Chapter 189: Still Raging over Vulcan
Chapter 189: Still Raging over Vulcan
Mineah barely got any sleep for the past few days. Maybe it was because she had a lot going on inside her head, but she supposed that was simply what she had to live with at the moment.
"You’ve been yawning too much recently," Nikolai commented while she was fixing her hair. True to his words, he had become her personal assistant in everything that she had to do. Although, they would often take too much time with whatever it was that he was assisting her with due to him always adding a few extra activities whenever he helped her.
"You’ve been exhausting me too much recently," she pouted as she retorted.
Nikolai simply chuckled at her as he put on her crown as a finishing touch to her hair. "But I’m always trying my best not to disturb you during your sleeping hours, Mine." he defended himself.
Mineah conceded to that point. Well, it was true that their lovemaking would always happen whenever she woke up, sometimes while having breakfast too, and regularly whenever they would bathe together. More often than not, she would end up getting dressed only to be undressed all of a sudden. Not that she complained though since she enjoyed every waking moment of it with her husband...
And just like that, her face turned red like an overripe tomato as flashes of their extreme lovemaking came into mind.
"What are you thinking, Mine?" Nikolai whispered in her ear.
Mineah couldn’t respond as she found herself just staring at her husband leaning on her shoulder from the reflection in the mirror. He was staring at her, waiting for her to reply.
"Just that I really hope that all is well now," she muttered, followed by a heavy sigh. "That we’re really done with all of these... problems... with Niran."
Niran had told her of her decision through Nik last night saying that she didn’t have to worry anymore about her. Raul knew of the truth and had decided to still proceed with the Coupling Rites tonight that she agreed to on her own will.
"You can try reading Raul’s thoughts later if you want," Nikolai reminded her.
Mineah weakly nodded. "Let’s go then," she said as she got up from her chair. "The Coupling Rites will start soon."
Looking at her husband, Nikolai offered her his arm, and she decidedly hugged it as they walked outside heading towards the Royal Banquet Hall. The moment they arrived in the Hall, everyone greeted them eagerly.
"All hail His Majesty and Her Majesty!!!"
Greeting their people with a curt nod, Mineah let Nikolai lead her to her throne. They then sat beside one another, her gaze quickly landing on the familiar faces around them. There were only a few people invited from each clan in the kingdom, but all the high officials were present. Notably, not all of Nikolai’s siblings from his father’s side attended.
Before long, the ceremony started and proceeded with the same procedures and fanfare with her Coupling Rites with Nikolai. Niran looked so stunning in her dress as she danced beautifully, and she couldn’t help but smile at her beloved friend’s efforts.
[She looks so stunning and very much in love with your brother right now,] Mineah commented to Lai through their bond. [She’s very focused on seducing him to get him to mark her.]
[Yes. She’s good, but no one would be able to beat you, Mine,] he lovingly replied. [My eyes only see you as the best among the rest in all aspects. The rest looks so dull when compared to you... You just keep on shining in my eyes...]
Mineah let out a suppressed chuckle. [Stop that, Lai!] she scoffed through their bond, her face blushing hard as she did her best to compose herself. Her husband was trying to kill her with all of the sweet words and compliments he was giving her.
[But I’m just telling the truth... I already want this to end so that I can have some private time alone with you,] he shamelessly stated. [In fact, can you do the dance you gave to me inside our bedchamber again?]
[Stop distracting me. I’m looking for an opportunity to read the bride and groom’s thoughts,] she grumbled, trying her best to dodge from answering his request. [It’s quite hard with them moving around, let alone with you trying to distract me.]
Despite her own words, however, she was already distracted by her own thoughts.
’I wonder if there’s already any good news regarding Ezekiel’s condition,’ she suddenly thought.
Mineah smiled as she stared at Niran. She had already given Niran a few pieces of good advice about honesty, and she was glad that everything was turning out well for her friend. She was hoping that all turned out well too once she told Nikolai the truth.
Absently, Mineah turned her gaze to Nikolai who was surprisingly also staring at her as well. He smiled, as he then lovingly grabbed her hand, holding onto it firmly.
[I love you,] he whispered through their bond.
[I love you too, Lai...] she replied with her sweetest smile.
She stalled in her thoughts as she suddenly flinched from Nikolai’s hand tightening his grip onto hers. Turning to him, she saw that his face had dimmed considerably.
[Lai? What’s wrong?!]
[Vulcan appeared again, Mine,] Nikolai informed her. [I just got a report now from Ezme through our sibling bond.]
Mineah’s face paled. It looked like her brother was really struggling still to get a hold of Vulcan. She couldn’t help but feel nervous about such developments, but she tried her best to compose herself so that Nikolai wouldn’t notice her distress.
Oh how she hoped she could also have a telepathic link with her mother so that it would be easy to receive and send messages between them. She couldn’t even send Nik away to be her messenger because her pet was also connected to Nikolai.
Mineah’s shoulders sagged. She had been planning to tell Nikolai everything very soon, but somehow, seeing how he was still raging over Vulcan... She couldn’t help but hold herself back for now.
Vulcan’s soul was very powerful, and there was no way it could be expelled out of the body it merged with unless it willingly wanted to leave of its own will. And knowing that, there was absolutely no way Vulcan would ever want to leave Ezekiel’s body with him being the perfect host. In the end, it would either be Vulcan who reigned over Ezekiel’s body, or it would be Ezekiel who overpowered the dragon in him.
Still, her mother and wizard Lurio were still working on other possible ways to expel Vulcan’s soul. Although, from the looks of things, it was looking to be very impossible to attain.
Mineah bit her inner cheek as she let out a deep and heavy sigh. Maybe her mother was right. Maybe she should simply follow her mother’s suggestion for them to wait for Ezekiel to fully be able to control Vulcan in his body first. Only then would she tell Nikolai everything and convince him that her brother won’t be a danger to anyone anymore.
One way or another, Ezekiel and Vulcan would become one... So how would Nikolai exact his revenge without harming her brother?
