Chapter 505: Chapter 414 Qualification Match

The ladder competition was held at Snake Catcher Fortress, and as soon as the message went out, tens of thousands of Undead immediately rushed to register.

How could you have a game without the most interesting PVP mode? Previously, due to a lack of official updates, the Undead could only settle their vendettas in the wild.

But combat in the wild just wasn’t satisfying enough; it was too far from the Respawn Point, lacked excitement, and was unfair.

It was common for pre-set traps or gang brawls to occur.

However, the official PVP didn’t have those problems.

When the Undead arrived on the scene and read the announcement, they wanted to complain.

"No restrictions?"

"Use any tools?"

"Doesn’t that mean the big spenders are invincible?"

The Undead lamented the world’s unfairness. They faced the unjust treatment of the wealthy in the real world, and now in the game, they could only become part of the experience for those who paid to win.

But still, the ladder competition had to be fought. At least at this stage, the difference in strength among most people wasn’t that great.

Currently, there were only these categories: Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Master.

To play in the ranking battles, one had to first compete in qualifying matches, ten games in total.

Victory in each match earned points while failure deducted them, filling PVP with uncertainty.

My Huanqu Will Not Lose was among the first batch to sign up and take the stage. His combat style had already matured. While others were just curious about the game’s PVP mode, he was excited, eager to properly compete with the other Undead.

Standing at Snake Catcher Fortress, he could look up and see the huge arena; Lind had anticipated this day since the very beginning of its construction.

The entire arena was constructed by magic, modeled after Great Rift’s fortress architecture, and some of the floor tiles were even dug up from there, ensuring that the environment wouldn’t easily change during battle.

The arena was divided into dozens of open-air venues, and aside from the central, gigantic arena which was temporarily closed, all other places were available to queue up.

Additionally, watching others duel was completely free, though occasionally some children would run by, selling snacks.

The atmosphere of medieval duels was at its peak.

Watching others fight was like watching a superpower blockbuster; it was entertaining just to sit there every day and watch.

Now, in the first ten qualifying matches, my Huanqu Will Not Lose drew lots and only found out upon entering the arena that his opponent was an Undead with a female appearance.

Light armor, holding a magic wand, and even her boots twinkled with a faint glow.

The distance between the two was quite substantial. My Huanqu Will Not Lose felt a bit of a headache; it would take at least three to four seconds to close that gap, giving his opponent plenty of time to react.

As the "begin" command was sounded, my Huanqu Will Not Lose rushed towards his opponent with maximum speed, while she retreated, reaching into her pocket and scattering a cloud of mist.

Illusions appeared instantly before him, a giant Cyclops looming completely over the Witch, preventing him from determining her next move.

Playing the game up to now, with a limited number of skills, PVP felt more like a game of rock-paper-scissors as long as you could identify the opponent’s class and the difference in attributes wasn’t substantial.

Not seeing the next move could be a disadvantage, but retreating wasn’t viable either. If distance was put between him and the Wizard, what if she took the opportunity to fully charge her spell and launched a powerful finisher at him?

Closing the distance was the best strategy.

My Huanqu Will Not Lose charged forward, dissipating the Cyclops illusion, and with a quick grasp of his left hand, he pulled out a small shield.

As his vision cleared and he spotted the Witch again, a fireball was forming in her hand.

"Blocking a fireball head-on?" My Huanqu Will Not Lose breathed a sigh of relief.

If she had continued to use Alchemical Tools or other fast-acting spells that could disrupt his rhythm, he would indeed have a problem. However, despite having the initiative and clear vision, she chose to use the slow-casting but highly damaging Fireball, simplifying matters.

In this game, it wasn’t just about having the highest stats!

As her fireball was ready, he leapt suddenly, and as she instinctively adjusted the angle of her fireball, he had already made his move towards it.

His small shield unfolded a barrier, slamming into the Fireball.

Flames rapidly spread, forming a hemisphere that enveloped him and exerted constant pressure from within.

Crackling noises filled the air; the barrier began to show cracks, the pressure mounting.

Just as the barrier was about to collapse, my Huanqu Will Not Lose quickly switched his weapon to a greatsword. The Witch was now within his striking distance.

Intense fire overwhelmed the barrier, spilling over him like water, but he quickly took cover behind the sword, using its broad and massive blade to block most of the flames.

The edge of the blade became pitted and uneven from the heat.

And with the "Enchantment" on his greatsword, my Huanqu Will Not Lose lunged forward with his knee and, sword in tow, charged right up to his opponent. His figure continued to rise, surpassing the enemy’s height, and as he leaned forward, he twisted his body.

"Lind’s Lion Slash!"

The greatsword, enveloped by flames, spat out scorching heat like a breathing hunk of iron, as the air resonated with a deep roar.

From the stands, the Undead could only see a red beam slicing through.

The sound of the sword smashing into the ground was heavy and deep.

All that was left was for my Huanqu Will Not Lose to stand alone, propped up by his sword.

And the ash floating in the air.

A one-hit kill? Certainly not; but thanks to his tactical consecutive attacks during the previous burst of flames, combined with the Wizard’s low health, he was able to finish the battle quickly.
