The day of Ahmed’s coronation had finally arrived, and he couldn’t help but grin as he slowly made his way to his new throne. While he had made sure that the coronation itself would be swift and modest, that didn’t mean that he wanted the best day of his life to be everything but there would still be a celebration the likes of which he had never seen before being thrown in his honor. There would be gatherings, and there would be an event where he would surely get Mineah’s final answer.

Of course, that answer being a resounding yes.

His grin intensified even as his feet slowly carried him to his final destination. He had made sure to lay it on thick that he held all the cards in their current relationship. He had that much power over her now, and he made sure to remind her of such at every chance he got. Just seeing her being submissive as opposed to her usual confident gait almost made him hard. He could already imagine him beneath her, her exquisite body ripe for the taking as he sank his fangs deep into her neck. In fact, he would probably be able to plant his seed deep into her easily enough the first time that she’d get pregnant. Nikolai’s seed was probably too impotent to even produce a proper heir.

"All welcome, Lord Ahmed!"

The moment he stepped in front of the throne, all that were in attendance stood up to pay respects to him. Letting his eyes roam, he spotted all of his supporters grinning and cheering at his accomplishments. His mother, Sage, was eagerly clapping for him, and he even spotted some of his fellow coven members giving him their support as they stayed near the back, making sure that nothing would go wrong as they acted as both insurance and guards at the same time.

Back to the coronation, he turned his head to the random court official officiating the proceedings. It would’ve been yet another important member of the court, but he made sure to look as modest as possible during his ascension so he let the old men draw lots and decide who would crown him from there.

"We are all gathered here today to witness the coronation of Ahmed Wagner to the throne of Valcrez," the old man began. "Today will usher forth a new age for the kingdom, for a new clan has finally risen to take on the mantle of ruler of our nation."

A round of polite applause followed, and Ahmed smirked as he spotted Mineah watching as far away from him as possible. It almost looked like she didn’t want to be near him, but that would all change after he was crowned king. Of that, he was certain.

"Now, before the coronation will proceed, would our new king like to speak a few words?"

Ahmed smirked as the onus to speak was passed on to him. Normally, giving a speech during one’s coronation wasn’t part of the tradition. However, since he was going to usher in a new age anyway, he might as well break a few preconceived notions that remained stuck in his new kingdom. After all, a few words of appeasement before his crowning might just help him get the support of some of Nikolai’s loyalists.

"Thank you," he nodded at the official. "On this day, I promise as your new king that I will uphold the kingdom’s ideals. I shall keep its laws enshrined in its proper place, and I’ll ensure that a new golden age will rise after all of this chaos has been resolved!"

He was met with thunderous applause. However, none of them came from those that he was trying to sway in the first place. Lastly, Mineah still remained unmoving in her place, her expression still as blank as when he first saw her earlier despite his imminent coronation.

Well, they wouldn’t be able to say he didn’t try to sway them to his side once he began his purge. He had to make sure that there would be no threats to his rule, after all.

Giving the official a nod, the old man began to continue with the proceedings.

"If there is nothing else, let us begin with the coronation."

With those words, Ahmed knelt down to receive his rightful place in the world. At the corner of his eyes, he saw his crown being brought to him, its splendor almost blinding him despite the fact that he would be the one wearing the thing in a few moments.

"Ahmed of Wagner Clan, do you solemnly swear to uphold Valcrez’s laws, to be justice himself, for the good of the people?"

"I swear," he droned out.

"Do you solemnly swear to keep the faith, to protect Valcrez’s citizens and be their shield?"

"I swear..."

With another nod, Ahmed saw the crown being lifted over his head. He was so close to being king now that he could practically taste it.

"Very well. In the power vested in me by the laws of Valcrez, I now pronounce you king-"

"Cease this nonsense at once!"

Everyone froze as a new arrival suddenly declared his appearance. To his credit, Ahmed remained kneeling as he took in a deep breath. The voice... It sounded so similar, but... It shouldn’t be possible.

"I, King Nikolai, refuse to let this farce of a coronation continue any longer!"

Ahmed felt his blood freeze at the pretender trying to crash his coronation. He saw the carnage that wrought the man’s death. Surely, this was merely a pretender!

"How dare you impersonate His Majesty!" Ahmed bit back as he stood up and turned around. "You dare to spit on his image and-"

"Minister Ahmed, I assure you that I am still among the living," Nikolai scoffed at him, his anger palpable in his tone. "I never died. In fact, I merely tricked you into thinking that. That way, I can act on my own without much scrutiny, allowing me to move undetected and gather more than enough evidence of all of your wrongdoings!"
