Chapter 433 - 365 Version’s Protagonist: Lind is the Me in My Dreams

Chapter 433: Chapter 365 Version’s Protagonist: Lind is the Me in My Dreams

The team was not allowed direct entry into the Royal Palace; they could head to a familiar Noble estate to rest.

Now, in all of Goliath, the only Noble estates with owners left were Armand’s and the Druids’.

The former was not familiar with Griffin Fortress, while the latter welcomed all comers but had no visitors.

"What’s the matter?"

Tao Lexi looked at her brother. Though William was a bastard, the customs of Griffin Fortress made it hard to distinguish between statuses, and everyone was always treated as blood siblings.

A bastard without inheritance rights would do their utmost to assist a brother who had them, cooperating with each other. Tao Lexi was the most favored among them.

In her childhood, no one dared to trouble Tao Lexi because bothering her meant facing a dozen or so brothers jumping to her defense.

Even when she first met the great Prince Cote, he was continuously apologizing.

Even if you are a prince, you cannot refuse a duel among knights, and this would be a battle in succession.

"Did Goliath have this before?" William pointed at a massive tower-like structure ahead, which, unlike a typical tower, constantly emitted some sort of energy fluctuation.

"No," Tao Lexi recalled the legends about Lind mentioned on her way there, which didn’t include this tower.

Perhaps it was just an insignificant part of Lind’s numerous "great achievements."

"Do you feel something is wrong?"

"No," William shook his head, "but I am very interested in the Duke, and I hope to persuade him to go to the Great Rift."

Ultimately, they chose to wait for a summons at a newly built tavern in Goliath, road-weary from their travels.

Tao Lexi needed to wash up briefly, then eat something to fill her stomach.

The horses also needed feeding, and the soldiers needed to take their armor off to breathe.

"They are all Great Knights," a Griffin Soldier couldn’t help but say.

"Every one of them!" another nodded.

It was almost madness; who could have imagined such a scene? Here, what would be elite soldiers or even officers in Griffin Fortress were merely patrolling, maintaining order, and even showing the way.

Everyone felt that repledging their allegiance to Goliath was the right thing to do, otherwise, on the day of battle, they would certainly die very miserably.

Upon entering the tavern, the space was extensive.

It resembled a vast hall or a noble’s ballroom much more than a tavern, with dozens of tables stretching as far as the eye could see.

People were already dining in the tavern, and a few Bards were singing, creating a relaxed and joyful atmosphere.

The sound of a pipe and whistle followed the beat of a poet’s boots tapping on the wooden floor.

"That Bard, is he an Undead?" Tao Lexi, drawing attention as she entered the tavern and lifted her skirt.

"Without a doubt," William nodded.

Then a very beautiful Undead woman approached the stage, whispered a few words, and the style of music suddenly changed.

"What song is this?" Tao Lexi found the song quite pleasant, a style not found in the Rand Kingdom.

"Let it go," an Undead came over voluntarily.

Tao Lexi was used to the offenses of the Undead; they always seemed to want some "task" from her, but that didn’t mean they liked working or were willing to show loyalty, on the contrary, Undead were very picky, lazy, and undisciplined. They would beg for tasks, but if the rewards didn’t satisfy them, they would just turn around and leave.

The dignity of the nobility was trampled and rubbed on the floor, making Tao Lexi angry, but William always stopped her and showed the Undead great leniency.

So, Tao Lexi ignored them and climbed the stairs, holding her skirt.

The Undead from before watched Tao Lexi depart with her chin raised, smirked, and returned to his table: "She’s nothing compared to our Poster Girl!"

"Nonsense, did you not see, those Poster Girls were all captured by Lind; this one came on her own, but she is indeed beautiful!"

"Like a little princess, I’d rather go and boost Tione’s favorability, outsmarting Lind!"

"Smart move! How high is your favorability rating now?"

"Red name, man, he draws his sword to nuke me on sight, I’m avoiding him now."

"Puhahaha!"

Under the guidance of a tavern maiden, Tao Lexi headed towards her room while her maid went to prepare water for her to wash her face; William, having no servant, focused on the Undead.

Sitting alone at a long table, William ordered a dish with a local specialty.

When the food was served, William was somewhat surprised; this was nothing like what he had eaten back at Griffin Fortress.

"What kind of meat is this?" he hesitated to eat directly.

"Chicken," the serving maid at the tavern was a bit perplexed, wondering how anyone could not recognize such a large chicken leg.

"Chicken, you have chickens here?!"

His sudden outburst made the whispering Undead turn their heads to look over.

"Man, this NPC’s pretty bold, looking for chickens in the tavern."

"Hey, really though, why haven’t we seen a chicken yard?"

"You can’t even get your pants off; what do you need that for?"

"Let me at least have a taste."

"Yes, Goliath has a chicken farm," the tavern maiden nodded, unclear as to why this was surprising.

Meat had always been a scarce resource. Compared to human mutations, animals mutated more often. Even in Goliath, meat would only appear on the tables of the King, the Duke, and others, while soldiers who joined the army might occasionally enjoy meat. Otherwise, one had to go to a tavern to partake.
