Chapter 267: Chapter 267: I Can Bring My Grandfather Back to Life
"Manman, you’re here!" Hu Guanghua was the first to spot Jiang Man, his eyes brimming with excited tears.
He stepped forward swiftly, taking her hand, "Come, come to your grandfather’s side. The doctor said he can hear us, talk to your grandfather."
Jiang Man approached the sickbed and first carefully checked the values on the machine.
Then she looked at the old man’s complexion.
"What are you hesitating for? Kneel down to your grandfather!" Jiang Yueping lifted his head and pulled Jiang Man, trying to draw her into their grieving ranks.
After the old man passed away, his property would inevitably be divided among his children.
The goal of Jiang Yueping and Hu Fangqin’s visit was precisely for the inheritance.
It was unfortunate that Hu Zuhua, the most tender-hearted, had informed the youngest sister first about their father’s critical condition.
He believed that they were all close blood relatives, no matter what had caused past rifts, those were things of the past.
A father was about to depart this world; as a daughter, it was imperative to show filial piety and see him one last time.
"Is this Manman?" Hu Zuhua, the youngest of the four brothers and also the softest at heart, asked.
He had long known that the eldest brother had found the abandoned niece and had intended to visit her in the north city.
Upon hearing this, Jiang Man looked up, her gaze landing on Hu Zuhua, she quickly sized him up: "Fourth Uncle~"
She tried to make her voice sound more emotional.
Hu Zuhua was surprised, "Big brother, have you shown Manman a picture of me?"
"No." Hu Guanghua frowned.
"Then Manman, how did you know I was your fourth uncle?" Hu Zuhua’s eyes sparkled with curiosity about how his niece recognized him.
Jiang Man did not rush to speak, surveying her surroundings before fixing her gaze on two other tall, middle-aged men.
"Third Uncle, Second Uncle." She greeted each in turn.
The uncles looked at each other, all increasingly curious.
Jiang Man, calm and collected, commented lightly, "Fourth Uncle is in the sports industry, you must love sports, your bones and limb lines would be more robust and sturdier than those of an average person."
"Third Uncle works in the catering industry. I heard that you personally try new dishes at every restaurant, and you love to cook yourself. Your potbelly, the most corpulent among the uncles, shows that you usually eat quite a lot."
"As for Second Uncle, a major player behind the scenes in the entertainment industry, a magnet for everybody, a person well-versed in the world of fame and money, quite different from people in other circles, carrying a stronger commercial aroma."
Jiang Man objectively made her analysis, her wording precise.
But to Jiang Rou, her choice of words sounded like she was belittling the uncles.
"Sis, you said Third Uncle is corpulent? I don’t think he is fat; it’s normal for middle-aged men to put on weight. And Second Uncle, where does he smell of money? He’s clearly a handsome uncle!" Jiang Rou quickly wiped her tear-stained face, making it seem like Jiang Man was tactless and of low emotional intelligence, while she herself was sweet-tongued and highly emotionally intelligent.
Jiang Man arched an eyebrow, "It’s okay to be corpulent, Third Uncle, I’ll customize a fitness package for you later. Given your condition, you probably have hypertension, diabetes, and high cholesterol. Take care of your health."
"As for Second Uncle, is a commercial aroma bad? Wealthy people carry that scent, unlike some people who are so poor they jangle, smelling only of poverty."
"You..." Jiang Rou clenched her teeth in anger.
Who’s poor?
Who’s poor!
Who smells of poverty?
"Haha!" When Jiang Rou was seething with rage, Hu Yaohua suddenly burst into hearty laughter.
He turned towards his elder brother, nodding in satisfaction, "Just as you said, this girl is very clever!"
"Being able to distinguish us from our characteristics, she indeed has a certain cleverness," Hu Zonghua couldn’t help but praise as well.
The uncles were very impressed with Jiang Man on this first meeting; they all liked intelligent children.
Jiang Man had no time to show off her skills and ignored her four uncles as she approached the hospital bed.
She extended her middle finger and touched the old man’s wrist to feel his pulse.
"Manman, you know how to take the pulse?" Hu Zuhua asked curiously, stepping forward.
Jiang Man nodded slightly, "Yes."
Upon seeing this, everyone’s face registered disbelief.
But the four uncles did not make another sound, instead, they watched Jiang Man’s every move intently.
After feeling the pulse for a while, she turned to ask everyone, "How long has this been going on?"
The four uncles didn’t react at first.
Hu Fangqin couldn’t help but interrupt, "Your grandfather has been like this for over twenty years now, all because of me..."
As she spoke, she covered her face and burst into loud sobs.
Jiang Yueping, upon seeing this, acted even more dramatically than his wife, and raised his hand to slap his own face, "If I hadn’t insisted on eloping with Fangqin back then, grandfather wouldn’t have fallen ill from anger. I am to blame, I am to blame! Oh Lord, please let grandfather suffer less and make it easier for him to pass away!"
Hearing his words, everyone in the hospital room began to cry as well.
Jiang Man found the sound of crying annoying, especially the insincere sobs from her parents and Jiang Rou, which infuriated her.
"Who said grandfather is going?" she said coldly, her piercing gaze sweeping over her ’grieving’ parents.
"The doctors said so... They said your grandfather’s condition is bad... it’s just a matter of a day or two now..." Jiang Yueping replied with a sorrowful look as he raised his head.
Jiang Man scoffed, then took off the backpack she had been carrying and turned to Hu Guanghua, "Eldest uncle, could you please ask everyone here to leave?"
"Everyone to leave?" Hu Guanghua was surprised.
"Yes," Jiang Man answered tersely, irritation written all across her brow as if she might explode at any moment.
"I can bring grandfather back," she stated coldly. "Of course, the process will take a considerably long time, and I can’t guarantee that grandfather will be like a normal person, but at least I can make him regain consciousness."
"Regain consciousness? Are you joking?" Jiang Yueping raised his voice involuntarily.
"Manman... this is not the place for your nonsense..." Hu Fangqin stood up and tried to drag Jiang Man aside.
Seeing this, Jiang Rou stepped forward to help, "Sis, grandfather has been in a vegetative state for over twenty years, and numerous doctors haven’t helped. Yet you say you can make him wake up? Sis, please don’t believe in these superstitions, they’re all nonsense!"
Jiang Man had just taken the old man’s pulse, and she was sure of her ability when she said those words to her uncles.
"Manman, how will you treat your grandfather?" Hu Guanghua asked carefully.
If she really had the ability, then he would consider supporting her.
The condition was that Manman had to present a compelling explanation to persuade everyone.
"Just use this," Jiang Man pulled out a black cloth package from her backpack.
She had come to Thailand to participate in a variety show, planning to visit her grandfather right after the show ended.
Therefore, she had prepared her equipment in advance, instructing her housekeeper to declare her acupuncture tools at customs and handled the necessary procedures beforehand.
As she spoke, she unfolded the cloth package.
When hundreds, thousands of silver needles were revealed to everyone, they exchanged looks, at a loss for words.
"Acupuncture?" Hu Zonghua asked, puzzled.
"Acupuncture," Hu Zuhua couldn’t help but say, looking at Jiang Man, "Do you understand traditional Chinese medicine?"
"Quite well," because she needed to overcome public opinion to save someone, Jiang Man was uncharacteristically forthright instead of being secretive as usual.
But it was her candor that made others feel she was just boasting because of her young age.
"Quite well? Manman, at a time like this, are you still here bluffing and causing trouble?" Hu Fangqin yanked her forcefully, "Quick, kowtow to your grandfather, let’s send him off with dignity!"
