Chapter 235: Full Moon

In the end, Aunt Alexa was the one who arrived to pick up Mineah and directly sent her to Nikolai’s sacred haven at Mount Orion. Nikolai himself was unable to bring someone safely with him at the moment, and while she offered to use a teleportation spell, he didn’t want her to use any of her energy. So instead, she ended up simply obeying her dear husband.

"I’ll keep you company while we wait for Nikolai to arrive," Aunt Alexa said as she started touring her around the modified cave. To her surprise, it looked very cozy and comfortable from the inside as opposed to looking at it from outside the cave mouth.

"I’m sure you’re quite busy already, Aunt Alexa," Mineah reassured her as she walked around. "This place is protected by a strong spell, so I’m sure I can manage being alone."

"Alright, I guess I’ll leave you for now," Alexa chuckled. "Nikolai stations a lot of his men around anyway since he’s not confident enough with how he would react later. Are you sure you won’t get bored on your own?"

"Again, I’ll be fine," Mineah nodded. "Thank you so much for helping me out, Aunt Alexa. I’m sure Nikolai will be arriving soon. It’s getting dark anyway."

"Alright then, I’ll be going now," Aunt Alexa said with a wink before disappearing before her.

Finally left alone, Mineah took her time looking around. Raising an eyebrow, she then smiled as she noticed some of her wardrobe lying around. There were also a few things scattered about that she would need if it ever came to things.

Absently, she opened the protected storage box where a sample of her blood was kept in two bottles. She couldn’t help but wonder if these would be sufficient enough for Nikolai, but if it wasn’t, then Nikolai could simply get more through her directly.

She sighed as she felt herself over. She had been outside for almost the entire day, and she felt a bit sticky due to all of the sweat she accumulated. So despite the cold weather, she took a quick shower and changed into a more comfortable nightgown.

[What are you doing, Mine?] Nikolai asked her through the bond.

[Waiting for you...] she answered with a grin as she made her way to the kitchen.

"I thought you already had a feast, so why are you searching the kitchen?"

Mineah smiled when she felt Nikolai’s arms wrapping around her waist from behind. She didn’t even feel him appear, but she welcomed his arrival regardless.

"The grapes look so yummy..." she murmured as she started eating the grapes. She then put some of the other fruits she wanted to eat on a platter as she went around the kitchen.

By the time she was done, she went and turned around, only to notice how Nikolai’s face had paled.

"Are you feeling sick?" she asked.

He shook his head. "Just getting weaker because the full moon is about to rise.

"Come now," she held his hand as she led them towards the bed. "Let’s get you some rest."

Smiling, she let Nikolai rest on the bed before quickly grabbing the two bottles of her blood from the storage box.

[Master, the full moon is rising,] Nik informed her.

She flinched when she heard Nikolai whimper on the bed. Knowing what must be done, Mineah moved quickly to approach him.

"Lai," she gasped as she saw him. Nikolai’s eyes were red and burning. They looked like the eyes of a predator ready to take on his prey.

"Give me that," he hoarsely uttered, his voice sounding like he was in pain.

Nodding, Mineah quickly handed him the bottles, but Nikolai’s sudden movements caused them to fall to the ground. Eyes wide, she was about to pick them up when she felt Nikolai’s hand grab her wrist. Then, in one swift motion, she felt herself being pulled into bed with Nikolai hovering over her.

"Lai... It’s me... Mine..." she subconsciously uttered upon seeing how Nikolai’s face had transformed. His fangs were elongated, and his eyes were fixated on her as if he was unable to recognize her.

Mineah could see her own reflection in his burning eyes, and she could only gulp as she tried to think of something to get herself out of this situation. Unfortunately, it would seem that there was only one way that this would end.

Gritting her teeth, she bit her inner lip before turning her face sideways, offering him her neck as she hummed, "Go on and feed on me, Lai. It’s alright. I know you’ll be able to control yourself."

"Mine, argh..."

Nikolai painfully groaned for a brief second before he suddenly jumped off of their bed. To her surprise, she saw him picking up the bottles and quickly drinking both of them. Then, a protective barrier suddenly surrounded her. What followed next was Nikolai’s body hitting the ground with a thud.

"Lai!" She called out to him in alarm.

She tried to move, but-

"Stop!" Nikolai grunted. "Just stay right there!"

Her body froze at his command. Despite this, tears started streaming down her cheeks as she watched his rampage. She could only stare as Nikolai started destroying everything around him, growling and groaning in pain as he tried to approach her only for the barrier surrounding her to bounce him back away.

"He needed more," Mineah murmured.

It was obvious. She had enough information on what she could expect to happen to Nikolai during the full moon. He wouldn’t cool down unless he was fed enough. Unfortunately, this was his first time feeding from a new host, and Nikolai was scared to do it.

Clearly, Nikolai was fighting his urge to get more blood from her, and it wasn’t doing him any favors. She knew that he must face his fear of not being able to control himself once he fed on her. Either way, she was confident that he could control himself. So without hesitation, Mineah broke the protective spell Nikolai cast on her.

"Lai, don’t fight it. Go on and drink on my blood. You’ll be in more pain if you fight it like that," she encouraged him as she stared straight into his eyes. "Just drink from me and focus on your control. Stop once you’ve had enough."

To her surprise, Nikolai suddenly disappeared, and she felt chills run all over her body as she waited.

Then, she felt Nikolai’s presence behind her.

"Go on and don’t hesitate. I trust you, Lai, so you must also trust yourself," she further encouraged him despite her tense feelings. "We’ll be doing this every full moon, and there’s no escaping it. You can do it, Lai..."

A beat passed, then she felt his breath hitting her skin between her neck and shoulder blade.

"You smell so good," he groaned.

She gulped. Even Nikolai’s sweet and gentle voice had changed into a deep tone.

Without hesitation, Mineah grabbed Nikolai’s hands and had his arms wrapped around her waist. Holding onto his trembling hands firmly, she repeated, "You can do this, Lai..."

She then slowly tilted her head to the side, offering him her neck once more. With her permission guaranteed, Nikolai gently kissed her skin, and Mineah closed her eyes as she raised her hand to gently stroke Nikolai’s hair.

"Go on and feed on me," she murmured, followed by a gasp when she felt his sharp fangs sink deep into her skin.
