Chapter 366: Chapter 221: Kill the Last Dick
Fortunately, the eerie scene didn’t last long, as when Diller resumed his steps, he found that the staircase above had returned to normal, no longer an endless spiral.
There was now an end in sight.
"What’s the matter? Why are you just standing there? Hurry up and follow," the man in front said, turning his head back towards Diller. "We better get out of here within five minutes, just in case they wake up."
"Wake up?" Diller quickly caught up. "Didn’t you use lethal poison?"
"Lethal poison?" The man stopped at the doorstep, puzzled. "Why would I kill them?"
"I just came to rescue you," he muttered while fiddling around the door. "Rescuing costs this much, but killing is no small matter, that would cost a lot more."
The doll took out a plastic film from his body and covered the fingerprint scanner at the door with it before entering a password.
"Bang—" After the dual authentication, the door swung open.
Diller slowly stepped out of the door, looking up at the moon hidden behind thick clouds, he took a deep breath and quickly left, not caring that his face was being recorded by the nearby camera.
From the surface, those didn’t seem like cameras, just some water tank keyholes, metallic parts of cabinets, and such.
He knew well that those were actually disguised cameras. A comprehensive surveillance system surely surrounded the building, a basic preventive measure.
As for his face being discovered, it didn’t matter as long as he could leave this place successfully.
The man also dashed out of the building nestled deep within the slums, closed the door, and quickly caught up with Diller.
"Remember to send me the rest of the money when you get back," the man said with a laugh before darting into a nearby alley and disappearing from Diller’s view.
"Huh? Wait... wait." Diller watched his retreating figure silently for a long time.
He had no money, no watch, not even a way to contact anyone. How was he supposed to get home?
It seemed that his family had not assigned anyone to meet him, and this residential area was deserted at night. Was he supposed to knock on Liu Tingruo’s door and ask her for money?
Diller sighed, but in the end, he just turned and left, pondering something as he walked.
It took less than ten minutes to leave the place; it seemed a bit too easy.
But now, the freedom which he was experiencing was reminding him, he had escaped.
It was that simple to escape.
No, something didn’t feel right.
Diller suddenly realized something but his expression showed a trace of delight, as if happy about regaining his freedom. Then he looked around to memorize the location.
Severi District, Zone D.
It was late at night now, but after leaving the residential area, he saw bustling crowds on the streets and the familiar neon light pollution.
"Two fifteen in the morning," he noted, glancing at the digital clock inside the convenience store, his brow furrowing slightly.
Was it already that late?
"That man... so weird."
"One-Armed Hero, hahaha."
"I think he’s quite cool, the best prosthetic is no prosthetic."
Groups of young men and women passed by, casually commenting upon seeing Diller who had only one arm.
But Diller just gave these three brightly colored young people a glance. These were common young folks in Zone D, simply wasting time, and he didn’t say much.
After seeing the crowd and submerging into its noise, Diller’s mind became calmer.
At least he was sure he was safe now.
So now the most urgent thing was to get back to Dick Family; that was his base, only there could he truly feel secure.
It was very likely that someone had tampered with his brain.
Diller’s gaze grew cold as he made a decision in his mind.
It must be Jiang Shu...
Or perhaps one of his subordinates who had done something to his brain using hypnosis.
He had passed out for two hours inside that building.
Inside the secret base, Diller had always relied on silently counting and his internal clock to keep track of time, and now, two hours had vanished inexplicably.
And he had no memory of those two hours, as though erased without a trace.
If it weren’t for his particularly strong sense of internal timing, maybe he wouldn’t have noticed at all.
This hypnotist was highly skilled, and information about the new Black Wall and Tang’s past plans with him had probably already leaked.
But with Tang’s competence, he must have altered the follow-up plans as soon as Diller was captured; the early activation of the new Black Wall was the signal for the change.
However, he was curious about Tang’s current motive.
Why had the new Black Wall been raised early, and why hadn’t the people from the Three Major Groups within the Fifth District reacted?
Logically, a battle should have already started by now, the Three Major Groups wouldn’t allow anyone to overshadow them.
