The Boss King actually disguised himself as a novice village chief?! -
Chapter 600 - 465: Is the Black Knight Lind?
Chapter 600: Chapter 465: Is the Black Knight Lind?
Over on the Enstad Continent, the Kingdom of Trees became the subject of a CG featurette after being wiped out by the mysteriously appearing Black Knight, and this was promoted throughout the entire game.
Regarding the appearance of the Black Knight, as well as the new gameplay updates, there was much speculation and discussion.
After the local Undead of the Kingdom of Trees came forward to share their firsthand accounts, it became pretty clear that this version was not just about the usual Boss fights; it might primarily involve conflicts between the Undead themselves.
Choose to join the Abyss, or choose to fight against it.
Actually, the attitude of the Undead towards the Abyss was no longer as repulsive as before. This shift in attitude was evident among the 3000 elite Undead who had ventured to Magic Land, who, with their broad exposure and experience, had long realized that Abyssal Power was not so rare in Magic Land, and that many NPCs also possessed the power of the Abyss.
Since it was just a form of power, the Abyss naturally transitioned from an unforgivable evil force to a factional power that one could actively join.
The Black Knight, with his power to effortlessly destroy an entire nation and his overwhelming presence that left no room for resistance, perfectly met the Undead’s expectations for a version Boss. Whether they wanted to kill him or join him, they all recognized him.
Now that’s what you call a Boss. Although the previous Bosses looked cool, they always seemed a bit off. Now, in comparison, it’s clear that what they lacked were accomplishments—how dare you call yourself a Boss without having annihilated cities and nations?
But soon some people noticed a little problem—with the story taking place on the Enstad Continent, what about the Serylin and Shilu Continents?
"We want to join the Abyss but have no way to do so."
"Locally, the Abyss is completely wiped out, what do we do?"
"Asked around, the locals know nothing about the Abyss, everyone has entered a state of lying flat."
"Damn it, don’t call it the Black Knight unrest for the 2.0 update, call it Enstad’s internal test."
"Apart from it being more than a year, almost nothing has changed here, no updates at all."
Almost all of the Undead had an absurd feeling that this 2.0 version update was a bit hasty—as if it was blindly initiated without proper preparation, with a nonsensical "Black Knight unrest" without any other information, and the Black Knight only appeared on one continent.
This had happened before with Lind Armand, but there were differences. In the 1.0 version, nearly all Undead could participate in the main storyline, unlike now, where everyone could only watch from the sidelines.
"I think we still need to wait. Although it’s called the Black Knight unrest, based on our past gaming experience, it’s normal for a game version to take one or two years. Maybe the Black Knight is just making an appearance at the start of the version, and various changes will appear everywhere later on."
This kind of speculation was the most widely accepted view.
After all, the game is supposed to serve them, so the current complaints are just everyone’s dissatisfaction that the excitement of a nation being destroyed didn’t fall on their heads.
Just look at the expressions of those from the Kingdom of Trees to know how thrilled they are, to be directly included.
Now, the Undead of the Kingdom of Trees are indeed feeling great.
With a powerful backer to cling to, they have at least found the answer for version 2.0. As long as they stick with the Black Knight and follow him through thick and thin, they would surpass all other Undead and lead the way.
The final battle between the Black Knight and the Druid Queen further highlighted his overwhelming strength—it was a one-sided instant kill.
His Longsword pinned the Druid Queen to the ground, the blade piercing through her chest, staining her clothes with blood.
"Hehehe," the Druid Queen coughed up blood, "Evil will never conquer righteousness, the light of the Goddess of Life will shine forever... over me..."
Lind stepped on the her stomach and pulled out the sword.
He couldn’t be bothered to discuss profound principles with her, nor did he think she was worthy of hearing them.
In war, there’s no right or wrong, only differing perspectives, and for Lind, killing the Druid Queen was absolutely the correct stance. He had killed many without rhyme or reason; she was just one more.
"Goddess of Life? Never heard of her."
The mainstream believes in the Three Gods, the non-mainstream believes in the Abyss, various Dominuses, but he had never heard of the Goddess of Life; she must be some Evil God, but he had seen plenty of those and even killed some. He didn’t care at all.
He was only afraid that they wouldn’t come to him; he believed that the allure of a world Boss was still strong for the Undead.
The Black Knight turned to the Undead who were standing ready, waiting for orders, and said, "I am the Black Knight. Since you choose to pledge allegiance to me, then let us take the Kingdom of Trees as our foundation, build an Abyssal defense line, use this place as a base to defend against invaders."
He didn’t want to use Abyssal Power to create corrupt things, so he had to let the Undead pay out of their own pocket and work hard. But many things were already in place, so it wasn’t a big problem.
Building an Abyssal defense line, amassing all the Undead of the Kingdom of Trees, turning them into the force of the Black Knight, and from there, radiating outward.
If all goes well, Lind, under the guise of the Black Knight, could easily gather most of the Undead under his command, taking advantage of the Undead’s natural inclination to flock to the main storyline.
However, Lind was well aware that since he had been labeled the "Boss of version 2.0," the game’s administrators would not sit back and allow him to develop unchecked. The best way to handle this was to guide the Undead to attack him.
Leading an attack would be difficult; after all, Lind didn’t harbor any hostility towards the Undead, managing his emotions not to turn red-named and even providing an excuse for the Undead to join him, effectively transforming from a Boss to an optional faction.
This was his first overt battle with the administration, and it was a good opportunity to see to what extent they could influence him. He figured they could only have a broad impact, not a fine-tuned one—if they could influence the details, Lind would have had no chance to make these moves. Just issue a few more missions to hunt Lind, and his fate would be sealed.
"Lord Black Knight, just you wait, we will make sure the job is done beautifully. Not to brag, but my family’s been doing plasterwork for three generations! If my dad knew that after a day of plastering, I’d still be doing it in the game, he’d be so moved."
Someone nearby said, "Damn, doesn’t that mean you’re advancing while others play? You’ve hit the jackpot! I think you should give the Black Knight a fee as a thank-you for this opportunity."
"You’re right, don’t just stand there, thank ’Black Knight’ for granting you this opportunity."
Lind looked at the bunch of Undead babbling nonsense. Although it was noisy, he didn’t find it irritating. Indeed, being the only transmigrator was too lonely. He was someone who really enjoyed sharing, so he said, "Go and let more Undead join the ’Black Knight Army.’ The expansion of our corps population will bring more and stronger power."
On this continent, so many adorable Undead had never been harvested; now that he had arrived, he definitely wouldn’t let them go to waste.
Then he carried his Longsword to a huge tree, his wrist shook slightly, and he carved out a wooden plank and nailed it to the ground.
The Undead stared at each other, not understanding what the Black Knight was doing. However, at this moment, a part of the Undead watching the live stream started to spam the chat.
"Loud, is that you?"
"Stop pretending, take off your helmet and let me see."
"Damn, what exactly happened during this year, Loud? How did you end up serving the ’Abyss’?"
Likes to stick wooden planks and write various tasks on them, only one person in the entire game would do this—Lind Armand.
Lind’s almost "open card" move immediately sent the Undead of Xilu Continent into a frenzy.
A mysterious Black Knight might not have been a big deal, but add the high-popularity character Lind Armand, and it was a different story. There would always be people wanting to figure out how he had changed and what kind of hardships he had gone through.
"Just liking to stick up wooden signs doesn’t mean it’s Lind, right? Isn’t Lind in ’Magic Land’?"
"Yeah, maybe it’s a character the officials designed. Lind, bright and righteous ’Golden Lion,’ then Black Knight, dark and sly, complete opposites, not the same person."
"Could they possibly have some sort of destined battle?"
"Why do I feel like you guys are overthinking it? What if some NPCs are just set to like sticking up wooden planks for announcements? Not to mention, this way of issuing tasks doesn’t seem as jarring."
"Yeah, just that alone can’t be considered evidence, right?"
"Calling Magic Land, calling Magic Land, all the bosses over there, has Lind showed up yet?"
At the same time,
Undead-led Newbie Village.
Over two thousand Undead logged on punctually, while the rest could not log in right away due to time constraints.
"No difference from when we left, but it just feels a bit deserted."
"Damn, you sang so freaking badly last night, and hogged the mic without letting go."
"Moon Slash Blade, good brother, let me touch it."
The scene was boisterously lively, with most people still immersed in the atmosphere of yesterday’s offline meetup, growing even closer after playing together in the game and meeting up offline.
It wasn’t until someone said, "Where’s my cat, how come my cat is gone?"
Then everyone realized, the cats with the crazy good attributes that they had been grinding for before logging off were gone!
"Undead."
’Great Beast High Priest’ Soralis Ancient Echo approached them on her own, her arrival attracting the attention of the Undead. Everyone immediately looked her way.
"Lord Lind has left instructions, follow me, and claim back your ’Beast Power’."
After she finished speaking, she turned around, and the Undead promptly followed her.
It was also at this time, those Undead located in Magic Land also saw the live-stream of the Black Knight disturbance, feeling amazed by the power of the Black Knight. To be doing all this, his strength was probably comparable to the ’Beast King’ by now!
So when they saw people saying that the Black Knight was Lind, they simply didn’t believe it. Lind might be a growable NPC, but it wasn’t possible for him to have increased his power so much in such a short time; it didn’t make any ’magic’ sense.
"Miss Soralis, what year is it now?" asked someone with a keen sense of detail.
Soralis replied, "It is now the 6th year after the ’Ring of Magic’ shattered."
Turned out that more than a year had passed, and they could see the changes in the fashion style of the beast lady’s clothing and her hair trim, all different from before.
"Is Lord Lind not here?"
The beast lady replied, "He is busy with more important matters and isn’t here."
"Could it really be that the Black Knight is Loud?"
"It’s bullshit. There’s no resemblance at all."
"Why bother with all that? Just go get your cats!"
Blessings bestowed, the cats returned.
