Chapter 17: Chapter 17 The Beginning of the Nightmare

Ye Wanwan spent a while in a daze before finally clambering out of bed and sluggishly making her way to the bathroom to wash up.

By the time she had washed up and come downstairs, Shen Yi had already left home for the company.

While eating breakfast, Ye Wanwan thought that since Shen Yi had returned, she should find time to discuss with him her plans to start working.

She hadn’t worked after graduation and then, because of an arranged marriage, she married Shen Yi just one year after finishing university. In their circle, after getting married, women typically became full-time housewives by default.

Even though she still didn’t know what she wanted to do, to avoid unnecessary trouble, she decided to notify him, no, she should "discuss" it with Shen Yi first before working.

Ye Wanwan idled away the entire day. Shen Yi didn’t come home for dinner in the evening. After having dinner by herself and taking a walk in the garden, she returned to the bedroom to prepare for a bath.

Ye Wanwan filled the bathtub with water and took a relaxing bath. After getting cleaned up, she sat at the dressing table to begin her skincare routine, fussing with various products.

Finally done, Ye Wanwan glanced at the wall clock in the bedroom. It was already past ten o’clock, yet Shen Yi still hadn’t returned, and she couldn’t help but frown.

A surge of anger uncontrollably welled up inside her.

And then she couldn’t stop wondering why Shen Yi hadn’t come home so late? Where was he? What was he doing? Was there another woman with him?

Those unfounded suspicions emerged one by one, swiftly consuming her rationality and pulling her deeper into a quagmire.

With a "plop," Ye Wanwan abruptly came back to her senses, looking down at the mobile phone that had fallen beside the bed. After staring blankly for two seconds, something in her mind suddenly snapped. Ye Wanwan’s eyes reddened as she began to breathe heavily.

It was a close call!

She had almost, just like in her previous life, tumbled into that terrifying abyss again.

Ye Wanwan breathed forcefully, trying to calm down quickly.

She kept telling herself over and over that everything had started anew, that the mistakes of her past life would not repeat themselves, would not happen again!

It took a very long time before Ye Wanwan bent down and picked up the phone.

Then she lay in bed, covered herself with the quilt, and didn’t think about waiting for Shen Yi any longer.

About working or not, she couldn’t care about that right now. The only thing to do was to make sure she didn’t fall back into that frightful state of mind.

This was the beginning of a nightmare!

Ye Wanwan closed her eyes, forcing herself to rest early.

Ye Wanwan fell asleep, but her sleep was restless. She dreamt of many things that had happened in her former life.

She watched herself fall into a state of self-doubt and then become a hysterical lunatic.

She grew increasingly distant from her best friend and her relationship with Shen Yi got worse and worse, even Zhouzhou began to shun her.

Even her parents, who loved her dearly, perished in a car accident because of her.

"No, don’t..." Ye Wanwan murmured uncontrollably in her sleep.

She struggled fiercely, trying to break free from all of it.

Then she sank into another dream, where she saw herself reborn, and everything starting all over again!

She already knew her mistakes, she knew what she had done wrong!

She would change, she shouldn’t have been so stubborn!

She just hoped the tragedies of her past life would not happen again.
