Chapter 649: Chapter 491: Five Treasures

Lind felt as if he had suddenly conceived a brand new idea, a strong impulse compelling him to stay with the girl in front of him forever.

His talent was precisely his indecisiveness.

The strange passion that grew attempted to control Lind’s thinking and heart, and it succeeded. Yet, being able to perfectly distract himself, he could observe his own actions as if he were a bystander.

"This sounds like a fairy tale," Lind analyzed halfheartedly, "the Traveler saves the persecuted heroine and then they live happily ever after. Hmm, now there are four, how does this story of bigamy proceed?"

He did nothing.

Watching the village residents excitedly cheer around the group of five, holding hands as they danced.

Seeing their excitement as they prepared for a bonfire party, celebrating that Lind would stay in the village forever.

Until the red-haired girl spoke up, "My dear, I..."

The other three did the same.

Four hands were extended toward Lind.

The five of them held hands, forming a circle, sitting on the grass, together enjoying the gentle air of nature.

Lind watched joyfully; for the moment, he had lost control of his body. That slight restraint was negligible, but due to Lind’s previous benevolent actions, the restraint had already started cracking.

He did nothing, simply waiting.

Dancing, all five of them together.

Everyone’s expressions were strange.

They continued to sing and clap, yet their features twisted in distortion, struggling to break free.

Lind noticed the male Dancer’s veins popping on his face, his pale skin slowly turning red, his nostrils enlarging with heavy breathing. Sadly, the man did not burst, and after several struggles with his expressions, he calmed down again.

"You’re not even concerned about being cuckolded? Not to stir up trouble, but if it were me, I’d definitely start throwing punches."

Then it would be time for all five to sleep.

Lind stood at a crossroad, each of the four girls pulling him in different directions.

And so they remained deadlocked.

Frozen!

Who knows how long it lasted.

The village breeze seemed to stop, a squirrel jumped down from a branch, leaving behind a kitchen-stolen mushroom, and fireflies along with the stars hid in the night.

Crack, it sounded like the shattering of a mirror.

Lind felt his body regain control, the fragile bindings shattered.

"Ah!"

All four girls exclaimed simultaneously.

Not just them, the whole village erupted in cries.

Everyone came out of their houses and gathered around upon seeing Lind and the others.

"My dear!" The previous Dancer embraced one of the female Dancers, both teary-eyed.

"Mr. Candy with golden hair," said the red-haired girl with a complex expression.

She was supposed to "live happily ever after" with Lind, but this man’s bizarre maneuver prevented her fairy tale from continuing.

"Just call me Traveler," Lind countered, rejecting the odd-sounding title. "Can anyone explain what you’ve been through?"

"I am a Mercenary," the red-haired girl spoke first, "from the Royal City in Moonlight Kingdom, tasked by the great King to find ’Magic Boots.’ While passing through here, I suddenly lost consciousness and naturally became a part of the village."

The others had similar stories. The village’s initial "natives" consisted only of a few locals; the rest were travelers who happened to pass by and were accidentally left behind, becoming part of the village.

Like the Dancers, they belonged to a Lord that taught dancing to his children. After saving enough money, they had planned to return to their hometown to start anew but ended up staying here instead.

"Has anyone ever left this village?"

Lind didn’t think he was the first person in years to enter the village.

"My husband," spoke the woman in a patchwork skirt who had hosted him earlier. "He joined a team to combat Demon Beasts, following a Warrior who claimed he was going to save a Princess. My husband joined without hesitation... our Moonlight Kingdom has no Princess."

Indeed, even if there was a princess, it would only be the former Princess Fulin Mueen, who was currently imprisoned in the dungeons of Rand Kingdom as a captive.

According to what Fulin Mueen said, after receiving one of the old king’s treasures, she was no longer a princess but a General of the army, and then she led her troops out of the country to beg for food.

"It seems the story is quite complex."

Lind looked at the few anxious people; the eeriness here had already plunged them into depths of fear, afraid of accidentally becoming unable to escape, perhaps becoming supporting characters in some story.

"You’re better off staying here."

There was a way out, of course, Lind had one. However, among them, there wasn’t a single Transcendent. Staying here only posed the risk of becoming temporary actors. Beyond the Moonlight Kingdom, the outside world was a death trap for normal people.

Whether they would heed his advice was irrelevant.

After all, he once wiped out two level six Deities and the highly formidable Black Knight of Magic Land with over thirty million dollars. He cared greatly for his own people, but strangers didn’t matter.

Explaining was a waste of time.

"Which direction is the Royal City?" Lind asked.

The tavern keeper replied, "Follow that road straight ahead, cross a river, keep going until you pass a mountain and you’ll see Hunter Castle; from there, you can find someone to guide you."

Lind nodded and turned to leave.

He hadn’t gotten far when running footsteps approached from behind. "Please wait!"
