Chapter 246: Chapter 174 Catch Mu Jin First_2
The person sitting inside was Police Chief Tang.
He had learned this from the future foreseen.
Besides that...
He closed his eyes and used foreknowledge again.
This time, Jiang Shu saw things more clearly, and the content of his foreknowledge was richer.
However, a sudden dizziness made his body shake uncontrollably.
"What’s wrong?" Wolf stepped forward to support him, "It feels like your trip to the First District has left you drained?"
He pondered for a moment, suspiciously asking, "Did you go to a woman?"
"..." Jiang Shu focused on stabilizing his posture and couldn’t be bothered to respond to Wolf.
Sometimes he truly admired this guy for his exceptional keenness on such matters.
Jiang Shu walked into the police station and headed straight for Wolf’s office.
"Hey, wait for me." Wolf followed him closely, muttering continuously, "You better not talk nonsense later. Tang is very sharp; he can easily see through your thoughts."
Jiang Shu ignored Wolf; he had already reached the office door, not hesitating to push open the door in front of him.
Detective Tang, seated at the desk, looked up toward the door and smiled at Jiang Shu, "Mr. Jiang, you’ve arrived."
Jiang Shu had seen Tang’s appearance on posters before; he was an ordinary-looking Westerner.
But his eyes were sharp, his posture proper, and his whole demeanor energetic.
"Yes, Police Chief Tang." Jiang Shu nodded and sat down naturally in front of him, getting straight to the point, "I heard you were looking for me for some matters? Let’s talk about them here."
"I do indeed have some questions regarding the Deception Group case that I would like to consult Mr. Jiang on," stated Police Chief Tang. Then, he looked at Wolf, "Chief Wolf, please take a seat as well."
"Alright." Wolf also sat down, looking at the electronic files in front of Tang, which were all cases involving the Deception Group.
"Then I’ll ask directly." Tang smiled and jumped straight into the subject, "The first question is simple. I want to know the origin of Mr. Jiang’s magic; it closely resembles the Technique used by the Deception Group, making it hard not to draw associations."
Here it was, the first and most critical question.
Jiang Shu didn’t think too much and replied with a smile, "The magic I perform is actually a special kind of performance skill. In ancient times, such skills were sometimes called Divination or Juggling, etc., Tarot Master, Astrologist, Juggler, and so on."
"Hmm, so this is your own creation?" Tang questioned.
"No, it has a tradition," Jiang Shu said seriously. "Although they were not named the same historically, there has been such a system in existence. I summarized and learned this system and applied it in my performances."
"Hmm..." Tang nodded silently; his expression remained calm as water, "Is the Technique of the Deception Group also part of this system?"
"It probably is. Their performance methods are very similar to mine," continued Jiang Shu. "That is why I was sought out and joined the police as a consultant to help capture the fox."
"I see," said Tang as he flipped through a file but suddenly looked up at Jiang Shu, "You seem quite certain that the fox is the leader of the Deception Group?"
"Isn’t he?" Jiang Shu asked back, his expression steady, "He has always held a significant position in the Deception Group, both in performances and in crimes."
"It seems that way," Tang nodded in approval but then his tone suddenly changed, "But according to the testimony of the captured painter Fang Yue, there seems to be someone behind the Deception Group known as ’the Smiley Face.’ Did you forget about this?"
"I didn’t forget," Jiang Shu shook his head, "But I personally think it’s just a Smoke Bomb released by the fox."
"How so?" Tang asked with a half-smile.
"It’s simple. The fox never came to rescue him even after he was locked up in the Special Prison," Jiang Shu shrugged. "This indicates that his role in the Deception Group isn’t significant, so any information he brought could be meant to mislead us."
"That makes sense," Tang nodded, seemingly convinced, as he turned the electronic screen around, "I looked into your records. Compared to others, your records are too simplistic; you seem... to lack a past?"
"I experienced memory loss," Jiang Shu’s answer was consistent with the past, "I lost my memories about myself and was taken in by a kind person a few months ago."
"Well, you’re lucky," Tang smiled slightly, his tone still unchanging as if accepting Jiang Shu’s explanation. He opened up a file on the Deception Group, "My questions were merely because I prefer a comprehensive understanding of the case; I’m not suspecting you have ties to the Deception Group. In fact, after looking through these files, apart from magic and Technique being similar, I find you frighteningly clean."
"Of course," Jiang Shu shrugged, "If I were involved with them, I certainly wouldn’t be helping you."
"Right," Tang didn’t deny it; he suddenly stood up, extending his hand towards Jiang Shu and Wolf, "Now I can confirm that both of you can be trusted. Let’s reintroduce ourselves. I’m Tang, Dick Tang."
"Jiang Shu." Jiang Shu shook his hand.
His hand was chillingly cold.
Normally, being a police officer, which requires frequent exercise, should make one’s body quite warm, so his hands should not be this cold.
