Chapter 224: Good or Bad Luck

Chapter 224: Good or Bad Luck

Alexa shrugged as she watched the chaos inside the throne hall.

In truth, this was actually not an official meeting requested by the King. These officials simply gathered here to ask for the King’s presence. Unfortunately for them, Nikolai didn’t arrive with Gregory saying that he was busy making a baby. Despite that, the officials pushed back by simply pushing Gregory to inform the king that they would wait in the throne room for their important discussion.

Every official was voicing out their opinions, and the hot topics at hand were the facts that their Queen was a Nephilim as well as Dahlia’s return.

"Is he planning to take her as a mistress?" Sage Wagner questioned beside her. "She was his first love, after all."

Alexa inwardly sighed. From what she recalled, the Wagner Clan was the same as the Rossi Clan in that they strongly opposed Nikolai’s rule. While the former wasn’t as vulgar as the latter, she knew that Sage already had something cooking up her sleeve for years.

It was unavoidable. The power struggles within the kingdom were real after all, and some powerful Clans in their kingdom wanted the throne for themselves. However, it was only unfortunate for them that their clan, the Ichor, held enough power to ensure stability for the throne. Her brother Arturo was a good ruler. While he wasn’t perfect since he loved women far too much, he was still good at his job. It was only a good thing that Nikolai didn’t inherit that bad trait from his father.

"I know Nikolai. He will only have one woman in his life, and that’s our Queen alone," Alexa proudly answered. "He’s a one-woman man, Sage."

"But Dahlia is the love of his life," Sage scoffed. "Everyone knew what happened to him when Dahlia died. He was so devastated that he wanted to die with her..."

"Of all, you should’ve known better, Sage. It’s not about who’s the first love, but who currently holds Nikolai’s heart right now," Alexa pointed out with an obvious eye-roll at Sage’s face. "Obviously, our Queen has fully conquered our King’s heart. Didn’t you hear what Gregory just said? He’s already busy attending to the Queen and making children despite knowing Dahlia is around!"

The argument was about to continue when an announcement suddenly came in. All the commotion died down as the guards outside proclaimed the arrival of the King and Queen.

"Finally!" Eva snorted from where she sat.

Alexa sighed. She could only wonder what these two women prepared to throw at Nikolai today. Surely, this meeting wasn’t going to be a good one.

Silently, they all waited until the King and Queen took to their respective seats.

"Greetings to the King and Queen!"

At the customary greeting, Nikolai signaled for them all to rise. "The Queen is with me, and she personally has a few words to say to you all," he informed them as he then turned to Mineah and nodded.

On cue, Mineah began her speech. "I’m sure a lot of you were surprised to hear the news... I am indeed a Nephilim. My mother is an angel who fell in love with the man she was bound to look after and protect," she lengthily explained.

"Because she broke the law of the heavens, the Almighty punished her and threw her here on earth, becoming a fallen angel. And like what it says in the book, fallen angels either become demons or repenters while on this earth... My mother is a repenter, and I believe I don’t need to elaborate as to why."

Alexa nodded in agreement. She was aware of the righteous deeds Queen Dana did not only in Ebodia but in other parts of the world. "We owe her a lot since she was the one who sealed the dragon souls to protect innocent lives from falling victim to their attempts to find a host for their souls," she reiterated the obvious so that these imbeciles inside this throne hall would be reminded of who was the one who did such a deed.

"But apparently, she didn’t manage to seal them all," Eva scorned.

Alexa bit her lip as she stopped herself from pulling out the hairs of this ungrateful bjtch. Well, she tried, but it was too hard not to argue with Eva spouting out nonsense like this.

"Oh, right, I remember you hiding during that time while the dragon souls hunted for hosts in our kingdom," Alexa pointed out with a scoff. "Maybe if you actually helped out a bit during that time, then some probably wouldn’t slip away from Queen Dana’s spells. We can’t possibly blame her after everything she did to help, right?"

"You..."

Eva grunted at her, and Alexa simply gave her a naive blink as if taunting the woman. After all, what did she even do wrong?

"Why hide it and make us all believe that you’re nothing but a cursed Princess?" Minister Haman suddenly butted in.

"I didn’t hide it, Minister Haman," the Queen plainly answered. "I just simply didn’t see the point of flaunting such a status."

Her words were clear. It was a slap in their faces, and Alexa could help but smile in satisfaction as she remained quiet to observe what was happening.

"Things are becoming complicated right now," Amed, who just got back after a few days of being away, commented. He was the Minister of Commerce from the Wagner Clan. Sage’s son; a pureblood. "A Nephilim is considered either as a sign of good or bad luck, Your Majesty."

Alexa couldn’t help but squint as she was bothered by Amed’s mysterious and neutral countenance. He was from an opposing Clan, but he was always neutral in everything that happened in the kingdom. He was also someone who was dedicated to his work, unlike this Haman who everyone knew didn’t deserve his position of being the Minister of Justice. Still, something in Amed told her that he was way more dangerous than he let out...

Curious, she turned to their Queen as she waited for how she would answer such a question.

Queen Mineah had a genuine smile on her face as she looked at all who were present in the throne hall. "I’m not sure if it will be bad or good luck as well, Minister Amed. However, I will still do everything in my power to be a good Queen for our kingdom. I believe it’s inevitable that every kingdom would face problems. After all, nothing is constant in this world except change either for good or bad..." she began.

"I know I won’t be able to please everybody, but I will still do everything to perform well in my duty as the mother of this kingdom alongside my king. I won’t be able to do this alone, though. Without your cooperation, I would certainly fail. Together, having one goal for the betterment of the kingdom would be to our success. If that happens, then nothing is impossible..."

A few seconds of silence followed the Queen’s long speech. And then...

"Long live the Queen!"

"Long live the King!"

Alexa smiled as Leona started cheering for them. The rest followed, and she was simply glad that her dear nephew had finally found a deserving woman to be by his side.
