Chapter 78: Chapter 78 The Annoying Relative

That very night, Ye Wanwan changed her profile picture to one where she was holding Taozhi.

When it came time to sleep, Ye Wanwan wanted to take Taozhi to bed with her, but Shen Yi opposed the idea.

Ye Wanwan then acted coquettishly toward Shen Yi, attempting to get her way, but Shen Yi stood firm and wasn’t swayed by Ye Wanwan’s charms.

The final outcome was Ye Wanwan getting angry, to the point where she wouldn’t even let Shen Yi hold her in his arms as they slept.

Helpless, Shen Yi could only wait for Ye Wanwan to fall asleep before cuddling her into his embrace.

Saturday.

It was the day to return to Shallow Bay, and Ye Wanwan got up early to check on Taozhi.

The maid had prepared goat’s milk powder for Taozhi and mixed in some cat food, which Taozhi gobbled up as if starved for a long time, burying its head in the bowl to eat.

Every time Ye Wanwan saw it, she was captivated anew, squatting beside it and clicking away with her phone non-stop.

In the end, it was Shen Yi who had to pull her away to have breakfast before they set out for Shallow Bay.

Upon arriving, they found two more cars parked outside the villa. Shen Yi wasn’t familiar with them, so he didn’t know whose they were, but Ye Wanwan couldn’t help frowning.

"They’re here again!" Ye Wanwan said with some irritation.

Shen Yi, still confused, asked, "What happened?"

Ye Wanwan jerked her chin toward the two cars, "They’re from my great-uncle’s family."

Shen Yi raised his eyebrows slightly, indicating he understood.

He wasn’t very familiar with the Ye family’s relatives, but he wasn’t completely clueless either.

"They’re really spoiling my mood," Ye Wanwan sighed. She hadn’t even entered yet but was already anticipating how angry she’d get.

Shen Yi stroked her head, trying to calm her, "Why bother about insignificant people?"

"I’m not bothered, but I just can’t stand them!"

As they talked, they walked toward the villa. Just as they approached the entrance, Ye Wanwan already heard her great-aunt’s shrill and loud voice.

Su Xiangyi was the first to notice her daughter and son-in-law. She was about to say something but was preempted by Bai Xiuzhu who was beside her.

"Yo, Wanwan and Shen Yi are back!" Bai Xiuzhu exclaimed with excitement, as if they were her own dear daughter and son-in-law.

"Little Sister, Brother-in-law, you’re here," Ye Shiying, Bai Xiuzhu’s daughter, also hurried to greet them.

Ye Wanwan glanced at them and then went first to Su Xiangyi, calling out sweetly, "Mom."

Shen Yi followed suit with a call of, "Mom."

"You’re back," Su Xiangyi responded indifferently.

Afterward, Ye Wanwan reluctantly turned to Bai Xiuzhu and Ye Shiying and greeted, "Great-aunt, Sister."

Shen Yi did the same.

"Wanwan, sit down. Your great-aunt hasn’t seen you in such a long time," Bai Xiuzhu said with a smile, speaking as if she was the mistress of the house.

Ye Wanwan, resisting the impatience welling up inside her, sat down on the sofa with Shen Yi.

"Seeing Wanwan and Shen Yi together really is a sight for sore eyes, a true pair of talents and beauty," Bai Xiuzhu said with a smile.

Su Xiangyi just smiled and didn’t say much, leading to a momentary silence in the living room that turned rather awkward.

Ye Shiying quickly jumped in to smooth things over, "Today I saw on Wanwan’s WeChat profile that she was holding a kitten. Wanwan, did you get a cat?"

"Yeah," Ye Wanwan nodded.

Bai Xiuzhu immediately picked up the conversation, "Aiyo, so you’ve even started keeping a cat!"
