Chapter 301: The Condition of Her Body

As a new day dawned, Nikolai and Mineah busied themselves with the preparations for Zoran and Dahlia’s simple yet elegant wedding. It was also the first time Laura would exercise her position as the Minister of Justice to personally be an officiant for the civil wedding.

Nikolai designated the Scorpius Residence, which was within the majestic Corvus Palace to Dahlia, who would reside with Zoran once they were married. The Scorpius Residence was strictly guarded though, as Zoran was still technically under observation. While Nikolai trusted Zoran, he had to appease the court officials who believed that Zoran was nothing but a threat given his past entanglements with the Demon King.

"Isn’t it fascinating how we were just discussing marriages yesterday, and today we’re witnessing another beautiful marriage?" Mineah mused, her voice tinged with excitement, as she carefully selected a dress from her extensive walk-in closet.

"Well, if I were in their shoes, I would probably do the same thing. In fact, I would’ve done it way earlier. Time is gold for them," Nikolai commented, his eyes tracing every graceful move Mineah made as she went about selecting her attire. He lounged comfortably in a nearby chair, clearly in no hurry.

"Why are you here wasting your time watching me? Aren’t you going to change?" Mineah asked.

"Why rush when I can enjoy this exquisite sight right here?" he replied playfully. The dimming light of the day seemed to accentuate the aura of elegance and grace that surrounded her.

Mineah couldn’t help but snort at his comment. It was already getting dark and they had just returned after finishing their respective duties in the kingdom. Mineah wanted to change as she had been wearing the same dress since morning. Despite the cold winter weather outside, her body felt sticky, which honestly wasn’t new anymore. She couldn’t understand why her body was like that. She was sweating despite the cold temperature.

"Also, I thought you might need some help in changing. I guess, I’m already used to being your hand servant, my Queen." Nikolai teased as he stood up and helped her look for a dress for her.

"How about you wear this one? Simple yet elegant," Nikolai commented as he picked up an emerald dress. "I will prepare a bath. Let’s have a quick shower. We still have time before the ceremony anyway."

Mineah only shook her head as she watched her husband leave to prepare for their bath.

She liked the dress he chose, its simplicity and elegance seemed perfect for the occasion. But Mineah frowned when she recalled something, "The vision... Didn’t Tarah mention that I wore an emerald dress in the vision?"

The vision itself was clear only in some parts but pretty vague in others, like detailed descriptions of dresses. All she could confidently describe was how Zoran died to save Dahlia and how Nikolai tried to save him by turning him which seemed to not work so she had stepped in with a dagger in her hand.

They had asked Tarah to give them more details, like the surroundings or what they were wearing but what Tarah said was that she wore an emerald dress. Mineah was unsure if that emerald dress was the same one Nikolai had chosen today.

The questions raised by Tarah’s vision continued to weigh heavily on her mind. She couldn’t help but ponder over the details - the emerald dress, the music in the background, the moonlit garden, the three women, and the two male vampires with distinctive white-silver hair. These were some of the other details Tarah had mentioned.

"There were women... Among those, Tarah recognized Dani and Krisha." Mineah whispered, deep in thought. But the possibility of having music and dancing was improbable as Dahlia and Zoran only wanted a solemn civil wedding and then dinner with family and friends.

Mineah released a deep heavy sigh. Knowing the visions of the future could really be scary especially when you don’t know when it might happen and it often left them feeling unnerved and cautious. She shook her head and followed her husband into their private bathroom.

"What’s wrong?" Nikolai asked her when she approached him. He probably noticed the weariness in his wife’s face.

"Do you think it could happen tonight? The vision Tarah saw about Zoran dying?" Mineah asked as she slowly undressed herself before her husband.

Nikolai, his eyes still locked onto hers with a reassuring intensity, responded, "We’re already prepared for it, Mine. If Devon tries to take Zoran’s life then I will make a move and turn him into a vampire... Zoran agreed to it, didn’t he?"

Mineah released a sigh as she crawled into her husband’s lap in the tub and made herself comfortable.

"Right, but Tarah saw it not working, and that’s where I entered... She just saw me wounding my palm with the divine dagger. Will it really work though? Feeding my blood to Zoran?" she worriedly asked. Somehow, she didn’t want to fail Dahlia and Zoran. She wanted them to have a new life together.

Nikolai tenderly kissed her head as she nestled against his chest, holding her close. "You feel pressured. Don’t be. What matters is that we’ll do our best to help them, and the rest is left to fate whether survives the ordeal or not, Mine. I’m sure Dahlia will be grateful to know our pure intentions to help to the best of our abilities. Now, all we can do is pray that things work out in the end," Nikolai reassured her, his voice soft and comforting.

He then released a fake sigh and murmured, "What you should be worrying about is how to appease and shut down the royal court officials who keep pestering us about our royal heirs," Nikolai reminded.

Mineah’s face soured recalling the recent meeting with those court officials. They were not saying it directly, but Mineah could feel them pressuring her to bear a child.

"Queen Xenia is already pregnant, so we’re confident our Queen will definitely get pregnant soon," Mineah snorted, repeating the sarcastic words Exordium Sage from the Wagner Clan said during the meeting.

Nikolai chuckled and said, "Don’t worry. We’re already working hard, aren’t we?" Nikolai whispered in her ear and Mineah could only answer with a moan the moment she felt his erectness slip into her as he moved her hips up on his lap.

Mineah bit her inner lip as she focussed on their lovemaking but she took note to have a private talk with Zaila about the condition of her body. She was absolutely fertile when she and Nikolai made love during that Midnight Sun so why was she still not pregnant?
