Chapter 604: Chapter 469 Boys and Girls Charge Forward - Magic Version
Black Knight’s underground tomb, located within the boundaries of the Kingdom of Trees, was built upon the land where Treants once rooted their existence. However, following that war, the Kingdom of Trees had become a kingdom in name only, and now only a massive structure remained, constructed through the concerted effort of one hundred thousand Undead.
The city walls stretched upward, blocking out the sun and sky. It was said that no one knew just how deep they dug into the earth, a complex network of roots and tunnels.
Such a massive structure could even accommodate nearly a million people. It was like an oversized city. If it weren’t for the fact that all the construction workers were level 30 Undead, who never tired and moved as nimbly as the wind, each worth more than a hundred ordinary people, it would have been impossible to build such a towering edifice in such a short period.
A few gnarled paths between the trees fell under the cast of towering shadows.
A head peeked out from the shadows, belonging to someone clad in the native White Shell Armor from the Salt Alkali Plain, its helmet gleaming.
Behind that figure, a group of similarly dressed individuals gathered, their appearances extreme—either extremely ugly or exceedingly beautiful, with no one of average looks to be seen.
"They’ve got numbers and strength, if we just barge in, wouldn’t we be left with a dead end?"
"Haven’t you guys read the forum announcement?"
"What announcement?"
Everyone immediately opened the official website, but with the ever-increasing number of Undead, and constant new posts and comments, they had no choice but to search by region. Eventually, they found a thread under Enstad Continent - Kingdom of Trees - Black Knight’s underground tomb.
The top thread caught their eye, brimming with heat.
["Take a look at my Underground City, we’re not that strong. The theme is all-female enemies, anyone up for defeating it?"]
They clicked on the thread, and a video was the first thing to pop up.
They clicked play.
At the start of the video, a female undead with pink paint smeared on either cheek approached the camera. She stepped back, waving her hands, "Hello, everyone, I’m the Lord of F-12-33-09 Underground City, Wu Miao. The link to my live stream is right below the video; you can click to jump there. If you want to see how I defend my Underground City, come and watch. I’ll be giving away some little perks from time to time."
"Next, let me introduce my Underground City to you. Because I’m quite poor, haha, there’s not much in terms of decorations and style. Let me whisper a complaint—rent for an Underground City here isn’t cheap at all. The bigger the space, the more expensive it gets, and they even charge for expansions."
"Our defense isn’t very strong, but let me introduce our members to you. This is Chun Chun official, guarding the front door; she’s also a streamer, haha, so you can give her a follow too."
The loli-type Undead introduced waved her hands.
"And then, when you enter the middle door..."
"In the end, if you defeat me, you can get the treasure chest. It contains spoils of war. Every round starts with the need for spoils, but since Black Knight set the minimum value, when you open our treasure chest, there won’t be any riches inside. However, you can use the tokens inside to exchange for treasure rewards at the relevant counter. And please, almighty players, don’t bully us—we’re just a bunch of noobs, but we still welcome you all to come and have fun, haha~"
"Remember our Underground City room number, and our live stream room too. Look forward to your visit, make sure to come! (^U^)ノ~YO"
The video was short, not even a minute long, and there were already many comments below.
"Holy moly, an Underground City built by a team of internet beauty streamers? Even if they have nothing inside, I’d still visit once, isn’t this like a meet-and-greet with Chun Chun?"
"The Underground City’s rating is F, the rewards are F tier, and they’ve set the entrance fee even higher than a B-level; are they slicing their fans like leeks? Just wait and see—people will spend money on tickets and then hesitate to kill once inside, ending up killing themselves and losing troops in defeat, then logging off, taking off their helmets, and sadly munching on steamed buns and pickles while weeping with self-pity."
"At least throw some decorations in there. What are you selling, the dancing sections of the streamers? Isn’t it better to spend 500 bucks on hotpot with friends and have a good time?"
"Forget it, rich folks have already lined up. Damn, it’s so hyped, people are even willing to pay to jump the queue."
"Some guy just wiped them all out; he spent 500 on an entrance ticket, then came out with only 50 bucks worth of junk. A major loss is one thing but getting cyberbullied afterwards, seriously, I just can’t even. Aren’t Underground Cities supposed to get raided? That’s what PvP is about. Getting killed is normal, the obsessed are truly frightening."
The Undead hadn’t actually found any useful information from the video and post, so they scrolled down further. The second most popular post was even more intriguing.
["An MC player crafted Underground City, treasure chest reward upon clearing is 10 times the ticket price!"]
I clicked on the video.
This is an enormous underground city with mechanisms but no enemies, and the path is winding and meandering.
As long as you’re able to run all the way to the end, you can get a reward. If you fall off halfway, it’s considered a failure. And because this is Magic World, the mechanisms are much more cunning and brutal than the summer obstacle courses on TV, but they are also more entertaining to watch.
In the video, a scantily clad female undead appeared, did a brief show of her scars, and then entered the game. She stumbled a bit, ran a certain distance, and was directly pierced by a trap.
Luckily, the video had the non-gory version enabled from the start, so everyone found it quite hilarious.
The comments here were even more joyful than the hottest threads. There was hardly any negativity, everyone was tagging their friends, getting them to come and challenge it.
"Boys and girls, charge forward in the Magic edition!"
"This is fun, haha."
"I want to sign up too."
"I’m so jealous. When will the Black Knight come to rule over us?"
"The streamers have new content for their streams."
"I’m going offline to eat and watch this."
Scrolling further down, I finally saw a very serious underground city tower defense.
[Tower Defense Underground City, multiple rooms, multiple traps, multiple maps, generous rewards. Everyone is welcome to challenge!]
Different from the two previous highly popular underground cities, this one is purely PvP tower defense. You have to survive waves of challenges, defeating enemies until you finally get the treasure chest.
"Bro, here we go suffering again."
"These guys got a set of awesome equipment from the Black Knight, their stats are off the charts, we can’t compete."
"Pure PvP is tough, but I gotta say, these pros have some slick moves, often killing challengers instantly without a scratch. They’re as oppressive as a boss fight."
Browsing down, all sorts of underground city themes emerged.
Some people focused on creating funny casual content, others on difficult PvP, and yet others on grinding maps and monsters, etc. Some were dedicated to recreating themes.
For instance, recreating competitive games like DOTA, LOL, and there were those dedicated to Diablo, Border’s Gate, etc.
Some people really enjoyed recreations, finding joy in creating theme parks, offering low prices, no rewards, but able to host a large number of tourists to come and play; like recreating parts of Magic World-themed settings such as Harry Potter’s student bedrooms, Hermione the Wizard’s headmaster’s office, Hobbit holes from Magic Ring, etc.
Who would have thought that Black Knight’s underground tomb could extend into countless "mini-games"?
"How about it, now you know, right?" asked the bald guy in the White Shell Armor.
"Fuck, this is too awesome. With version 2.0, I feel like I don’t have to do anything, just exploring these underground cities would be enough. Couldn’t they have done this with version 1.0?"
"It’s indeed great to play other people’s underground cities, so why are they in such a rush to make their own?"
"Obviously because of the higher earnings. And the most popular, highest-grossing underground cities will likely receive a reward from the Black Knight."
"A reward from the Black Knight?"
"Yeah, I heard the Black Knight takes a cut from the ticket sales."
