Chapter 210: Immortal Entities

’Looks like I won’t be able to talk to my sister tonight,’ Mineah regretfully mused as she watched Xenia and her husband excuse themselves to their guests. Queen Mother Savannah, on the other hand, went ahead and escorted Mineah and her family to their respective chambers for the night.

Navigating the hallways silently, Nikolai walked with her all the way to the door of their bedchamber before he finally broke the silence.

"Mine," he called to her from behind. With her door opened, Mineah turned to look at him. "I have to go back. Call me through the bond whenever you feel like going home already," he plainly said before he then quickly turned his back on her and walked away.

Mineah frowned at what just happened. She didn’t know how long she stood there staring at Nikolai’s retreating back, but by the time she realized what she was doing, the hallway was already empty except for her still standing there like a pole.

"That’s it?" she mumbled with a pout.

Then again, what did she expect? A kiss before leaving? No one was there, so Nikolai didn’t need to keep up with their act. Her shoulders dropped. She couldn’t help but wonder how long her husband would treat her so coldly.

’Give him some more time...’ she reminded herself with a sigh.

Instead of going inside her assigned chamber, Mineah decided to walk around and look for a servant. Once she found one, she asked where Wizard Lurio’s chamber was.

An answer later, and she couldn’t help but frown at what she got. Apparently, the wizard was not in his chamber as well. Instead, he was currently Ezekiel’s assigned bedchamber together with her parents.

Mineah pouted as she decided to go there herself. As soon as she entered the room, she said, "How come you haven’t called for me? Looks like there’s a meeting here that I should be participating in."

Her mother smiled as she noticed her arrival, signaling her to take a seat beside her brother Ezekiel.

"We don’t want your husband being suspicious, dear," her father stated.

Mineah sat on her chair first, taking in a deep breath before sighing loudly as she said, "He left already and he knew everything about Ezekiel already..."

"What?!" her mother burst out.

Mineah let out another sigh as her family all stared at her. Seeing her opportunity, she began narrating what exactly happened and how she ended up exposing the truth of her angel blood during the attack on the province of Norma.

"You..." her mother gasped as she covered her mouth.

Mineah bit her inner lip as she watched how tears ran down her mother’s cheek. Guiltily, she bowed her head and whispered, "I’m sorry..."

"I told you not to use that power inside you because we don’t know what could happen if you do!" her mother scolded. "Whenever you use that energy, the chaos inside you also grows!"

Fidgeting, Mineah murmured as she weakly defended herself. "But I can’t just do nothing while seeing my people suffer."

Yes, the Valcrezians were already her people whether they accepted her or not. Nikolai’s people were also her people. She was their Queen, and she wanted to be good enough so that they could rely on her.

Determination filling her, Mineah raised her head and looked straight into her mother’s eyes. "I want them to know that I’m more than just the Cursed Princess they thought of me to be."

"But-"

Her mother was about to retort when she paused mid-sentence. Her father was holding onto her mother’s hand on the table, squeezing it as if to give her his support.

"Look, we’re just worried about your safety, dear," King Stephan explained. "Still, we trust you... We trust that you know your limits and do not risk yourself."

Mineah weakly nodded. She could at least promise them that much.

"I’m sorry. Everything is all my fault," Ezekiel suddenly interrupted. "The chaos inside wouldn’t have been awakened if not for me."

Mineah immediately frowned at that. "Stop blaming yourself, Big Brother," she snorted. "This is all fate. It was bound to happen anyway. We all know that I’m cursed. It’s heaven’s will."

Mineah then quickly looked at her mother knowing the latter would immediately apologize to her again. So instead, she didn’t give the older woman the opportunity to do so. "And don’t say sorry, Mother. It’s not your fault. Falling in love with Father and having us as your children was definitely not a sin," she quickly stated.

"You simply broke the rules of the heavens. Rules exist to maintain peace and order here on Earth, but I guess the same goes for the Heavens."

She gulped and let out another sigh as she continued, "Punishments are inevitable for breaking the rules. Still, I yet have faith in the Heavens. I’m sure the Almighty can all see what’s in our hearts and our sincerity. This curse, like what I would always say, is not a curse, but simply, a trial that I must overcome."

There was a terse silence inside the bedchamber, nobody wanting to speak before Mineah went ahead and broke it once more.

Turning to Wizard Lurio, she asked, "Is there any news on the Ancient Book of the Dragons? We can’t let Vulcan’s soul stay inside my brother for longer than it should."

"Yes, it was in the Holy Mountain of Zion in the Kingdom of Zion," Lurio answered.

"That’s great then!!!" she beamed."I’m sure there are more details there on how we can extract Vulcan’s soul from my brother!"

"But it’s no longer there, Mineah. That Kingdom fell long ago to the hands of the Demon King. The Holy Mountain is now covered with dark magic," Ezekiel answered with gritted teeth, and Mineah could feel the anger emanating from her brother. "The ancient book is now currently in Devon’s hands... I will kill that devil!"

"Calm yourself, son," King Stephan reminded. "Devon’s army already retreated..."

Ezekiel scowled. "That’s not true. That devil is cooking something more dubious by the second, so we mustn’t put our guards down," he grumbled with seething anger. "He’s planning to take Vulcan and its power. He won’t stop conquering kingdoms either since he wants all the world under the palm of his hands. The only solution to stop Devon is to kill him... And I will do exactly that!"

Mineah frowned. Something felt off from her brother. Absently, she subconsciously placed her palm on her chest. There was a sudden pain from the divine dagger as if it wanted to get out of her chest.

Was it because of Vulcan’s soul? Was that why the dagger was acting weird? Dragons... They were immortal entities like Nikolai, and yet the dagger wouldn’t react whenever she was with Nikolai... So why would Beirut have that vision of her stabbing Nikolai?
