Chapter 234: Chapter 170: Wildfire and Lovers

Byron Second Basic Academy had a new teacher arrive.

A young teacher with golden curly hair, thick eyebrows, large eyes, a lofty nose bridge, and deep-set eyes—it was that kind of distinctly three-dimensional Western facial structure.

Tall, but quite slender.

Handsome and graceful, with an exceptional presence.

Eyes clear, and corners of his mouth always carrying a gentle smile, whenever anyone asked him a question, he would explain with a soft voice and endless patience.

All were boring questions, such as "What’s your name," "Where are you from," "What do you teach," "Do you have a girlfriend."

Yaxi.

From Thirteen District.

Teaches social science.

No, and he was not interested in those sixteen or seventeen-year-old girls.

His class was one of the few open elective courses in this school that anyone could choose, so driven by curiosity, when he began teaching, this classroom meant for fifty people was crammed with seventy.

Unexpectedly, as the students flooded the classroom, they found that there was no shortage of male students—in fact, there were about thirty or forty of them.

It seemed the boys had predicted the girls’ choice.

"Hello, everyone." As the bell signalled the start of class, Yaxi entered the classroom on time, dressed in a light blue shirt and black dress pants, highlighting his elegant and slender figure.

Clean and warm, unhurried—not dazzling, but he stood out in any crowd.

"Welcome to my course." Yaxi smiled, "I teach social sciences, but rest assured, there’s nothing that requires you to memorize or master anything; I will try my best to ensure everyone gets through this course peacefully."

"I just need a bit of your cooperation," he added, then pressed a button on his wristwatch, connecting it with the classroom equipment, and the large Simulated Light Screen on the lectern turned on.

"The aim of this course is simple; I want to use reasonable methods for you to feel the power of unity and discipline," Yaxi displayed these two words on the Simulated Light Screen, "It’s not just an empty talk."

"Unity?"

"Discipline?"

"Sounds like an easy class, we chose right."

"Indeed."

A buzz of discussion spread among the students.

Yaxi gestured with his hand for them to be quiet, and continued, "First, I need to establish a few class rules with everyone—these are the disciplines, and I hope you can abide by them."

"You can look at the screen or listen to me. Let me clarify this beforehand: this is a special class, different from the educational model you have received in the past. If there are students who can’t accept or adapt, you may leave now. I will discuss your withdrawal with the principal, and it will not affect you in any way," Yaxi’s gaze swept across everyone as he slowly said, "But after today, you must obey."

Somehow, an abrupt silence fell over the students’ seats, as they, seemingly in agreement, shut their mouths and intently watched the teacher on the lectern.

No one moved, no one left.

"Good, since you’ve made your choice, let’s begin." Yaxi displayed the class discipline he had set on the Simulated Light Screen.

They were simple, not complicated.

"First, everyone must address me as ’Mr. Yaxi,’ whether it’s in class or outside of class."

"Second, everyone needs to reduce their speech in class. If you wish to speak, you must stand up and tell me succinctly and forcefully."

Yaxi was explaining his class rules from the lectern, but as he reached the second rule, someone from the crowd suddenly interrupted him.

"Why should we reduce speaking? Interaction in the classroom is essential."

The speaker was a beautiful girl wearing a black strap dress, sitting in her seat, tilting her head up slightly like a proud swan.

Her name was Erin, and her striking looks along with top grades made her one of the focal points of the school, so her words garnered agreement from several girls and boys around her.

Yaxi did not look at her; his gaze moved past the girl and he continued addressing everyone, "If anyone has objections to the first two rules, you may leave now."

He quietly waited a few seconds, and still, no one left.

The beautiful girl who had spoken stood up and asked succinctly and forcefully, "Mr. Yaxi, I would like to know why we should reduce speaking."

Yaxi then directed his attention to her, answering, "Silence is also a force. For a group, a single voice is when power is at its strongest. Of course, this isn’t a monologue from me; important matters will be decided collectively."

The beautiful girl sat down, somewhat uncomfortable with this style of instruction.

Or perhaps, no one was quick to get used to it; they were all too accustomed to freedom.

"Third," Yaxi’s voice was steady and powerful, pausing a moment to capture everyone’s attention before continuing, "those participating in this class should remember—on top of your identity as Byron Second Basic Academy students, there is a new identity."

Everyone looked at him, this time without making a sound, without any whispers.

"You are a whole, a team, hence you mustn’t do anything that harms the members of the team. If I find out, I will ask you to leave this course." Yaxi said this very seriously, his smile rarely faded.
