Chapter 147: Plan To Propose (1)
When Allynna and her family were on the second floor. Leon headed to the library on the first floor. It’s at the back of the castle with a view of the blue sea. He was bored waiting for Alynna in the living room while his father and the elders fished in the lake. Leon also bores because he is alone while his mother has gone for quite some time now. It seems she went to the tiny house behind the castle that she usually lived in when she visited this island.
His grandfather’s library is vast. On each side stood sturdy shelves of old wood towering upwards. All of it was filled with neat and clean books. Not a trace of dust could be seen there.
There is a gold-colored cupboard with glass doors just behind the large workbench. Leon glanced at the closet, his eyes fixed on the old roll of parchment. All the confidential information about the empire and how to cultivate rare and powerful abilities was on that parchment. And all of it was written by his grandfather.
The golden cupboard can only be opened by his grandfather. Only a few parchments and a diary that Grandpa allowed him to read. Makes him so curious. He tried to persuade his grandfather to give him a chance to read, but his grandfather vehemently refused.
Leon deeply sighs when he remembers the last time he tried his luck. It was about three months ago, and his grandfather still refused.
The most exciting thing in this library was a book about the advanced technology he had ever seen on this earth. These technology books have inspired him to make all the gadgets or programs his Royal Intelligent Division uses.
This library became his favorite place in this castle. He always spent his time here when he was visiting his grandfather. Almost all the books here have been read, thanks to his ability to read fast like a scanner. Just once at a glance, all the words appear in his mind. He can keep what he sees in his mind and recall the information when he needs it.
Leon walked around looking at the exciting book he wanted to read today. After he passed the row of books about creatures, he stopped his track right before the shelf near the large glass window. Above it, there is a sizable black inscription written "HEALER".
All the books on this shelf he had not read. He’s not interested in the Healer field. But because his girl has this ability, he wants to read about this topic if one day she asks him about Healer.
Leon looked intently at the high shelf 10 feet up for a few moments. His eyes landed on the book with a dark brown cover, with the title: 1001 What New Healers Must Do.
After taking the thick book, Leon headed to the reading area on the other side of the room. A brown leather sofa set by the window and a lazy chair beside it. He chose to sit on the lazy chair, facing out looking at the expanse of the garden that was so beautifully arranged. In the distance, he could see the beach, which he had visited with Allynna the first time he brought her here.
After a few minutes of reading the book, he heard the door opening sound that made him stop reading. When he looked back, he saw his mother gracefully walking towards him.
"Mama! Where have you been?" He stood facing his mother.
"You know where I have been," Said the Empress with a smile. Then she continues, "Son, come sit with me. There’s something I want to give you...." Clavelina said while heading to the sofa area. She sat looking at her son, who seemed so eager to return to his book.
Leon places the book on the round table next to the lazy chair without hesitation. And immediately joins his mother on the sofa. He sits opposite her while looking her in the eyes. He started to follow his father, not to read his mother’s mind. To respect her privacy.
"What’s the matter, Mama?" Leon sat leaning on the sofa casually.
"Have you proposed to Allynna?"
Leon frowned. Didn’t he already say he would marry her? Why does his mother ask again?
"I did. I asked Allynna to marry me when we met for the first time...Why?" Leon’s brow furrowed when he saw the ridiculous smile framing his mother’s face.
"When you asked her to marry you, did you give her a ring?"
Leon’s face turns stiff when he hears that. His eyes were full of questions looking at his mother. Till now, he hadn’t given Allynna a ring yet. Instead, he gave her a paper, an agreement letter so that she would not back down from her promise to marry him.
Instantly, Leon can feel his head slightly spinning when he imagines the girl sad. Until now, he has never given her a proper proposal.
Clavelina could guess that this very unromantic son must not have done it. She saw from the look in his eyes that her son looked confused. She laughed in her heart.
"My Son, you have to propose to her properly, in a romantic way. For instance, give her a ring in a romantic place... make your proposing event memorable so your girl can remember the event for a long time...."
His mother’s words succeeded in making him feel worried.
"M-Mama... what should I do, now? I don’t know how to do it! And what should I prepare?" Leon sat up straight from his seat, panicking. It never crossed his mind that he had to propose again. But, hearing his mother’s words, he immediately wanted to do it.
Clavelina was amazed to see her only son panicked. This was the first time she saw her son like this. She enjoyed this rare moment silently. After being satisfied, she took out a small black box from her space ring.
"My Son, you can propose to Allynna with this...." She handed the small box to her son.
Leon saw the small black box in his mother’s hand. He slowly took it, then lifted his head to see his mother again, feeling confused.
