Ye Chaochao had graduated and was now working at her family’s company. They were currently handling a new project, and Ye Chaochao had just returned from a half-month business trip and was still at the airport.

"We’ve secured the project. Everyone go back and rest up today. We’ll continue the hard work next Monday," the department manager said.

The crowd cheered and left the airport together, ready to take taxis back to rest.

Ye Chaochao didn’t take a taxi because her family’s driver was waiting outside. After saying goodbye to her colleagues, Ye Chaochao left first.

Watching Ye Chaochao leave, a colleague couldn’t help but remark with envy, "I’m so jealous."

The department supervisor kept smiling but turned to look at the colleague who had just spoken. Though he said nothing, the colleague shuddered and quickly shut their mouth.

In the car, driver Xiao Zhao started driving away while asking Ye Chaochao through the rearview mirror, "Miss, are we going directly home?"

"No, take me to Zhongheng first," Ye Chaochao said somewhat excitedly.

"Alright, Miss." The driver obliged and then headed in the direction of Zhongheng Capital.

Ye Chaochao took out her phone, quickly opened Ji Yanlin’s chat window, and was about to send a message when she saw the last message was still her own apology to Ji Yanlin, "I’m sorry."

Up to now, Ji Yanlin had not replied. Ye Chaochao pouted and huffed with a touch of arrogance.

It wasn’t like she deliberately broke their date; work had unexpectedly come up, and she couldn’t return on time. There was nothing she could do.

She couldn’t just abandon her work and rush back without a care just to celebrate Qixi together, could she?

After staring at her phone for a while, Ye Chaochao gathered her mood. Alright, she was at fault after all, not just for breaking the Qixi date, but also for neglecting Ji Yanlin in various ways recently because of work.

Ye Chaochao sighed and let it go, deciding not to hold it against Ji Yanlin any longer.

She’d give him a surprise in a little while and make it up to him, so he wouldn’t be mad at her.

Halfway through the ride, Ye Chaochao looked at her face. She hadn’t put on makeup because she had rushed to catch the plane early in the morning. After being busy for half a month without proper rest, not only did she look haggard, but she had also lost some weight.

The makeup products were all in her suitcase. Ye Chaochao rummaged through her bag and found only lipstick and a compact for touch-ups.

After thinking it over, Ye Chaochao applied the lipstick to avoid having no color on her lips at all.

When she arrived at Zhongheng, it was already past noon.

This was Ye Chaochao’s first time visiting Zhongheng. After getting out of the car, she knew she probably couldn’t get in, so she prepared to coax Ji Yanlin to come down.

Just as Ye Chaochao was trying to think up an excuse, she suddenly heard someone calling her, "Chaochao?"

Ye Chaochao instinctively looked up and then saw Ji Yunting, clad in a suit and leather shoes, coming out of the company building, accompanied by several men who looked just as formal.

"Uncle Ji," Ye Chaochao hurriedly called out and walked toward him.

Ji Yunting stopped in his tracks, looking somewhat surprised as he asked, "Are you here for Yanlin?"

Feeling a bit embarrassed, Ye Chaochao nodded, "Yes."

"Why didn’t he come down to meet you?" Ji Yunting couldn’t help frowning. It was such hot weather, and letting someone wait outside was not ideal.
