Chapter 516: Chapter 515: Is It a Punishment for Her?

"Of course, if you have a systematic plan in place, then follow your own schedule. I just mentioned it in passing," Tang Xiaorou said.

Ye Wanwan remained silent, her expression rather serious. Ever since Zhouzhou had been unable to turn over by himself, she had been constantly worried over the past year.

In her previous life, she had been neglectful of Zhouzhou and didn’t know what his development process was like.

But one thing Ye Wanwan was sure of was that Zhouzhou definitely hadn’t been like he was now, otherwise, she would have known about such a significant matter. It wasn’t just a matter of being neglectful.

Sometimes, Ye Wanwan wondered if this was a punishment from heaven?

But if it was a punishment for her, why didn’t it come directly upon her?

Was it because heaven wanted Zhouzhou to suffer so that her heart would ache?

Ye Wanwan couldn’t figure it out.

After a while, Ye Wanwan finally said, "I’ll think about it, and when Shen Yi comes back later in the evening, I’ll discuss it with him."

"Okay," Tang Xiaorou nodded in agreement.

Tang Xiaorou and Yu Qiqi had nothing to do today, and they didn’t leave until after lunch when Zhouzhou had already started to feel sleepy.

After seeing them off, Ye Wanwan carried Zhouzhou upstairs to take a nap with him in the bedroom.

...

Shen Yi had entertainment in the evening and by the time he returned home, it was already past ten o’clock.

The housemaid was cleaning downstairs and greeted Shen Yi. She then reminded him, "Madam had the kitchen prepare sobering soup for you."

"Okay," Shen Yi nodded. Although he hadn’t drunk much, Wanwan had specially ordered it, so he decided he might as well drink it.

Shen Yi didn’t wait for the housemaid to get it for him, and went into the kitchen himself. After drinking the sobering soup, he then headed upstairs.

Shen Yi stood at the door of the children’s room and knocked, and the nanny quickly opened it. Seeing Shen Yi outside, she whispered, "Sir."

"Hmm, I’m going in to check on Zhouzhou," Shen Yi whispered back, worrying that any carelessness might awake Zhouzhou.

The nanny stepped aside, and Shen Yi walked in to see Zhouzhou already fast asleep on the children’s bed.

Shen Yi watched from a distance; he had drunk a little tonight and smelled of alcohol, and since he had just returned from outside, he hadn’t changed his clothes or washed his hands, so it wasn’t right for him to touch Zhouzhou.

Assured that Zhouzhou was deeply asleep, Shen Yi didn’t stay long and quietly said to the nanny, "Thank you for your trouble."

"It’s nothing, sir. You should get some rest soon," the nanny responded.

Shen Yi nodded and then turned to leave the children’s room, going back to his and Ye Wanwan’s bedroom across the hall.

Upon entering, Shen Yi faintly heard the sound of running water and instinctively looked toward the bathroom where Ye Wanwan was taking a shower.

Shen Yi took off his jacket and then sat down on the sofa. He leaned back slightly and pinched the bridge of his nose, appearing somewhat weary.

A few minutes later, the sound of water from the bathroom stopped, and Shen Yi opened his eyes to see Ye Wanwan coming out of the bathroom.

"You’re back," Ye Wanwan said as she approached him.

"Hmm," Shen Yi nodded.

Ye Wanwan came up to him and sniffed him like a little dog, then nodded her head in satisfaction and said, "It looks like you didn’t drink much."

"Ha!" Shen Yi tilted his head and couldn’t help but laugh out loud. Outsiders probably couldn’t imagine him being like this at home.
