Chapter 481: Chapter 402 Cunning Tongue

Lind wanted to leave Rand Kingdom, and it was hardly a secret.

The most suitable assistants in his eyes were Wen and the Crystal Mage, although their powers were a bit weak in comparison to boss-level adversaries.

But, as expected, both of them refused him.

One from Permafrost Land and the other from Magic Land, neither had plans to return; their top priority was to eliminate the threat of the Great Rift, and in Lind’s opinion, they were indeed well-qualified NPCs for the "Great Rift Expedition" version.

Although William had broken many bones, he was rescued and brought back.

As the current protagonist of Rand Kingdom’s version, William’s talent needs no further mention. He possessed noble talent without the faults typical of nobility and was daring in battle.

Although the pacing of the version made him face the legendary boss with Lind at the Heroic Rank, nearly causing him mental trauma, it has to be said that he truly was a son of this version and adjusted his state very quickly.

He was willing to follow Lind to a broader world, but he needed to visit home first to see his father and siblings.

"You rest and heal; after you’re better, I’ll go with you."

Lind certainly couldn’t let William leave; he had plenty of resources to train him, but what he lacked were geniuses.

It was hard to find a few in Rand Kingdom who had the talent or persistence to become heroes.

Not having talent wasn’t really a problem as long as one had persistence and patience to succeed, but in reality, disposition is also a part of talent, and the ability to endure hardships is a talent too.

On the other hand, the Bunny-toothed Witch, Lind didn’t plan to take her with him. It seemed better for logistics personnel to stay behind and study, with the Crystal Mage as her mentor, fully supporting her growth to legend status, though the Crystal Mage might lose quite a bit of hair and even shorten his lifespan.

For this reason, Miss Mico was quite unhappy.

Leaving the Gate of Mephisto.

The morning sun was just right, dew tremblingly sprawled on the saw-toothed grass of the new era, wild grass growing in the distance, the greenery from the human era had disappeared, replaced by the flora of a new era.

William sat on a stretcher carried by soldiers, his body wrapped up like a rice dumpling.

The soldiers leading the horses walked at the forefront. From now on, the market at the Gate of Mephisto might remain, but it already bore traces of life.

Wen and the Crystal Mage walked behind, their gaze on the two figures—one tall, one short ahead—smiles inevitably appeared on their faces.

"Hey, William, I heard you have a type of pig’s trotter hot pot in the south?" Lind purposefully bypassed Mico to strike up a conversation with William on the stretcher.

"Ah—! I’m talking to you!" Mico jumped up and down in front of Lind.

A cornered rabbit will indeed bite.

William on the stretcher grimaced; the General purposely playing the ’invisible game’—could he not drag him into it? After all, Miss Mico had to prepare his medications herself.

Artist Boyd, walking at the very back, quickened his pace and approached Wen: "Raven City Lord, about the matter we discussed earlier, what have you considered? My great artistic creation lacks your perfect body."

Wen, who had been enjoying the view of a lion teasing a rabbit and couldn’t help smiling, suddenly had his smile freeze.

Swords out of their sheaths, the painter seeking a model quickly quieted down.

The sunlight of the new era enveloped this noisy group, heading for distant places. The sun penetrated the morning dew, casting their moving figures in the shaking dewy world.

...

Snap!

Dew was crushed by chaotic footsteps.

Breathing heavily, gasping for air, the tip of the boot sank into the muddy ground, the sole sticky with black mud that clung to the grass stems, slowing the pace of the escape.

Sunlight pierced through the gaps in the forest leaves, shooting down like arrows in front of the fleeing figure.

Lips dry, sweat beaded on the forehead.

Fuller had never imagined he would find himself in this situation. Since the Lady of the Night he had summoned died in the flood of the Undead, he and four Night Demon Girls had chosen to flee.

From what he had gathered, heading to Crimson City seemed a good option, but crossing most of the Rand Kingdom to reach Crimson City, which was reported to have been long deserted, led them to opt for disguising their identities and heading to the southern Griffin Territory instead.

In the early stages of the great expedition, the Griffin Duke had only dispatched the Undead, an illegitimate son named William, and several logistical soldiers. Conversations with merchants revealed that the south had always maintained a lax contact with the Rand Kingdom.

The journey to the Griffin Territory went without incident; while the images of the Night Demon Girls sparked some curiosity, they weren’t prevented from passing, thankfully due to the Undead always managing to make themselves look bizarre, which eased their travel troubles.

The south was just a temporary stop for rest, as their plan was to continue travelling south across national borders to other countries.

Fuller explained to the Night Demon Girls that they were seeking greater power to avenge the Lady of the Night.

However, upon their arrival in the Griffin Territory, a problem arose; the Night Demon Girls suddenly knelt to pray, claiming they could hear the Lady of the Night’s whispers and intended to return to her side to serve Lind.

How could this be!

Fuller could only, in the dead of night, grasp their hair and easily slit their throats with a blade.

Immediately afterward, Fuller’s nightmare began— the Night Demons seemed certain it was he who had orchestrated all this and they launched an endless pursuit against him.

A gust that tore through the air approached, and Fuller abruptly lunged forward, his head hitting a rock, stars bursting in his eyes.

A "whoosh" of an invisible spiritual attack smashed onto the ground in front of him, tearing it up as if a beast’s claws had swept across.

He turned around and found eight Night Demons surrounding him, with blue skin, faces full of anger.

One of them, Lilith, was walking towards him.

"Listen to me, Lilith!" Fuller spread his arms, noticing the blade in Lilith’s hand.

"Listen, my mind was bewitched, my will out of my control, influenced by the Abyss, I..." As Lilith approached, Fuller sprang up, lunging at her.

Being a Great Knight as he was, close contact with a witch would generally allow him to easily counter-kill her.

But he didn’t want a counter-kill; he wanted to use Lilith as a hostage.

However, his body did not move as Fuller had imagined but was suspended in mid-air.

The other seven Night Demon Girls, their wrists wrapped with Magic Marks, transformed their spiritual power into giant hands, seizing him with seven massive hands, rendering him immobile.

Lilith agilely jumped onto Fuller’s shoulder, crouching down, her palm gripping his hair, and slowly brought the blade close to his throat.

"I curse your deceitful tongue!"

The blade sliced through Fuller’s throat, blood gushing.

"Where do we go now?" The Night Demon Girls were already unconcerned with Fuller’s corpse.

"Goliath? I heard there are many Night Demons there, all worshipping the Lady of the Night."
