Chapter 109: Chapter 109: New Vest, Best Lyrics, Best Composition
"Where are you two right now?" Jiang Man asked coldly, trying to suppress the irritability at the tip of her eyebrows.
"We’re at the security office."
"Fine, wait there."
After hanging up, Jiang Man glanced in the direction of the second floor. Seeing that Song Xiao hadn’t come downstairs yet, she decided not to wait and left with Wen Rui.
The security office wasn’t far from the Song Family home; it took just two minutes to get there.
Before they even got close, the noisy squabbling of Zhang Ziqi and Mao Lili could be heard, annoyingly loud.
As Jiang Man strode over with her long legs, she saw a black minivan parked at the entrance of the security office with two bodyguards standing in front of it.
The window of the minivan rolled down, revealing a young woman in sunglasses, dressed very fashionably.
She wore a deep V-neck black blazer with nothing underneath, her skin as white as snow.
A pair of oversized brown sunglasses sat on her delicate and small nose, completely covering her palm-sized face.
The celebrity lifted her hand to glance at the gemstone watch on her wrist, showing an impatient expression.
"How much longer? If they don’t show up soon, just call the police."
"Yes," the bodyguard bowed and nodded.
"Here they come!" Zhang Ziqi and Mao Lili jumped around as if they had seen a savior.
"Sister Man, we are here!"
Jiang Man walked over with an expressionless face and long strides.
The female celebrity adjusted her sunglasses and sized up Jiang Man from head to toe.
She was quite beautiful and her temperament wasn’t bad either, but she wasn’t wearing any designer clothes at all. She didn’t look much different from the two schoolgirls.
With their attire, claiming to have friends living in this neighborhood was hard to believe.
Who in this area isn’t worth hundreds of millions?
Who would be friends with people as poor as them?
"Is this the friend you mentioned who can prove you’re not sasaeng fans?"
The female celebrity showed a mocking expression.
"How can you prove it?"
Jiang Man ignored her and walked over to Zhang Ziqi. "What happened?"
"I’m a bit confused too. After coming out from the Song Family, Lili and I were just wandering around the neighborhood, then Lili spotted this female celebrity, He Xiuyan, a popular Korean girl idol who just returned to the country this year. She got really excited, took out her phone to take pictures, but then the bodyguards from the van noticed, rushed towards us, snatched our phones, deleted the photos, and even threatened to call the police and arrest us!"
"Why would they arrest us? We didn’t do anything." Mao Lili added aggrievedly, "Besides, this is a public place; it’s not illegal to take photos, right? She is a public figure, isn’t that what we’re supposed to do?"
"What a joke," He Xiuyan smirked, "I just checked into a hotel in Beicheng, and I noticed someone following my car. When I went to shoot a commercial, someone slashed my car tires. These few days, sasaeng fans have been disturbing me nonstop. Coincidentally, I caught you secretly taking pictures of me. Are you still trying to argue that you’re not sasaeng fans?"
"Who’s your sasaeng fan? I’m just a passerby," Zhang Ziqi complained.
Mao Lili pouted angrily, "I’ve switched biases. I used to like listening to your songs, but now I’m definitely blocking you."
"Heh," He Xiuyan scoffed.
She didn’t care about losing two fans. She had thirty million fans across the internet, these two meant nothing.
"Proof," He Xiuyan was impatient, "My time is precious. If you can’t prove it, then we’ll just have to call the police."
"Want proof? It’s easy. Check the surveillance. My friends and I entered this neighborhood half an hour ago. You say my friend followed you, and following means entering the neighborhood after you, right?"
"Sasaeng fans would investigate my schedule thoroughly and stake out in advance. However..." He Xiuyan was confident, "Coming here was a last-minute decision for me. Indeed, sasaeng fans couldn’t have anticipated and staked out in advance. As long as it can be proven that they arrived before me, I’m willing to let it go."
"Fine, check the surveillance," Jiang Man gestured to the security guard.
However, the security guard seemed unreasonable and looked at the female celebrity and Jiang Man. "Sorry, this is a private high-end community; we cannot simply allow people to check the surveillance, not even the residents themselves. You should report this to the police."
How should I put it? This kind of community often sees big bosses bringing their secretaries discreetly, and there had been an incident where a boss’s wife demanded to see the surveillance to catch a mistress and publicly stripped her.
Luckily, that incident was suppressed by the big boss, otherwise, if it reached the public, it would affect the community’s reputation.
Each resident here was either rich or noble, and if the community’s reputation was tarnished, the big bosses would all move away, and their community would be doomed.
Therefore, after that incident, the community adopted an unwritten rule: no one, except the police, could access the surveillance without authorization.
"What a hassle." He Xiuyan ran out of patience and directed one of her bodyguards. "You stay here to handle this; you, get in the car."
After giving the orders, she took out her phone and sent a message:
[Brother, I’ve arrived. Surprised? I’m right in front of your house; you should be home, right?]
There was no response on the other end.
Soon, Jiang Man’s phone rang.
"Hello? Big bro."
"Where are you?"
"At the security post."
"I see."
Song Xiao strode over and waved his hand.
In the nanny van, He Xiuyan, seeing this, happily pushed open the door and jumped out.
Wearing high heels several inches tall and a strong scent of perfume, she brushed past Jiang Man and walked excitedly toward Song Xiao.
Song Xiao was stunned for a moment, his expression very unnatural. "Xiuyan, why are you here?"
"What, aren’t you happy to see me?" He Xiuyan immediately hooked Song Xiao’s arm, pouted, and started complaining. "The moment I got here, I encountered fans stalking celebrities; those four are probably among them. You wouldn’t believe it, but these fans have been torturing me for days."
"Stalking fans?" Song Xiao seemed to hear a fantastical tale. "Them?"
"Yes." He Xiuyan cooed. "The security here really doesn’t understand, not even letting us check the surveillance, so I had no choice but to call the police."
"Call the police? He Xiuyan, did a donkey kick your head?"
"Big brother Song, why do you have to insult me?" He Xiuyan looked utterly wronged, her deer-like eyes shimmering, ready to cry any second.
"Calling you names is the least of it; I ought to hit you. Get lost!" Song Xiao, out of patience, pushed her away and took large strides toward Jiang Man.
"Manman, I’m sorry about this. This is my sister Xiuyan. It’s like a flood at Dragon King Temple, family not recognizing family," he explained awkwardly.
"Sister?" Jiang Man sneered. "You sure have a lot of ’sisters.’"
Her tone was full of irony.
He Xiuyan was confused. "Big brother Song, you know each other?"
"Yes, this is my god-sister, Jiang Man," Song Xiao introduced.
As soon as He Xiuyan heard the words ’god-sister,’ she clenched her lips tightly, her eyes shadowed with resentment.
In the entertainment circle, god-sister often meant a different kind of ’sister.’
"Big brother Song, didn’t you say you would wait for me for three years? I know you couldn’t stand the loneliness these three years and would find someone new, but at least find someone of quality. You picked someone plain like plain water, I’m not convinced!"
"???" He Xiuyan’s words baffled the four girls.
Song Xiao’s face immediately turned green. "What are you thinking? She’s my god-daughter, recognized by grandfather, not like those other meaningless god-sisters."
"Ah? I see," He Xiuyan finally burst into smiles. "It was all a misunderstanding, just a misunderstanding."
"A misunderstanding?" Jiang Man snorted, "In my book, misunderstandings aren’t so easily resolved."
"What do you mean?" He Xiuyan frowned.
She had given her face, yet the other party didn’t want it?
"No meaning, apologize to my friend and this will be over!"
"Apologize?" He Xiuyan could hardly believe her ears.
Where did this student get the courage to demand an apology from her?
"Manman, let’s just forget about it?" Mao Lili tugged at Jiang Man, looking somewhat cowardly.
Zhang Ziqi, however, was unwilling to let it go, "How can we just forget about it? In our country, celebrities are exalted to the skies, making them think they’re above everyone else. They don’t even consider us common folks, it’s all because of fans like you who indulge them that they become even more arrogant!"
"How can this be blamed on me?" Mao Lili felt aggrieved.
Although Jiang Man was annoyed with Zhang Ziqi and Mao Lili, they had come out with her today, and if anything happened, she naturally had to cover for them.
If they hadn’t been with her, she definitely wouldn’t have bothered with their troubles.
"You have two choices, apologize and resolve the matter; two, we take this online." Jiang Man said coldly, her expression grim, showing little patience.
"We’re in a hurry to go to the amusement park, we don’t have time to dawdle."
"You!" He Xiuyan’s face turned green with anger, she tugged at Song Xiao, "Brother Xiao, I don’t want to apologize, your god-sister is unrelenting. I already said it was a misunderstanding, yet she keeps hounding me."
"Just apologize, I can’t help you." Song Xiao pocketed his hands, showing a helpless demeanor.
He Xiuyan was incredulous.
Three years ago, she had been promoted heavily by Song Xiao, and later when she wanted to go to Korea to boost her profile, he had again spent a fortune to send her there.
He had crafted a girl group for her, propelling her to debut as the center position.
Latterly she had become increasingly popular, her girl group even sweeping across Asia.
She used to be the apple of his eye, why was his attitude now so cold?
"You grow tired of the old in favor of the new." He Xiuyan cried bitterly, removing her sunglasses.
Her assistant quickly handed her a tissue, supporting her on the side, "Xiuyan, please don’t cry. Haven’t you been having eye discomfort recently? Don’t ruin your eyes, we have to shoot a commercial tomorrow, how will you explain red eyes to the client?"
"Wuwuwu..." Instead of stopping, He Xiuyan’s crying grew louder.
Song Xiao, exasperated by the noise, secretly glanced at Jiang Man.
Seeing Jiang Man’s expression set in stone, indicating no room for negotiation, he gritted his teeth, held He Xiuyan’s head, and walked them up to Zhang Ziqi and Mao Lili, "Quick, apologize."
His initial tone was still relatively calm.
When He Xiuyan refused, he became irate, "Are you going to apologize or not?"
"I’m sorry..." Where had she seen Song Xiao treat her with such an attitude?
Her sense of injustice rushed over her like a tidal wave, uncontrollable.
"Wuwuwu."
Song Xiao found these sobs increasingly irritating.
Seeing an opportunity to leave, Jiang Man shot him a glance, "Pamper your darling wife, we’re off to the amusement park."
"Manman." Song Xiao wanted to follow but was held back by He Xiuyan, who clung to his arm and refused to let go.
Since they had arrived in Song Xiao’s car, they now had to leave and hail a cab from the roadside.
Only after they had left did He Xiuyan stop crying.
She knew how to manipulate men; crying too long annoys them, you have to make them pity you, not annoy them.
"Brother Xiao, I was wrong," she cooed like an obedient kitten, leaning on Song Xiao’s shoulder, gazing up at him.
When Song Xiao met her gaze, he sighed helplessly, truly at a loss with her.
"So, the tall girl really is the granddaughter recognized by Grandpa, you weren’t lying to me?"
"Why would I lie to you?" Song Xiao rolled his eyes at her.
"True," Xiuyan chuckled: "You’re not short of women around you, and which one doesn’t openly acknowledge it? But why do you pamper her so much? Is it because Grandpa likes her?"
Song Xiao fell silent.
It wasn’t just Grandpa who liked her, he did too.
Unfortunately, she already belonged to someone else.
"You know Grandpa likes his granddaughter, so don’t provoke Manman again, or I won’t help you."
"Okay then," Xiuyan pouted playfully, smiling sweetly.
"Will you keep me company tonight?" she batted her eyelashes, like a kitten asking for affection.
Song Xiao hesitated for a moment.
He had realized that since meeting Jiang Man, it seemed he hadn’t touched another woman.
Having abstained for over a month, he started to suspect something was wrong with him.
Damn, he seemed to feel nothing toward women.
"Alright," he decided to see if things would work out with Xiuyan.
After all, there’s a saying, "Absence makes the heart grow fonder."
They had done more than just parted briefly; she had been in South Korea for three years, and he occasionally flew over, meeting up no more than a handful of times a year.
"Would your place be okay? It would be thrilling," Xiuyan’s cheeks reddened, her eyes seductive.
Song Xiao felt a tinge of sensation, pulling her closer by the shoulder: "Let’s go, let’s go!"
At the villa, Song Xiao directly picked her up around the waist and headed straight for the second floor.
The house servants were used to such scenes, but they were curious since the young master hadn’t brought home a woman for a long time; Miss Xiuyan was the first in over a month.
"Xiao~ Shall we take a bath?" Xiuyan asked coyly as she was carried to the bed.
Song Xiao, impatient, began unbuttoning his shirt: "I like the smell of sweat on your body; it’s stimulating."
"You’re so bad~" Xiuyan blushed.
As he moved in closer, her pale arms wrapped around his neck, and her legs instinctively encircled his waist.
"Brother Xiao, I just returned to the country and I want to release an album to break into the domestic market. There’s this Chinese songwriter, I think her name is Wild Rose; could you please ask her to come and write some songs for me?"
"I can..." Song Xiao buried his face in her neck, inhaling her scent.
For some reason, he found her perfume too overpowering, giving him a headache.
"Xiao, you’re so nice!" Xiuyan exclaimed happily, kissing him on the face.
"So, shall we..." she signaled seductively.
Song Xiao lifted her delicate face with his finger, and just as he was about to kiss her, Jiang Man’s face appeared before his eyes.
Cool and confident, defiant and flamboyant.
He startled.
He blinked, and when he looked carefully again, the face had returned to that of Xiuyan, enchanting and enticing...
