Chapter 262: Under the Rule of King Nikolai

Chapter 262: Under the Rule of King Nikolai

At Rossi Clan

The whole Rossi Clan was in chaos after the tragedy that had happened. One of their own was executed in the most tragic and horrendous way a vampire of his high stature could be killed.

They barely managed to drag Exordium Eva out of sight as she watched her son be eaten alive by bugs and vermin. They were a rare species called Necrovamp, these bugs and vermin were trapped inside the Cage of Death with a powerful spell. It had been a long time since the Cage of Death had been used to execute the worst of the criminals in Valcrez.

Today, King Nikolai had sent a clear message to everyone that had effectively invoked fear to those who witnessed this. An official of high status from a powerful clan received a gruesome death for his crimes. King Nikolai didn’t bat an eye as he watched Haman eaten alive without any of his remains left.

"Haman was sentenced to a worse death than Roselat! That bastard! How could he do this? How could he be this arrogant!?" Eva hysterically shouted, not minding that everyone in her vicinity could hear her.

Then her eyes found Teressa and her stare turned deadly, she moved to attack her but was quickly held back by other members of the Rossi Clan.

"You bitch! How could you testify against him!!! He’s the only remaining pureblood with Exordium blood that we have!!!" she hissed, her eyes red as she burned with fury.

"He didn’t hesitate to instruct his men to kill me! ME, one of his kind and clan! How could someone like that be our one hope when instead of protecting a member of his clan he demanded me to be killed, labelling me as a liability just so he could have what he wanted!!! And here you are announcing that he was our Clan’s last hope? I won’t be surprised if he ordered you to be killed too, his own mother, just so that he could get what he wanted," Teressa mocked.

"This event should be addressed properly, Eva. We know that we all came from you and your brother Tristan. We owe everything to both of you, but that doesn’t mean that you can treat our lives like it’s nothing. Tristan won’t stand for any injustice and you know that." Minister Rory reminded.

Tristan was a good man who had led their Clan properly. But that ended when Tristan died as he fought against the dragon souls attack and tried to save each and every one of them in their clan. Since then Eva took over. Rory tried his best to support Eva as he had promised Tristan that he would assist his sister as she led their clan no matter what happened.

Eva wanted their Clan to gain more power, saying that it was time for them to rule Valcrez and that the Ichor Clan had been ruling for too long now. Rory supported her, thinking she wanted it for the benefit of their entire clan, so he did everything Eva wanted.

But how could her son do this to his only daughter? Just the thought of almost losing his beloved daughter in the hands of their own made his body tremble in anger.

"But he’s my son Rory. I need to avenge him!" Eva weakly uttered as she slumped on the floor.

"Eva!" her husband Dylan suddenly appeared at her side. "I’m sorry, I’m too late," Dylan exasperatedly said as he tried to comfort his wife. He was the governor that handled the province of Hydra which is why it had taken him some time to come.

Dylan was one of Tristan’s Scions who later on became Eva’s husband. Eva like others was also blessed by the heavens to bear a child and that was Haman. Rory understood where Eva was coming from, but like her, he too was a father who didn’t want any harm to come to his daughter. He would kill whoever it was that would try to do something to Teressa.

There was no point in staying, seeing how hysterical Eva was as Dylan tried to calm her down.

"Come now, daughter," Rory pulled his daughter signaling for them to leave Eva’s residence and head home.

"Are you sure you’re not hurt anywhere?" Rosy asked his daughter as he checked her from head to toe as soon as they were inside their home. Teressa held her father’s hands desperately and said, "Father you see what happened to Haman right? We should not support the wrongdoings of Exordium Eva or we’ll all end up like Haman... Please, Father, you must cease your support for her!"

Rory looked around for anyone who could overhear them before he spoke, "Lower your voice, Teressa. The situation right now is complicated. You fear death in the hands of the king, but knowing Eva, she will not hesitate to take your life."

"She wouldn’t do that father, she’ll have second thoughts about harming us because she knows that the King will investigate this matter and he will wipe her off the face of this world the way he did to her son as if they had never existed in this world!" Teressa firmly declared.

Rory was taken aback. Since when had Teressa been this vocal?

"Father, it’s time for us to stand up for what we think is right. I’m not scared. Seeing and witnessing the trial gave me the courage to believe in what is right. No one had known that our King was working under the shadow but today only proves that we have a capable King who will fight for what is right. We don’t need to be afraid now."

Rory could only part his lips, attempting to speak as his daughter talked without a single pause. He had never seen her face light up the way it did now. Something was different. She was no longer his timid little girl who would be willing to listen to everything he had asked of her.

"I want to participate in the Civil Examination Service and work inside the palace. I want to work under the rule of King Nikolai, Father. Please let me participate." Teressa suddenly pleaded.
