The next day couldn’t come any sooner as Mineah woke up from bed. Making herself ready, she made sure that she was properly prepared for what she was planning to do.

"Are you really sure about this, Your Highness?" Dani worriedly asked her even as she helped her liege into her dress. "We both know that she’ll do anything in her power to try and get you out of your position as Queen."

Chuckling, Mineah let out a reassuring smile as she replied, "I’m sure, Dani. You’re all going to be anyway, right? I’m sure you three will be able to protect me from whatever it is that she’s cooking in the dungeons."

"But she’s clearly planning something," Krisha protested. "We all saw how desperate she is. She might try to poison you or something."

"Exactly," Zaila nodded in agreement. "And I’m pretty sure we’re not allowed to accompany you that deep in the dungeons. They’re secure for a reason, and more people going in might compromise that security."

Mineah almost wanted to laugh at the amount of worry she was hearing from her Shadow Maidens. "Ladies, I’m sure I can handle myself," she insisted with a soft smile. "I know you three are worried for me, but I’m a mage myself. And I’m pretty sure that the dungeons are one of the safest places in the castle. Nothing will happen to me down there I’m sure."

She let out another smile as she looked at her current appearance. She was almost ready... and she just happened to notice Dani wanting to speak from behind her.

"Seriously, I’ll be fine," she cut her maiden off with another disarming smile. "And I know for a fact that you three will be right behind me every step of the way. The guards might prevent you from going deeper into the dungeon with me, but you’ll still be near to me ready to act the moment you all notice something wrong, right?"

Her three Shadow Maidens all gave her a questioning look before they promptly dropped whatever it was that they wanted to say to her.

"Right," Dani sighed. "Just promise that you won’t do anything too dangerous."

Mineah simply nodded as she finally felt the last touches of her dress being added. Standing up, she gave herself one last look over before she promptly made her way out of her room. Behind her, her Shadow Maidens dutifully followed, making sure that she was safe despite the current tension filling the palace.

Though, she really wouldn’t if they took a bit of time for themselves. While they were worried for her and all that, she was pretty sure she could take care of herself. Granted, Dani was right in that Rosela could still be a dangerous opponent despite being locked up, she wasn’t a slouch with magic in her own right. She was more than ready for whatever dark magic the woman might throw at her, even if she somehow managed to prepare a nasty spell despite being locked up in a dungeon and away from whatever she used to create her dark magic.

And thus, she made her way to the dungeons of the castle, but not before making a detour to Minister Haman’s office to have him grant her permission to visit Rosela in the first place. Sure, she could’ve just used her authority as Queen to barge her way into the dungeon, following procedures would give her a better image, and it’d add more points of communication for any would-be investigators should something happen to her.

"Ah, Your Majesty. Welcome..."

Reaching her destination, Mineah gave Minister Haman a curt bow before allowing herself a seat on the nearest chair in front of his table. Behind her, her Shadow Maidens stood at the ready, though she did give them a silent signal to do what they did best and gather possible information they could use in the future.

"So, what brings you here, Your Majesty?" Minister Haman asked as he took a seat on his own chair. "I’m sure this isn’t just a courtesy visit."

"I’m here to ask for permission to visit Rosela’s cell," Mineah curtly stated, going straight to the point to save time.

"I see," the man hummed as he stroked his chin, his gaze boring straight into hers as he spoke. "Very well. I don’t see why not. But why exactly do you wish to do so? Have you eaten breakfast yet? Perhaps we can go together."

Mineah blinked as he stared into the minister’s eyes. Immediately, she felt the familiar power of hypnosis trying to worm its way into her head. Obviously, it didn’t work, but she didn’t appreciate this man trying to compel her to do whatever it was he wanted her to do in the first place.

"With all due respect, I have much to do," Mineah hummed as she exerted her own power through her right eye. He wanted to control her? Then she might as well just try to control him back. "Would you kindly just give me the permission I need to enter the dungeons?"

To her eternal amusement, the minister was quick to do her bidding as his eyes faintly shone with her power. Taking out a piece of parchment, he gave out his signature before promptly giving it to her without even a blink.

"Here you go, Your Majesty," Minister Haman droned, her influence clearly in effect. "Apologies for keeping you here. Please take care now."

Dropping her power, Mineah gave the man another curt bow before promptly leaving his office. She was sure that he’d be a bit disoriented from the experience, but she’d be long gone before he could even question what happened.

"That was close, Your Majesty," Dani remarked as they made their way to the dungeon’s entrance. "You’re really convincing whenever you put your mind to it."

"They did say I have a certain charm to me," Mineah smirked with a knowing chuckle. "Now, let’s get this visit over with. I want answers, and hopefully, I get them from the woman herself."
