Chapter 744: Chapter 538: Heart of Stone

"Did we just unlock a new mini-game?"

Long live Sister Li was pouring a Magic Potion into her mouth, yet still called out to Loves White Silk.

"Give me a heal!"

Loves White Silk shouted, "Open up, it’s coming!"

"Damn!"

Long live Sister Li cursed but obediently opened her mouth.

A Magic Ball flew into her mouth, rapidly restoring her Magic Power. Feeling the strength return to her body and able to cast more Skills, Long live Sister Li suppressed the urge to complain about her friend.

"Nice shot!"

You can’t be stingy with thumbs ups, what if this damn thing stops healing me? The last thing you want on the battlefield is to offend the healer.

Ahead, the Colorful Stone Bird spread its vast wings and dove once again.

The prepared Undead unleashed all their tricks, bombarding it, some Magic insufficiently powerful to withstand the gale force directly in front, getting redirected to the side by the wings of colorful stones, while some stronger attacks solidly struck the Stone Bird.

They had been at a standoff with this creature for a while. Red name bosses that could flee were tricky to handle. If outmatched, they could escape, heal to full health, and then come back, not to mention launch sneak attacks.

Long live Sister Li pulled out a small leather shield from behind and lifted it above her head, a pearl-like translucent bubble magically appeared encompassing her.

Other Undead on the same front reacted almost simultaneously, taking out various items to cast protections on themselves.

There were stone walls, some relied on the shields in their hands for defense, and others waved their Two-handed Swords, attempting to intercept actively.

What they had to face was—the stones scattering from the body of the Colorful Stone Bird after being bombed.

Its left wing bore a huge wound, and the stones fell freely aiming precisely at the position of the Undead.

However, shortly after dropping, the stones exploded into a sky full of stone rain, with increased falling speed, unclear whether the Undead had successfully shot them down or the Stone Bird did it deliberately.

Stone rain, trailing flames, thunderously fell, striking the ground at the forefront and stirring up a cloud of dust.

It swiftly approached the position of the Undead like a sweeping barrage.

In the next moment, the dust cloud completely enveloped the figures of the Undead; only the sound of relentless impacts and shattering could be heard.

Suddenly, a gust of wind blew the dust away, revealing the state of the Undead camp. The accident had caused minimal damage, with deaths reduced to fewer than 10 individuals, except for a few unlucky ones injured by the falling debris.

Long-time strife had made the Undead familiar with the enemy’s combat style.

"Carry on!"

The Undead continued their attack, aiming to completely ground the severely damaged winged monster, ideally breaking its wings.

However, their strength was insufficient; once it took to the sky, they essentially handed victory to the bird.

"It’s low health, almost there!"

"Damn! It’s running away again!"

Watching the Colorful Stone Bird fly away immediately after its health reached a critical level, the Undead sat on the ground clawing their hair.

"I feel like we’re not the ones flying a kite; we’re the ones being kited," Long live Sister Li complained.

"No telling how much longer we’ll be stuck here," Loves White Silk nodded in agreement.

It’s too hard to kill, and we lack control.

If only an NPC could step in to help trap the bird, they might stand a chance to win.

The sunk cost is too high, and they’re unwilling to give up and leave, so they can only continue to hold out.

"Did you see?" Long live Sister Li leaned toward her buddy, "The new mini-game."

"A racing game?"

"Right."

"Why are they all on Enstad Continent?"

"How should I know, but my guess is it’s because the gods of the three Newbie Village Continents are different, possibly training no data sharing."

In the real world, this would lead to many interpretations, like Lind lacking strength to deal with the situation, but here in the game, explanations are easier to come by—it’s just game design.

"After we get rid of this boss, let’s give it a try," Long live Sister Li said, watching others already trying the racing game, envy written all over her face; she too wanted to experience more exciting content.

Loves White Silk complained, "Sounds like saying we’ll get married after the war ends."

"Damn, looks like some NPCs are coming."

The distant sky was obscured by a dense mass of crows, resembling a rolling black cloud swooping in.

Upon closer inspection, familiar figures were spotted beside the black cloud—Bat Wing Blood Wart Demons. This subgroup of Blood Wart Demons, deemed the "ultimate mounts," were pure Undead.

"It looks like the Blood Clan!"

"Finally, it’s time for the plot!"

They sighed in relief, watching the black cloud head towards the direction where the Colorful Stone giant bird had departed, signaling that a battle was imminent.

"Chase after them!"

When the Undead caught up, they stopped at the edge of Shilu Continent, surrounded by mountains and towering cliffs dotted with towering trees. As they approached, they felt like people from a tiny nation entering a land of Giants, where they had to look up at everything.

The Colorful Stone giant bird, previously surrounded but unkillable, spread its wings atop a spire-like peak, seemingly making the mountain its nest.

The approach of the Blood Clan’s crow flock triggered its agitated response.

The bird spread its wings and roared at the crows, puffing up similar to a real bird, its stony feathers standing on end, its wings spread to make itself look twice its size, issuing a sharp, piercing scream.

The sunlight filtered through the colorful stones, scattering into a splendidly dazzling rainbow that wrapped around the stone bird like a planetary belt, breathtakingly beautiful.

The flying flock of crows dispersed, forming the outermost ring around the bird while cawing.

A slash of blood light sliced diagonally across the bird’s neck.

With a "bang" from the collision and explosion with the blood light, the bird’s neck turned into a raincloud filled with water, raining down stones once more.

"We didn’t even make a move, and we got caught in the crossfire?" Loves White Silk setups up a defensive device while making a snide comment.

The big bird staggered from the hit, then flapped its wings to begin a definitive aerial battle.

Blood light crisscrossed towards the bird; the bird plowed through the impacts, not surprisingly getting hit and triggered two more stone rains.

A figure in a red dress appeared in the air, a glowing Spirit Sword stuck in her neck.

"Looks like it’s Melulan?"

"It’s definitely Melulan!"

Melulan, wielding a Blood Whip, clashed with the Colorful Stone giant bird, swinging blood light that dyed the sky red. Despite being petite, she matched the bird in strength, with better mobility, fearlessly engaging in a kite-pulling confrontation.

Layers of colorful stone were chipped away, reducing the bird’s size significantly.

In the end, only a palm-sized stone remained.

"We won!"

"Seems like we didn’t."

The Undead focused on the stone, clearly seeing that the bird’s health bar wasn’t empty and still dripping with a few drops of blood.

Melulan was very satisfied with the outcome of her first battle as a Ring Knight, having advanced to a level where she could contend with Deities.

Looking at the colorful stone in her hand.

It was like a beating heart, still alive.

Periodically, the stone would "thud," pulse, and secretly grow—perhaps, in no time, this stone could regrow into the giant bird or something else.

There would be a reward, but she didn’t need to command it; Melulan turned and left.

She needed more "Spirit Swords" to enhance her strength, the number of which could signify her power level, and she wanted even more.

On her way back, the colorful stone kept pulsing and quietly growing; Melulan didn’t pay much heed, feeling her grip on this "heart" strengthened.

But when she looked at her palm, she found the stone inexplicably fused with it, inseparably integrated as if naturally grown together.

Raising the index finger of her left hand, a sharp Blood Sword formed and rapidly sliced across the colorful stone, which was tough and required several hits before she could break it off. When she succeeded, she discovered a layer of colorful stone skin on her right palm.

"Assimilated?"

Without hesitation, she cut off her own right hand; rapid regeneration allowed her hand to swiftly regrow, but the stone skin accelerated its growth without external pressure.

Soon, her palm turned into a stone piece, pulsing like a heart.

As for the large piece of colorful stone she knocked off, it no longer had a pulse.

A clever transfer.

Looking at the revived severed hand, Melulan’s lips curled into a smile.

Lind liked all sorts of strange things.
