Chapter 458: Married Twice
Chapter 458: Married Twice
One day came after another, and eventually, Abel and Dani’s Coupling Rites finally came. As they had planned and agreed upon, the only attendees they had present were their close friends in the form of King Nikolai, Queen Mineah, Fritz, and Dani’s fellow Shadow Maidens Niran, Laura, Zaila, Krisha and Queen Mother together with some of the officials and members of Ivanov Clan. It was a small affair, one that didn’t have much grandeur with how quickly they both wanted it over with.
Well, that was with Dani’s case, at least. She didn’t want to linger on these things, especially when there was much more to be done. That, and she didn’t want to keep pretending for too long. Not that she was pretending much these days anyway.
"Are you ready, wife?" Abel asked beside her, looking absolutely dashing with his current getup. "They’re all watching us now."
"That’s the case, yes," she curtly replied while doing her best not to look too hard at his handsome visage. Why did he have to look this good anyway? "Let’s just get this over with. I really don’t want to be on center stage for too long."
"Then by all means, let’s do this."
Abel chuckled as he let her go. From there, Dani did exactly what was expected of her. The dance wasn’t easy by all means, but she didn’t study for nothing as her hips swayed and curved with practiced precision. She did her best to put on a sultry look, making sure that Abel was watching her as she seductively goaded him into her performance.
’That’s it... Just watch me do this thing...’
It was in both parts spiteful and hopeful. She wanted him to love her before they did anything. Sure, they were already married twice over by now, but that wasn’t what she wanted. She wanted to hear him say those three magical words and mean it. She knew he lusted for her, so she might as well get back at him for constantly leading her on like this.
"Beautiful..."
Abel’s compliment fueled her performance as she topped it all off with a flourish. From there, her husband joined her, their hands now together as they went on to finish their dashing dance of seduction.
"You’re doing this on purpose, aren’t you," Abel whispered to her. "You’re moving so..."
"Deliciously? Thank you," Dani scoffed back with a faint blush. "Your choice of words could use some work though."
"I just say what I mean," he chuckled back, his smile piercing through her heart as they slowed to a stop in the middle of the stage. "You’re amazing to look at, but your personality is just as enticing."
Dani did her best to keep herself calm despite the mad beating of her heart. She refused to let this man have the momentum between them right now. Not when he was already going to mark him in just a few more seconds.
"Dani... I’m glad to be your husband..."
"And I suppose I can say the same then," she relented with a soft smile. She then bared her shoulder to him and nodded. "Do it, Abel."
Giving her a nod in turn, Abel bore down and bit her. She did her best to remain conscious as she felt his power course through her, his mark forming on her bare shoulder as they remained connected. By the time the marking was done, Dani was barely standing on her feet, but she still had enough strength to keep going. She barely felt something break as well, but she didn’t know what exactly that was.
"There," Abel hummed in satisfaction. "Are you alright?"
"I’ll be fine," she insisted despite her pale expression. "Just give me a second to recover."
Letting out a breath, she did her best to put on a brave front as they both turned to the crowd. Their close friends all gave them cheers and applause, all of them proud of what they have both achieved.
"I’m glad we managed to get through this... This Coupling Rite," Abel whispered to her as they both bowed. "It was a magical experience."
"There was nothing magical about that," Dani chuckled. "Just practice and execution."
"Well, I’m more than eager to do both of those things to you later," he seductively whispered to her. "Only once we’re alone though."
Dani did her best to fight the ever intensifying blush threatening to bloom on her cheeks. Why did he have to word it like that? And right in front of their friends too, some of which might have enhanced enough hearing to hear what exactly they were saying to each other.
Then again, why bother hiding things at this stage? They were both husband and wife already. Twice now, even. It was perfectly normal for them to banter like this.
"You have something in mind, wife?" he asked.
"Just thinking of what to do with you later," she vaguely replied.
"Oh? Do you remember what you did to me after our wedding ceremony?"
Dani blushed hard even as she frowned at him. "No, I still don’t," she grumbled. "When are you going to tell me about that anyway?"
"Once we’re alone," he insinuated with a wag of his brow. "But for now, let’s move on to the rest of the Coupling Rites. I’m sure most of our guests are starving already."
Before Dani could even begin to get flustered, Abel was already leading her away from the stage and towards the reception area where they then sat down at the same table. Going through the motions, she greeted all that came to congratulate her, even smiling radiantly as she felt her hand being squeezed by her new old husband. There was something here. She just knew it. She just had to find it before she completely lost herself in him.
Well, that was the plan, at least. She had no idea how long she could stop herself from just loving him unconditionally, but she sincerely hoped that he’d love her by the time she lost herself.
