Chapter 246: Establish a Strong Bond

Chapter 246: Establish a Strong Bond

Back in the palace, Dahlia continued to busy herself with different duties that were assigned to her in order to keep herself occupied. Last night, she was expecting Zoran to come see her, hoping he had somehow heard about how the conversation between her and the Seer of Ebodia went down, yet he never came. She yawned as she focused on the documents she received from Dani and began sorting them out.

Dahlia released a heavy sigh as she gently caressed the bangle she was wearing. Her mind and heart were plagued with worry for Zoran. "Come back to me soon, please. I miss you," she murmured as she stared at the bangle. She said this, deeply hoping that Zoran was somehow listening.

’I’m sure he’d come back to me as soon as he’s able to,’ she mused to herself as she tried her best to clear her head from the vision which the Seer had mentioned, the one about Zoran dying.

"Lady Dahlia," she heard Krisha call her from behind.

She turned towards her and then greeted her with a curt nod, "Lady Krisha."

"Apologies for disturbing you, but I thought it’s best to let you know that your Mother has arrived, she’s currently waiting for you in the east wing pavilion. I’ll walk you to her," Krisha informed. Dahlia nodded as her eyes lit up at the thought of seeing her mother again. It had been a while and since they had last been together as she understood the security the king and queen had to implore around her.

She immediately walked alongside Krisha towards the east wing. "Your mother has been crying since the moment she received the news. I heard as well that she hasn’t stopped sobbing up till now. Here, you might need this," Krisha said, Dahlia had looked over to her to see that Krisha’s hand was extended, holding out handkerchiefs.

Dahlia chuckled at this and said, "Thank you Lady Krisha. You’re all so warm and kind towards me. I am incredibly blessed to have all of you around me during this time."

"You’re a good person too, Dahlia. And I do hope that everything turns out well for you, although there are no reassurances for the future, it always helps to look towards the bright side of things. For now, we hope that you enjoy your time with your Mother, despite this being inside the confines of the Corvus Palace." Krisha said with a wink.

Dahlia nodded at the thought of this with her widest smile and said, "Truly this is more than enough for me, and I appreciate every good gesture coming from you all."

Just as Krisha had said, Dahlia heard her mother wailing the moment she had seen her approaching.

"Oh, good heavens. Is that really you, my sweet Dahlia? You’re really alive?! Oh heavens!!!" her mother exclaimed as she ran towards her and hugged her tightly.

Tears rolled down her cheeks as she sobbed, "Yes Mother, your eyes don’t deceive you, it really is me, Dahlia. I’m alive and well. I’m so sorry to have caused you so much pain and be the reason for your tears all these years, I truly am sorry..."

"Do not fret about these things my daughter. Oh, I still can’t believe that I am here able to hold you like this." Her mother gently let go of her and held her at arm’s length as she proceeded to scan her from head to toe. Her mother’s face then transformed into worry as she cupped her face and added, "You’re so warm. And you look exactly the same as the last time I saw you. You... Did you?"

Dahlia shook her head and said, "Don’t worry, Mother, I’m still human. I have not been turned into a vampire. Come now and sit with me. I can’t wait to tell you all the details of how Zoran saved me..."

"Zoran? How is that poor man? I haven’t heard of him since he vanished after trying to kill..." her mother halted.

Dahlia hugged her mother’s shoulders and said, "Come now and sit first. I’ll catch you up on all the details..."

Standing on the sidelines, Krisha watched as Dahlia happily reunited with her Mother.

"It’s always so heartening to witness such happy events such as this," Zaila commented beside her.

"You’re back... Come and let’s give them some privacy now." Krisha pulled on Zaila as they walked towards the pond. It was their favorite spot in the Palace.

"Ah, I really don’t like this winter," Zaila snorted as she pulled on her coat. "How is Taro by the way?"

"I noticed that the two of you are getting closer and it’s unfortunate that something had come up for him to be assigned so far away," Zaila said teasingly.

Krisha chuckled and said, "Stop it already Zaila. Taro and I are good friends. Being away like this is good for him since he’s still hurting. He has feelings for Dani and she often slips away from him in a blink of an eye. He has so many regrets, yet it’s too late now for him to fight for her when Dani has already chosen what she wants."

"I could be wrong Krisha, but I do see the chemistry between you and Taro, as well as the way he kept looking at you throughout the vacation..." Zaila mumbled.

"Stop it Zaila... Honestly, you and your wild imaginations," Krisha snorted.

"Believe what you must," Zaila snorted, "Ah, I really can’t take this cold, I must go."

"I’ll follow you shortly," Krisha said with a wink. Her eyes darted back to the lotus flowers floating atop the pond as she mumbled, "It’s been weeks already. I wonder how he’s doing now."

"Krisha."

Krisha turned towards the voice, and when she saw who it belonged to her eyes widened.

"You’re back?!" She exclaimed to Taro, who was now standing in front of her.

He smiled and said, "I won’t be long. His Majesty needed something, but he wants me to go back to Cordon as soon as possible. I thought that I should see you before I leave. It’s been a while since we last spoke."

"Indeed," Krisha said tentatively, "How have you been?" She curiously asked. She was incredibly glad to see Taro and was struggling to hide this.

"I’ve been good, just a little bored most of the time."

She chuckled and said, "Well, guarding in the shadows is indeed boring. I can imagine that it would be nice to have someone to talk to once in a while. It’s a pity that I’m a simple human so I’m unable to establish a link with you. Don’t worry, we’ll throw a party once you return. Also, I’m sure the bloodthread issue will be resolved soon."

"It will take time. I heard from Lady Jayra that it might take years..." Taro murmured.

"Years? Are you sure of that?!" Krisha exclaimed in shock, as she was not familiar with the details regarding the bloodthread as well as details about supernatural beings.

"We can establish a strong bond, Lady Krisha, if you’re willing," Taro suddenly said.

Krisha looked at him with her brows raised and said, "Really? How?"

"I will mark you," Taro replied without batting an eye.
