Not until the afternoon did Ye Wanwan wrap Zhouzhou up snugly and set out with him to pick up Shen Yi.

Waiting for just two or three minutes, Ye Wanwan spotted several figures in the distance. Slightly nærsighted over the past two years, she couldn’t see them clearly but felt it must be Shen Yi.

Because of his excitement, Zhouzhou squirmed in Ye Wanwan’s arms, and she almost couldn’t hold on to him.

With servants also on holiday for the New Year, the family made the reunion dinner together, cheerfully enjoying the feast as one.

Zhouzhou had a very regular bedtime and by around nine o’clock, he was already sleepy. Ye Wanwan and Shen Yi then took him upstairs for a bath, before lulling him to sleep.

After Zhouzhou fell asleep, Ye Wanwan and Shen Yi didn’t sleep either. They leaned on each other, chatting about trivial things, until the stroke of midnight when the sky burst into brilliant fireworks.

Ye Wanwan and Shen Yi stepped out onto the balcony. It was snowing outside, and despite Beijing’s ban on fireworks, there were always some who dared to set them off each year.

Watching the fireworks, Ye Wanwan turned to Shen Yi beside her, tiptoed, and whispered in his ear, "Happy New Year!"

"Happy New Year." Shen Yi turned to Ye Wanwan, his eyes brimming with tenderness, and the next second, pulled her into his embrace.

The two shared a kiss among the fireworks and snowscape in the new year.

The following day.

Today was the first day of the Lunar New Year, and when Shen Yi awoke, Zhouzhou was already up. Seeing that Ye Wanwan was still sound asleep, Shen Yi took Zhouzhou to freshen up first.

Later, Shen Yi didn’t disturb Ye Wanwan, taking Zhouzhou downstairs for breakfast. It wasn’t until nearly ten o’clock, when Ye Wanwan was still not up, that Shen Yi went upstairs to check on her.
