Chapter 388: Chapter 329: Armand Manor_2
Miss Troll’s meaning was that she suspected if Lind were to look for a Pharmacist within the army, the person might pull some tricks and assassinate this General, who was full of potential.
Indeed, Lind himself was very aware that his team was complex in composition because it consisted of not only Rand Soldiers and Riven Soldiers but also possibly infiltrated by Black Island Soldiers and the Blood Clan left behind in Riven.
"I have a trusted Pharmacist on her way here," Lind said.
Esha did not stay any longer as she had many things to take care of; the "Awakening" of the Old Nobility was at a critical moment, and Goliath had many ruins to fulfill her archaeological needs.
Only Lind and Lania remained in the room.
Lania picked up a stack of papers, the densely packed text making Lind’s scalp tingle.
"If you wish to appreciate poetry, I can recommend a few Poets to you, or if you like painting, I know some Painters who are very skilled. But don’t give me work; I need to recuperate right now," he said.
The materials reeking of ink smell had accompanied Lania into the room, but Lind had deliberately ignored them until now.
It was only when Lania picked them up that Lind realized he could no longer pretend not to see.
"We’re in a tough spot, Lind!" Lania handed the materials to Lind, "The news of Goliath’s war coming to an end will certainly break out."
Lind casually flipped through the materials, which were organized data including current detailed statistics.
"Are you worried the Black Catfish Prince will strike at us?" he asked.
"Perhaps not just him," Lania said with concern.
The Rand Kingdom, which seemed to be reclaiming sovereignty, was still leaking from all sides.
The northwest direction from Star Dragon Ridge to the central region, including the Snake Catcher Fortress, Mountain Demon Castle, Riven City, all the way to the Royal City Goliath, were the forces he currently commanded.
But further west of Lind’s territory was the Gate of Mephisto, beyond which lay the Great Rift.
Taking Goliath as the center point, heading straight north was the Great Frozen Land. They had already lost control of the Crimson Knight arena, which was taken over by the Fire Salamander Party, and the Blood Clan lurked in the mountains of the Frozen Soil Mountain Range to the north.
Right now, Lania didn’t even know that her own father, Redwald, had become the Crimson Monarch.
To the east was Black Island, where the Black Catfish Prince was eyeing them covetously.
If they truly wanted to develop, contacting the Duke of Griffin to the south was a good option.
However, he was labeled as "The Officials friendly" force, and the towns beneath Griffin Fortress had also become the main city of the Undead.
It implied, to some extent, that the Duke of Griffin or one of his relatives might have been brainwashed by "The Officials."
Lind held absolute vigilance and hostility towards any force friendly with "The Officials," initially approaching with the intent to kill if possible, only considering negotiations if they couldn’t be killed.
The interior of Goliath was also unstable, not to mention the chaos within the army that Lania had mentioned; the creatures in the Royal City Dungeon were yet another batch of troubles.
Lind was not even sure how many of those creatures there were, or how chaotic they were.
"Lania, can you still find the previous records?" he asked, "About the information on prisoners held in the Royal City Dungeon."
"That’ll be difficult," Lania shook her head, understanding what Lind meant because quite a few creatures had continuously escaped from the dungeon—although not strong, they did not represent absolute safety, "Is it safe for us to stay here?"
They pondered whether to take a risk staying in Goliath, turn around and retreat to Mountain Demon Castle, or even Riven City.
"We’re not safe anywhere," Lind stated the grim reality.
They’d won the battle, but they were still a weaker force.
"Miss Tione wishes to see you, she’s waiting outside," Lania said with a calm expression, casually mentioning it.
However, her eyes still glanced at Lind, who was now looking down at the materials.
He was wearing a simple robe, the loose and open shirt revealing his strong chest, and the intricate circular patterns on his skin resembled the carvings on a beautiful ceremonial blade, less imposing without his usual armor.
Lania still remembered the prophecy by the murmuring old woman, which she scoffed at, but she acknowledged the old woman’s assessment that Lind’s "aggressive" demeanor was the reason he had made it this far.
"What?"
Lind casually tossed the materials onto the table and then lay down on the bed, twisting his body, and suddenly sucked in a hiss of pain.
"What’s the matter?" Lania asked instinctively.
Lind rubbed his shoulder: "I felt a pea under your mattress, and it’s hurting my skin."
Lania rolled her eyes, hating those so-called fairy tales, "Don’t keep your fiancée waiting too long, and even if you’re not in danger, it’s time to get out."
"Wasn’t it you who told me to stay here and recover in peace from the beginning?" Lind said as he got up, he undid his robe, completely indifferent to Lania’s gaze.
On the battlefield, he was exposed to much more than this, and the Undead had recorded it and turned it into videos, which were now highly popular.
Lania watched silently as Lind’s upper body, sculpted like marble.
She saw him put on a shirt and then a loose robe over it.
The loose garment didn’t make him look "thin," because he was simply too tall, pushing the limits of average height, and when he stood next to Lania, his muscular body imposed a strong sense of oppression on her.
Lind no longer had to do the public speech; Lania was far better than him at it. He wasn’t born with any kingly charisma, and he had no interest in sitting on a golden throne, which he figured would give him hemorrhoids.
