Chapter 256: Chapter 256 Rescue
Watching Ye Wanwan with her eyes closed, her complexion extremely haggard, Shen Yi’s face paled.
For some reason, whenever he looked at Ye Wanwan, he had the eerie illusion that she, at this moment, completely overlapped with the person in the photo on the tombstone in his dreams.
"Wanwan!" Shen Yi’s voice was hoarse, filled with panic, and he trembled uncontrollably as he held Ye Wanwan in his arms.
Medical staff rushed over, intending to check on Ye Wanwan’s condition and wanting Shen Yi to let her go, but it was as if he couldn’t see them at all.
Ye Wanwan, hearing the familiar voice beside her, struggled to open her eyes, her breathing was very rapid, yet she managed a labored smile at Shen Yi.
Seeing Ye Wanwan open her eyes, Shen Yi’s heart seemed to settle down slightly.
"Wanwan," just looking at her exceptionally frail appearance, Shen Yi felt overwhelming distress, gently calling her name, as if afraid that speaking too loudly would startle her.
"I’m fine," said Ye Wanwan.
But she was truly weak, speaking in nothing more than a faint breath.
In the day and night since Ye Mingrui had taken her away, she hadn’t eaten or drunk anything, her mind had been in a state of high tension continuously, without a moment’s rest.
Shen Yi’s eyes reddened, and he carefully wiped the dust from Ye Wanwan’s face with his hand.
"I’m sorry!" Shen Yi said with a choked voice.
He was never by her side, never able to properly protect her!
The medical staff standing by didn’t want to disturb them, but this was not the time to witness their affection.
"Sir, please let her go, we need to check her condition!" a male doctor spoke up, entering into action.
Two other nurses quickly assisted, along with two firefighters, who helped move Ye Wanwan down from the safety air cushion.
Shen Yi was pushed to the side, looking on blankly, and it took him several seconds to snap back to reality before he hurriedly followed.
The moment Ye Wanwan was placed in the ambulance, she fainted, causing Shen Yi’s complexion to blanch, as if he was about to pass out as well.
The doctor, while examining her, said, "Family members needn’t worry too much. The patient’s neck wound is not too severe and should heal in a few days. However, the wrists have been bound too tightly for too long and have chafed, which might take some time to heal."
"Other than that, there are no other evident injuries. Based on the current situation, the patient falling into unconsciousness is likely due to prolonged mental tension without rest, and now that she’s relaxed, she’s passed out."
After a pause, the doctor added, "Another factor could be hunger due to not eating for a long time."
Shen Yi lifted his head and glared fiercely at the doctor. Wanwan’s complexion didn’t look good at all; how could the doctor speak in such a calm tone?
Feeling Shen Yi’s gaze, the doctor immediately chose to shut up, signaling the nurses to start an IV and treat the wounds.
Upon arrival at the hospital, the doctor arranged a full-body examination for Ye Wanwan, and only after confirming there were no issues with the test results did they move her back to the ward.
The VIP ward was spacious. Shen Yi had already cleaned Ye Wanwan up briefly, and now she lay on the hospital bed, quietly sleeping, with an IV needle inserted on the back of her hand.
