The Crown's Seduction -
Chapter 150: Incense Lamps
Chapter 150: Incense Lamps
Mineah quietly ate dinner with Nikolai together with her mother, Commander Atlas, Wizard Lurio, and Princess Ezme inside a makeshift tent. With the clank of their silverware, she eventually found the awkward silence unsettling enough for her to try and break it.
"The meal is great," Mineah casually spoke. "Thank you for this, Princess Ezme."
"Oh, it’s nothing. My brother was the one who asked to prepare this feast. I’m merely following his orders," the princess bluntly stated. "He wanted to make sure that Her Majesty would have a comfortable stay in the encampment in all aspects."
Hearing the answer, Mineah quickly turned to Nikolai who was surprisingly blushing upon being found out like that. Smiling, she chuckled, "Thank you, Lai."
Her husband didn’t say anything beyond a small huff. Knowing him, however, she knew that he liked the praise she just gave him.
"I heard Xenia visited you," her mother interrupted. "How is she?"
"How is Her Highness?" Atlas chimed in as well.
’I hope she’s really doing well.’
Mineah quietly sighed upon reading Atlas’s thoughts. She felt his pain, and she could only hope that he could eventually move forward with his life and let go of her sister.
"She’s doing well. King Darius loves her, and he’s very attentive and protective of my sister," Mineah reassured. "There’s no need to worry. She’s in good hands, and she looks very happy."
’That’s good to hear. As long as she’s happy... I’ll be happy for her. I don’t need to worry.’
Mineah inwardly smiled. It would seem that her worries for him were unfounded after all.
"She will soon enter the Element Forest. And I heard she’ll have to face hard trials inside," Princess Ezme chimed in, even winking at Atlas as she intently stared at him. "Although, if you’re so worried, then I can let you see and watch her later... But of course, nothing comes for free."
Mineah gulped from the sidelines. Somehow, she could feel some tension in the tent. Not that she could bother herself with other people’s affairs, however.
[Can you also read my sister’s thoughts, Mine?] Nikolai asked her through the bond. [I feel like she’s interested in this Commander. Can you help me figure it out?]
Mineah blinked at the sudden request from her husband. That was unexpected. Seeing as it was once-in-a-blue moon request, she immediately looked into Ezme’s eyes and started reading her thoughts.
’I can’t believe that he’s so head over heels for that Xenia when I’m obviously prettier and sexier than her. This Atlas... Tsk. I can’t believe I’m always stuck with a person whose eyes are on somebody else! First Darius, then this Atlas! How unfortunate!’
Mineah tried her best not to laugh, but it was quite hard for her to do so in that she ended up letting out suppressed chuckles anyway.
"My sister is definitely very admirable. Right, Mother? I mean, King Darius is very lucky to have her," Mineah remarked with a grin, ignoring how everyone was all staring at her suspiciously except for her husband. "Why, any man would be. She has everything... Beauty, brains, and definitely the perfect body any man would drool for."
[My sister badmouthed your sister, I’m guessing?] Nikolai asked through their bond.
[In a sense, I guess. She keeps comparing herself to her and talks of how better she is than my sister,] she mentally shrugged. [You’re right, by the way. Ezme likes Atlas. She’s annoyed since it’s the second time she liked someone only for her to end up with one-sided feelings. First with King Darius, and now with Atlas.]
"Will she really survive?" Ezme snorted.
"She will, Princess Ezme. That I am sure of..." her mother interrupted with a kind smile.
Mineah let out a sigh. From then on the conversation continued, and this time, Nikolai led the topic starting with his intention to lead the search for her brother and their Seer.
Hearing about his plans, Mineah and her mother exchanged meaningful glances. None of them dared to oppose Nikolai’s plan and instead, simply listened to him. However, deep inside, they already had their own understanding of the situation and had planned ahead accordingly. In fact, all Mineah needed to do was execute everything perfectly on her side while her mother and wizard Lurio would handle the rest on their end.
A few more conversations later, the dinner finally ended. From there, Mineah and Nikolai headed together to their assigned tent. Holding each other’s hands, they were both quiet as they walked through the encampment. Eventually, they reached their destination, and she was surprised at how cozy the inside of their tent looked.
"Come, I had a bath prepared for us so that we can both wash up," Nikolai whispered into her ear from behind.
Mineah’s cheeks turned crimson immediately, knowing what his seductive voice implied would happen once they were inside. But just as they were about to busy themselves, they were interrupted by one of the Ebodian soldiers.
"Your Majesty," he announced himself from outside their tent. "Here are the things the Queen wanted you to have."
Mineah turned to Nikolai and winked at him. "Wait here..." She then turned and instructed the soldier outside, "Come and bring it inside."
Dutifully, the soldier went inside and brought placed the things on the table near their bed. Then, with a curt nod, he left.
"What are those?" Nikolai asked as soon as the messenger left.
"My favorite teas along with some relaxing candles and incense lamps my mother personally made for me. I ran out of supplies a while ago, so I requested some," Mineah answered with a smile as she began positioning the incense lamps in the corners of the room and lighting them. "This is all good for my body... They’re created using potions that help with my weak constitution."
Throughout all of this, she tried her best to act naturally so that Nikolai wouldn’t be suspicious of her. After positioning them correctly, she then turned and saw that he was already naked in their bed. He was so fast that she didn’t even notice him moving.
"You do know we’re not here for a honeymoon, right?" she scoffed with a pout while staring at her husband’s lustful eyes, his devious smile adorning his face. "This is so embarrassing. Your soldiers are probably gossiping outside already..."
"And since when did you care about them talking behind our backs?" Nikolai pointed out with a chuckle. "I’m sure they’re all too busy with their own struggles to even bother with what their king and queen are doing inside the tent."
Mineah blushed at that. Then again, it was a good distraction to Nikolai while the spell was at its work. She and her mother would then need to go through the night and search the whole forest for Ezekiel. Despite the short time frame, she was confident that she’d be able to find her brother before the break of dawn.
Without a second thought, Mineah started slowly removing her clothes in front of her husband.
"Look at my little swan taking the initiative," Nikolai teased as he stared at her, hungrily watching her every move.
Mineah gave him a bashful smile while she tried her best to look more seductive with how she was removing her clothes. This was just supposed to be a distraction, but that didn’t mean she didn’t want it to happen anyway.
