Chapter 816: Chapter 573 Glass Cannon

After that great war, the warriors who claimed to be Undead left one after another.

Later, people praised them, describing them as both mad and harmonious. Even as heroes on the battlefield, they never forgot the distant land of their homeland; no matter how far away, they would return to farm.

Outside the War Throne, in a small village named Atli, the only thing that could be remembered was the special brew here. It was said that an Undead combined their unique brewing techniques with Magic to create delicious fruit wine. Some even said that someone had obtained the Divine Skin of the "God of Wine."

No one clearly knew whether such a god existed.

Everyone, however, knew very well who the true ruler was now.

In the afternoon, shops were closed.

The air grew unbearably hot; the sun hanging overhead felt like a furnace pressed against the face, making people dizzy and even distorting the air.

Because Lind had commanded the strong to join the army, initiating the recovery of Misty Rain City, the streets appeared empty.

Only a handful of Undead were involved in the battle against the Ring Knights, aided by powerful figures of the 5th and 6th rings, making victory less difficult. Yet, the cunning Lind Armand raised the price.

Not everyone could afford the extravagant cost to eliminate a Ring Knight; it was better to watch the excitement.

Some even began to refer to the Ring Knights as "luxury DLC," as ordinary Undead only had the opportunity to experience it. Only the truly wealthy or powerful had the chance to kill them and divide the profits.

At least it was much better than before, when huge investments yielded only a trickle of returns.

In the stifling heat, a petite figure wearing a huge wide-brimmed Wizard’s hat and carrying a delicate Magic Wand approached.

She arrived in front of the tavern and pushed the door open, the refreshing cool air inside enlivening her spirits.

She pushed the door and entered.

Inside, a few oddly-dressed Undead sat lazily. The tavern owner, hearing the sound, looked up but, seeing it was a Witch, lowered his head again, continuing to study the interaction between a yellowed rag in his hand and the dented wooden table.

"Beer."

A clear, crisp voice.

The few bored Undead perked up immediately.

As she removed her hat and placed it on the table, everyone could see it clearly.

The Bunny-toothed Witch.

"Coming right up." The tavern owner evidently didn’t recognize her.

There were too many powerful figures flying around the skies, each grander than the last. A small person like Mico looked just like a little ant, impossible to recognize.

"Wait, add an ice cream too!" An Undead in leather armor stood up, "It’s on me."

He pulled out a chair and sat down across from Mico.

"Is there anything I can help you with?"

A familiar but insincere inquiry.

This approach did not work on the War Throne; if NPCs truly wanted to issue a quest, they would put a golden exclamation mark above their head or use a scroll, but they would certainly not sit there dumbly waiting for Undead to approach by chance.

It was all linked to Lind’s requirements.

Mico lifted her eyelids and glanced at him, and after the beer was delivered, she took a sip from the mug.

"Ah!"

A satisfying sigh.

Seeing that they couldn’t gain anything from her, the Undead withdrew voluntarily.

No one would provoke an NPC who clearly wouldn’t offer any quests and might also attract a formidable boss. After that great war, Lind had become an unchallengeable figure.

An absolute figure who should not be on the hit list.

Thus, the Bunny-toothed Witch, who was always by Lind’s side, also acquired the same terrifying deterrent power.

After finishing her beer and waiting until the sun was less scorching, she set off again. Outside, a few figures started appearing sporadically.

At night, while camping in the wild, some Undead who were temporarily grilling some meat for respite ran into the Bunny-toothed Witch.

The crackling wood, the small figure poking a stick with mushrooms over the campfire, immediately caught the Undead’s attention.

"Is there anything I can help you with?" The same inquiry method.

The Bunny-toothed Witch, however, was entirely focused on the mushrooms she was roasting.

The Undead whispered among themselves while the Bunny-toothed Witch, after finishing her mushrooms, packed up and left, seemingly heading for a distant journey.

...

"Something doesn’t feel right, Ti Gang, what do you think?"

Each NPC’s behavior was worth analyzing.

A group of Undead, not strong enough to conquer the Ring Knights but with top-notch debating skills, chatted online.

As a recognized "expert," O*O* felt compelled to respond when questions were directed at him.

Even if he had to fabricate, it had to be plausible; never underestimate his determination to carve out his share of the audience. Once, a bunch of content creators generated several episodes from less than a minute’s worth of teaser.

Frame-by-frame analysis, expanding thoughts, and then elaborating a bit further.

Not starting from the topic of postpartum care for sows already showed his restraint.

"I think it’s a hidden quest." O*O* said with conviction.

If no one could trigger it, it meant the conditions were not met. If someone could activate the quest, it proved his guess correct, and he would remain undefeated. In case the Bunny-toothed Witch stopped wandering, he could explain it as a time-limited hidden quest.

"Those who encountered her probably didn’t have enough affinity, or didn’t meet certain conditions, such as attributes."

The Undead brainstormed.

Mico appeared again on a small mountain, which was very hard to find, without even coordinates on the map.

On the low hill was a dilapidated wooden house and a stone table beside it. Mico was there, playing a game of stacking stones.
