Zhouzhou just shyly smiled at Ye Wanwan, his eyes seemingly sparkling with little stars, shining brightly.

Ye Wanwan herself could casually wipe a strawberry and pop it into her mouth, but she dared not be so carefree with Zhouzhou.

She noticed that beside the strawberry field there was a small brick-and-tile house, a temporary resting place for the strawberry field’s owner, where there was water available.

"Zhouzhou, stay here and pick strawberries, Mommy will be back in a moment, okay?" Ye Wanwan discussed with Zhouzhou.

Zhouzhou naturally nodded obediently, and Ye Wanwan patted his head before turning to walk towards the small house.

She hadn’t picked many strawberries, but she had a basketful, while Su Tong and Zhang Xuehan had been diligently picking and had already brought over several baskets of strawberries.

Ye Wanwan negotiated with the owner to weigh a portion of the strawberries first, preparing to wash them for the kids to eat, and include them in their overall pickings, to settle the account later.

The owner generously told them to eat as much as they wanted, even to the point of being full!

Ye Wanwan felt embarrassed, but ultimately couldn’t convince the owner otherwise, so she just washed some strawberries and took them over.

After she washed the strawberries and brought them over, she also asked a few kids to wash their hands first, then let them eat strawberries on the side. While the kids were busy eating, Ye Wanwan picked quite a few more strawberries.

By eleven-thirty, Su Tong said it was about time to head back to prepare lunch. They brought all the strawberries to be weighed, which altogether amounted to eighty pounds.

Strawberries can’t be squashed, so they were packed in individual baskets, each holding four to five pounds, stretching over ten baskets on the ground.

The shop owner said they could borrow a small three-wheeler to make it easier to transport the strawberries to town and to help sell them. He also offered to lend them his family’s van.

Ye Wanwan and the others, having solved the issue of transportation and delivery, were naturally happy. They thanked the owner, and Zhang Xuehan drove the three-wheeler back while Su Tong drove the van to take them home.

Back at their little courtyard home, the kids were playing in the living room, and the mothers were in the kitchen preparing lunch.

The refrigerator was almost out of anything substantial for a proper meal, so they turned out everything they had left.

There were custard buns left from breakfast, six eggs, a packet of noodles, a head of cabbage, and some milk and bread in the fridge.

So they decided to cook everything, figuring they would make do with what they had for now, and after selling the strawberries for money in the afternoon, they could treat everyone to a good meal in the evening.

"The kids are getting sleepy. Let them have a nap after lunch. Besides, it’s midday, and there probably won’t be anyone on the streets. Let’s clean up around two o’clock and go over," said Su Tong.

What Su Tong said made sense, and no one had any objections. Before lunch was even over, Zhouzhou was already dozing off. Ye Wanwan picked him up, "I’m going to put Zhouzhou to bed first, and then I’ll come down to clean up later."

"No worries, go ahead," Zhang Xuehan waved her hand, not minding at all.

Ye Wanwan carried Zhouzhou back to the bedroom, changed him into fresh clothes, and then made some formula.

Zhouzhou clutched his bottle, lying beside Ye Wanwan, and before he could finish the formula, he had already fallen into a deep sleep.

After Zhouzhou fell asleep, Ye Wanwan carefully got out of bed, then left the bedroom.

When she got downstairs, she saw Su Tong cleaning the dining area, while Zhang Xuehan was washing dishes inside.
