Chapter 442: Chapter 372 Miss Doris’s Well of Ideas
The weather was clear.
Lind rode out with the Expedition Army, elongated like the edge of a sword.
The dragon and lion banners fluttered in the wind while the sunlight, falling upon the Golden Armor, illuminated everything around.
In the end, Tao Lexi left alone; she had arrived with confidence, but she left a solitary figure.
Aside from Tao Lexi, everyone was satisfied with the expedition.
William had become a faithful knight to Lind, believing that in many ways, Lind was more mature than himself, his eyes seemingly able to see through the future.
"Sir, can you see through the future?" After thinking it over for several days and nights, and watching how Lind turned the Undead from chaos into an order-following force, William couldn’t help but ride over to Lind’s side to ask.
"No one can see through the future, or perhaps when you see the future, everything you do may well contribute to its arrival."
William said nothing, but his look conveyed his confusion.
"I once met an old woman who could see through the future," Lind said.
"And then?"
"Then she died at the end of my sword. She had prophesied that I was Baya; you might have heard the name?"
William nodded.
Lord Baya, though the various territories no longer communicated, some information still occasionally managed to flow.
"She told Baya that I might help Lania to take back the Rand Kingdom, that I might even kill him, and then Baya started to guard against me, even schemed against me in the shadows, causing many soldiers to die or be injured."
Even though his conflict with the Snake People Outpost and the ten sons had started by accident, he never regretted killing them.
William said, "But both he and she failed."
"No, they succeeded," Lind shook his head. "Look, the final outcome developed as they envisaged. I really did kill Baya and continued to swear loyalty to Lania. Had she not given that prophecy at the outset, I think we would not have had such a major conflict."
"But why have you been able to proceed correctly all along?" asked William.
After separating from Tao Lexi, William immersed himself in the Expedition Army. He had investigated many stories about Lind and to his astonishment discovered that Lind hardly ever failed. Lind brought all the territories except for the Great Frozen Land under his control in two years, an accomplishment that could not be explained simply by courage and prowess in battle.
A small territory’s war can often last three to five years, and a Duke’s Territory war might even span over a decade, consuming two generations.
But Lind, like playing chess, moved forward, took the pieces, and then made the next move.
To bring the country back to unity, if it were before the collapse of the Ring of Magic, his achievements would have certainly been recorded in history; now, he may already be noted in the historical account, as the people of the Rand Kingdom were singing his name.
"Whether it’s correct shall be judged by posterity; we don’t have the ability to judge. But if you come any closer, I guess the future will definitely find a love story between us in the unofficial history books."
"What?" William asked, puzzled, before following Lind’s pointing finger. Doris was looking at them excitedly, her cheeks flushed with the thrill.
She glanced up at the two men before lowering her head and writing furiously, her pen flying swiftly over the paper.
Clearly, Miss Doris was brimming with inspiration.
"Miss Doris!"
"Sir!" Doris suddenly snapped her notebook shut, her expression immediately wilting.
As Lind beckoned, Doris dragged herself and her horse over, albeit reluctantly, and presented her notebook to Lind.
Her lips were pursed.
"Is this what you were just writing?" he asked, pointing to the contents of the notebook.
Using his keen eyesight, William also quickly glanced at the notebook’s contents, his face turning sour.
He deeply admired Lind; that did not mean he wanted something to happen between them.
"Sir, I’m just responsible for recording what I see, without the right to make judgments, it should be left to future generations to evaluate..."
Her voice trailed off, growing softer. She tried to use Lind’s earlier argument as an explanation but lacked the courage to do so.
"Put effort into recording this war," Lind said. "Many will die, and I think instead of recording such content, they should be remembered as the protagonists of the story."
"I understand, my lord!" Doris took the notebook with several pages torn out, her face serious.
Once out of Lind’s sight, Doris immediately opened the notebook.
"What, they’re all torn!" She had thought that Lind would not see the part she wrote about Lind and Miss Miko.
Lind, holding several pieces of paper, smiled, "Do you really think I can’t figure you out?"
Flames burned, turning the paper to ashes.
He had spent so much time with Doris, he knew exactly what kind of person she was.
Before the Expedition Army set out, Lind had started taking Hero Tier Sun Knight Path Magic Potions, and he should be able to finish them by the time he reached the Gate of Mephisto, successfully leveling up to 31.
After that, he could take Epic Level Storm Knight Path Magic Potions, but before that, he needed to get an Epic Level Heart of Calamity for Miss Miko to brew the magic potion.
However, she lacked experience, so it would be best to prepare 3 to 5 Hearts of Calamity to increase the margin for error.
There should be no shortage of materials inside the Abyssal Great Rift.
Lind needed the Epic Level Sun Knight magic potion recipe; Heroic Level would barely patch up the weakest part of his capabilities and still limit his growth.
The Great Knight powers from various paths that he possessed were also starting to lag behind, and to avoid being eliminated by version updates, he had to accelerate the acquisition of more powers.
Lind set his sights on high-level institutions like Sky Star Magic School and Far East Magic School, and it would be best to go directly to Permafrost Land, where even the most basic combat units were of Epic Level, so obtaining high-level magic potion recipes should not be difficult.
He hoped to find news of Gobai Knight Clorey from the Great Frozen Land there.
However, the journey must be undertaken step by step, first to the Great Rift to hunt for Epic Level Calamities, then to brew magic potions!
The only companions following Lind were Miko and Doris.
Expeditions were not games, no matter what Lania thought, she had to sit on that golden toilet she was sculpted into.
As for his fiancée Tione, she indeed wanted to join Lind, but seeing a zero in his affection, Lind rationally believed he should not allow her to do so.
The huge chunk of the Ring of Magic behind her head was a treasure and a ticking time bomb; better to keep it hidden as an immovable asset.
The Expedition Army passed by Snake Catcher Fortress.
The steel construction had been completed, towering higher than the original snake nest, although the interior facilities were not yet fully perfected, and the residential area was still vacant, waiting for Immortals who would earn money in the future to come and buy homes.
The arrival of the army attracted the attention of the newbie Immortals, with Lind being the main focus, of course.
Every newbie who was confirmed to appear in the Rand Kingdom would definitely search for strategies online, and the part about Lind in the Rand Kingdom was the most extensive.
He was one of the main characters in the early stages of the game.
"Land, look at me, look at me!"
"Ah, husband!" The shout came in a husky voice, immediately recognizable for what it was.
He tried hard to keep his expression unchanged.
All of them were men!
Lind visited the Crystal Defense Tower again, demonstrating his importance to the place.
Without Immortals, Lind would not have been able to build it.
If he wanted Crystal Defense Towers placed throughout the entire Rand Kingdom, and even in the expanded territories, he would have to send Immortals immediately to pioneer the Great Rift.
Without their hard work, the kingdom’s finances would be unsustainable; the NPCs were not capable of hard labor, physically unable to handle it. Only Immortals could put in the work, and they also had the motivation.
Lind met with ’Poet’ Miss Inar again; she was selecting a group of children to train in singing and playing instruments.
Whether buffing poets could appear on the battlefield in the future depended on her training.
Supportive warriors were rarer than offensive ones, and Lind even emphasized Inar’s importance; however, Snake Catcher Fortress lacked a lord, requiring Lania to be distracted with its control, resulting in significant delays.
Once Inar trained the first batch of supportive warriors, an army that belonged to the Rand Kingdom would also take shape.
