Chapter 527: Chapter 427 We Undead Also Have Our Own Paru_2

Lind, even though he had anticipated it, couldn’t help but admire in his heart when he saw the "trade" loot gathered by the Undead, well done!

He remembered that the Undead only had tens of thousands of beast teeth on them, and that was the total assets of 3000 Undead. The ones who left had at most three to five hundred beast teeth on them, yet they managed to bring back goods equivalent to those of a small town.

It really was a fair trade.

With the new map, without any restrictions, the Undead finally began to act unscrupulously.

"Sir, these are the things we bought!" The Undead deliberately omitted the less important part related to forceful plundering.

Bloodstained armor, bloodstained dried meat provisions, bloodstained ore, bloodstained... Beastmen.

Beastmen?

Lind looked at the several dozen Beastmen huddled together in fear, "Why have you captured them?"

"Sir, they are Beast Tamers, carefully selected to pair with Scorpion Fleas!"

Such heavy taste?

Lind nodded, the spoils of war brought back by the Undead were not something he didn’t need, and even if he did want them, the Undead wouldn’t give them to him, unless he immediately announced a mission that required them to hand over their loot.

It wasn’t impossible, as long as Lind opened another contribution store.

But to prevent himself from being exploited, Lind restrained the impulse.

"Look into the news related to the Mechanical God Cult, as well as the Lionheart King and the Corrupt King. We need to know more about the Wilderness Ruins," Lind said and then turned to leave.

The food supplies they brought were almost gone.

Undead could eat anything alike, food was just a tool for them to restore their state, and they would eagerly stuff dry rat meat into their mouths.

"Finally, we’re no longer just guarding the camp, but the main quest is too broad, right? There are red names everywhere, although after we subdue them, they’re willing to communicate... Does playing in the Magic Land mean conquering territories?"

"No, no, no, you don’t understand, since the main quest is given, there will surely be unexpected story developments to come, classic old game routines."

"Quick, tell me where you encountered this weird group, wow, that’s a big profit."

"We were indeed lucky, just as we passed by a ruined path full of cacti, a caravan of merchants suddenly spawned haha, we didn’t even have to make a move before they charged at us."

Another Undead chimed in, "Yeah, they tried to rob us, so we didn’t hesitate!"

"Didn’t you deliberately let one go?"

"All wiped out, not a single survivor was left, we brought the rest back."

"Man, you guys are hogging it all, letting one escape might have brought in reinforcements, like that last time with Black Blood attacking us. Lind immediately unlocked the Sand Pit Ranch. If a few more unexpected events happen, we might unlock a town, right? I’m really curious about the Beastman Poster Girl."

"Furry, right?"

"Just admit you want a Beastman Poster Girl."

"If I’d known, I wouldn’t have been so thorough in wiping them out."

...

In the Wilderness Ruins, the Beast Sacrificial Ground.

It is said that the Beastmaster once lived here, this was also the original "Stone Beast Fort". The sacrificial ground, which proclaimed itself as the Orthodox Royal Family of the Beastmen, has been struggling to survive on this land without a "king", relying only on its past glory.

There were countless legends about this place. It is said Ull, who possessed the title "the Beast", used to fight outnumbered and initiated counterattacks. With his sharp claws, he tore apart every commander weaker than himself and drained the enemy’s strength.

The enemy’s tide-like assaults lasted for over two hundred days but were never able to breach his defenses, until finally they retreated in exhaustion.

Beneath the sacrificial ground lay a ruinous abyss, the name Gray Ruins might be related to this place.

Below was a dilapidated and deep palace engulfed by darkness, with only its rooftops remaining.

The entire Beast Sacrificial Ground was an extraordinary structure built atop a massive palace that had shot up from the ground, seemingly level with the desert but beneath was a sunken construction, leaving one unable to discern whether it was a collapsed giant palace, or if the desert had descended from the sky in another form, covering the area and elevating the terrain.

Beasts stepped on the ridges, leaping to the dome above, as if living with a dilapidated palace beneath them was an everyday triviality for the Beastmen there.

The fragmented rock formed natural archways, like two slanted, load-bearing columns trying to pierce the sky, as if they were long spears parting the curtains of the night.

The Beastman clad in gold-trimmed armor strode quickly, standing at least half a human height taller, but beneath the "archway," he resembled an ant gazing up at the sky.

If the name Sacrificial Ground held true, perhaps a grand deity indeed descended here personally.

The statues of the great Beast Kings were not honored here; they lay scattered on the ground alongside shattered works of art and gypsum figures, paving the path.

The Beastman halted, looking ahead, "Our merchant has lost contact."

"What!" Ull the Beast, bearing the title of Beast, turned around.

He looked entirely different from the other Beastmen, with an exceptionally long mane-like that of a lion, and his cheeks did not resemble a human’s as a Beastman’s would but protruded like the long muzzle bone of a dog’s snout.

The situation at the Beast Sacrificial Ground was becoming increasingly dire, and now the merchant losing contact was like a bolt from the blue.

They might not survive much longer, with the power struggles among the Beast Kings getting more vicious by the day, and each one learning to hedge their bets, collaborating with the Abyss, the Mechanical God Cult, or other entities.

Without a ruler and always maintaining "orthodoxy," the Beast Sacrificial Ground would soon be devoured, unless the Dominus gave a response to His faithful Believers soon.

"Do you know who did it?"

"Our dispatched Trackers have found that those people used magic, and their methods were extremely cruel; almost all the bodies were charred to destruction."

"Magic?" For a moment, many thoughts raced through Ull the Beast’s mind.

Like the Corrupt King, Lionheart King, the Mage Tower nearby that claimed to be "hands-off," and even those occasionally lucid yet equally insane Ghosts.

"However, those people are not adept at hiding. Our Trackers have followed the traces and have tracked down their general direction."

"Where?"

"The Wilderness Ruins, over the unpopulated border mountain. They likely come from the ranches in the desert."

"Ranches?" Ull the Beast thought he had misheard.

Those fellows breeding Scorpion Fleas at the ranches couldn’t possibly have the capability to attack an elite merchant caravan.

Those lowly Beast Tamers, doomed to a life of breeding Scorpion Fleas, had their destinies capped by their occupation.

"Send someone to investigate," a female voice suddenly came from the side.

It was a figure wrapped entirely in black robes, like a statue made of stone.

"Don’t underestimate those people. We can’t afford another failure; perhaps they are plotting an attack against us."

"Yes, High Priest."

...

At the Sand Pit Ranch, the Undead were growing more restless.

After Lind unreliably threw out a "main quest," the Undead had to rely entirely on their own means to explore.

They tried kidnapping, extortion, and clearing out the surrounding villages.

However, one thing did please them. After they took out the military force of a Beastman village, the remaining Beastmen would surrender obediently. Though still marked with red, they would diligently work.

These Beastmen were very useful.

Building, farming, nobody thought of rest.

The Undead had their Paru too.

"This is the proper way to play the game!"

As the Undead watched the Beastmen working obediently and thought back to the so-called "privileged soldiers" in their homeland of the Rand Kingdom, they felt that life here was more appealing.

In the Rand Kingdom, once soldiers had power or weapons, they would refuse to farm, and forcibly making them farm would cause a drastic drop in favorability.

But it was different with the Beastmen; if you didn’t do it, plenty of others would, since they were all marked red anyway.

Beneath the Undead’s frantic infrastructure efforts, a small oasis appeared in the desert, created by the hard work and sweat of the Beastmen.
