Chapter 273: Did He Turn You?
Chapter 273: Did He Turn You?
At Stewart Manor, Kingdom of Ebodia
After the dinner, Krisha quickly went back to her bedchamber. Entering the room, she couldn’t help but smile as she looked around at what used to be her home.
"I didn’t change a thing, my dear," her mother hummed from behind her. "I just keep it tidy for when you return."
"Thank you, Mother," she smiled back.
Letting her gaze roam, it was almost perfect if it weren’t for the unfortunate fact that Taro was currently gone with her father to have a drink.
"Will he be alright with Father?" she couldn’t help but worriedly ask as she comfortably sat on the edge of the bed.
"Hopefully, he will," her mother replied with a downcast town as she sat beside her. "Your father and I were really surprised. I mean, you could’ve said something about the fact that you’re already seeing a man beforehand."
Krisha unknowingly bowed her head. She felt bad, but how could she even send word to them when everything happened so quickly? Even she herself couldn’t sometimes believe that she was someone’s wife now.
If only their vacation hadn’t been cut short back then, then her parents could’ve met both Taro and Marlon as one of their friends. They had first gone to the manor of Zaila’s family, but by the time that it was her turn to visit her family, the incident at the province of Norma happened, so they had no choice but to rush back to Valcrez.
"I’m sorry, Mother," Krisha said in a low tone, and she was about to say more when she felt her mother’s hand gently stroking her hair.
"You’re a grown-up woman now, dear. But while you’re now responsible for yourself and your actions, that doesn’t mean that you have to forget that you still have a family," her mother warmly advised her. "I know that your father is at fault too in giving your name to the list of maidens for the selection of Prince Ezekiel’s wife, but can you blame him for thinking that it’s the only way for you to see us?"
Blinking, Krisha turned to her mother, the latter giving her a faint smile as she continued. "You’ve been away for so long. I know you and your father more often than not argue on some things, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t care for you," her mother further added.
"He loves you. Well, while his way of showing it is a bit hard to understand sometimes, you must know how much Rigor longs for you. You’re our only daughter, after all. We heard that you and Zaila came back home, and your father and I were hurt that you didn’t even stop by here to see us even for just a meal..."
Krisha bit her inner lip, realizing how she was at fault for everything that had just happened. "Isn’t he mad that I ran away?" she asked.
Her mother let out a heavy sigh. "Of course he is," she shook her head at her. "But like I said, that doesn’t mean he won’t love and care for you anymore."
Krisha gritted her teeth in guilt. Bowing her head once more, she whispered, "I’m so sorry..."
"Hmm... You should be telling that to him as well," her mother commented. "As for your husband, I’m not sure what your father thinks of him right now, but he’ll surely take his time to learn more about that husband of yours now."
"I’ll talk to Father later and apologize properly then," Krisha timidly informed.
It was only fortunate for her that her parents weren’t the kind of people who had something against non-human beings. It was just that her father had high standards and requirements for his children.
In hindsight, even her brothers probably had something to say about her choices if they saw her. Krisha had three elder brothers who were all involved in Ebodia’s military affairs at the moment, so it was only understandable that the three weren’t around to witness these turn of events.
"Does it hurt?" her mother suddenly asked as she gently touched the still visible bite marks Taro left between her neck and shoulder. "Did he turn you?"
Krisha shook her head. "He’s not like that. He always asks for my consent first before doing something," she explained. "This mark... It’s just our Coupling Bond, a confirmation that we’re a married couple in Valcrez. It doesn’t hurt at all. It just stings at first..."
"Are you going to turn yourself into a vampire then?" her mother further asked with a weary look. "If you won’t, then you’ll only age with time while he’ll still look the same,"
Krisha pondered her options. She honestly didn’t want to think about it just yet. She was still undecided on what to do regarding that potential future.
"I’m not sure yet, Mother. I’ll probably wait and observe some more if I’ll ever be ready to turn into a vampire," she genuinely replied. "For now, I just want to focus more on building up my relationship with Taro and our future family together."
Her mother nodded, and then a terse silence reigned before Krisha broke it to reassure her. "Don’t worry about me, Mother. From now, on I’ll make sure to send more updates about me in the future."
"I’ll hold you to that then," her mother faintly smiled before letting out a deep sigh. "I’ll be leaving you now so that you can rest early. Don’t wait for your husband since I’m sure that your father will take his time with him. I’ll also be sending word to your brothers so that they can come home tomorrow and meet Taro."
She then stood up from the bed and leaned in to give Krisha a kiss on her forehead. "Goodnight, my dear."
"Good night, Mother," Krisha replied as she watched her mother go through the door and leave.
Once she was alone, Krisha stood up and immediately went to have a good warm bath. She honestly felt so exhausted from everything that had happened that she rested her head by the side of her tub and closed her eyes. With her body still dipped in the relaxing water, she let herself doze off to sleep. The aroma smelled so nice, and it only further helped her relax as she slept her worries away...
