Chapter 583: Chapter 456 Moving Spring Water_3

For this reason, one could always see something trying to escape from within Lind’s cloak, while others fought to prevent it, entangling and scrapping with each other—a cloak that seemed alive with purgatory.

Lind said, "Let’s go have a look."

...

Ska gazed at the Mysterious Knight ahead, who donned precision Magic Armor with rotating gears and a cloak that sporadically burst forth with ghostly arms.

He had little black on him, yet for some reason, when Ska saw him, his first thought was that this had to be the legendary Black Knight.

Perhaps "black" resonated more with mystery, and the actual color mattered less.

"Do you seek reinforcements?" Lind inquired.

"Our homeland is facing a Beast Tide," Ska nodded, "Every year, giant beasts surge out from the Waste Stone Mountains. The people of our homeland organize a defense army in response, but this year something happened... We’re short on hands."

Lind was about to ask more, but to his surprise, Ska pulled out two Magic Ring Shards enshrouded in dark vapors. They weren’t very large; together, they were less than a quarter the size of a little fingernail, almost just bits of dust.

Yet, the power they held was not to be doubted; Lind had a piece himself, and he could feel their potency very clearly.

Ska, either intentionally or not, though unable to discern Lind’s expression, still said, "These were found on the giant beasts that surged from the Waste Stone Mountains."

"My lord?" White Wolf Knight William turned to look at Lind. He cared little for Magic Ring Shards but was interested in battling a giant beast.

"Where is this place?" Lind might not be moved for a couple of shards, but the situation would be different if there was a bunch of them.

"The Waste Stone Mountains, to the southeast of the Land of Beasts," Ska promptly spoke, "It would take roughly two months to reach."

Previously, Ska had never been to the Land of Beasts; he had only heard of it and had switched through several mounts before finally arriving here on a Scorpion Flea.

A two-month journey—this was the Magic Land, not Rand Kingdom. The speed of travel couldn’t even begin to compare.

For a strong individual of the Magic Land, two months could mean traversing five or six kingdoms.

The distance was already quite significant.

"To the southeast, that’s going in the opposite direction of Stone Beast Fort," Lind turned back for a brief glance.

His interest in Stone Beast Fort was limited, and with a new objective, there was no harm in changing direction. If necessary, he could always return. Even if the Undead logged in tomorrow, Stone Beast Fort could still be a target for exploration, with no time wasted.

"Let’s go," Lind stretched out his hand and took the two Magic Ring Shards as an advance payment.

The group set off—Lind, William, Tione, joined by Ska, Nur, and his followers—magnificently embarking on their quest.

"Lord, the distance is vast; we should prepare more water and food, and then..." Ska was about to continue when he saw Lind pressing his hands to the ground.

The earth began to tremble.

Distant dunes split in two amid a "rumbling" noise, and a giant, ferocious Sand Worm — as thick as a city wall — surfaced, bringing waves of sand our way.

Ska gaped.

"Two months is too long," Lind watched the Subterranean Tunnel Worm, which he had been rearing for some time, because the creature’s energy demands were too great for him to afford three meals a day.

Lacking enough nourishment and not responding to other Legendary Mages’ summons, nor accepting other lucrative offers, the Tunnel Worm had hardly grown in size, still only large enough to fit three to five thousand people within its belly.

As the huge Sand Worm rushed toward him, Lind leaped up. Hundreds of ghostly hands sprouted from his [Ghost Cloak], forming wings that carried him aloft.

The others also jumped up, weaker ones needing several attempts to clamber aboard.

Landing, they felt as if they were standing on an earthquake fault, assaulted by the winds and sand, each grain hitting like small iron pellets.

Lind continued to press his hands on the Sand Worm below to communicate, instructing it to travel above ground instead of burrowing, serving as a means of transport. If it went underground, by the time they opened their eyes, they could be on a new continent.

Traveling just above the surface slowed down the Tunnel Worm significantly, but it was still faster than traveling on foot or riding Scorpion Fleas.

Ska could hardly believe it, gracelessly lying on the back of the Sand Worm, but upon realizing the wind was the only issue and that the back of the Sand Worm was as wide and smooth as a grand road, he relaxed.

In the blink of an eye, they had covered what would have been days’ worth of travel by Scorpion Flea.

However, the journey was rough. The commotion of the Sand Worm didn’t go unnoticed, and along the way, many powerful beings took note of them. Yet because they feared a strong individual might be among the travelers, no one dared to attack. Instead, they quietly watched as Lind brazenly invaded their territories and left unscathed.

After this trip, the audacious Black Knight successfully made an impression in the eyes of various Beast Kings and Lords.

Lind, however, was unconcerned. Upon discovering that most Beast Kings were blusterous yet timorous, he couldn’t be bothered to pretend respect. Furthermore, these Beast Kings feared having their Echo taken back by the Beastmaster and dared not risk their lives.

Aside from Beast King-level individuals, Lind paid no attention to the rest, which is why they traveled unimpeded.

After several days, they had left the Land of Beasts and arrived at the southern part of the Magic Land. The surroundings transformed from desert wasteland to lush green grass and towering trees, like an enlarged primeval forest.

Only after Lind tossed a few tens of thousands of beast teeth to the Sand Worm as a snack, chomping noisily, did it happily burrow its head into the rocks and assimilate into the underground to hibernate, awaiting Lind’s next summons.

"Black Knight, sir, the Waste Stone Mountains are just ahead," Ska pointed.

Lind cast his gaze forward, spotting not the mountains but a hill slowly moving. Next to it, the Subterranean Tunnel Worm seemed like a tiny earthworm in comparison, probably imperceptible even underfoot.

Such a behemoth could only be challenged by those truly capable of demolishing mountain ranges.

"That giant beast is one that came out from the Waste Stone Mountains," Ska said with a worried look, "Why has it appeared now?"

"What is it?" Lind asked.

"It’s a type of giant beast. We call it the ’Mountain King.’ It has an active volcano inside it; it cannot be killed, only driven away."

"Mountain King?" Lind became very interested. An active volcano sounded like a "Moving Spring Water" that might synergize well with his abilities.
