Chapter 330: Chapter 284 Round Table Conference
Under the escort of soldiers, Queen Rania headed towards the front to the council area.
The arrogance of the New Nobility was trying to infuriate the likes of Marcus, Reed, and other Great Knights; soldiers who had firmly chosen to side with the Old Nobility retained an infinite loyalty. As the initiators of this "cooperation" and also the rebellious "New Nobility," they did not take the initiative to welcome her but instead waited for the Queen to personally come to them, which was undoubtedly a form of humiliation.
Perhaps this meeting could be directly turned into a charge; with just one command from Queen Rania, the Cavalry were confident they could teach these rebels a lesson in blood.
Queen Rania always demonstrated her monarch’s talents, tolerating any offense against herself, even responding with a smile.
"Let us go meet those who, like us, are struggling in this era."
She was very calm. The arrival of the Flying Dragon represented Lind’s stance, and besides, the Queen was already above Lind. Her personal appearance also represented the attitude of the Old Nobility.
"Don’t get hung up on formalities, Marcus. The plague is the problem we need to tackle most urgently right now."
More importantly, as long as Lind did not come, no matter what the New Nobility planned to do, they would have to consider Lind.
His absence meant safety for Rania and the others; even the New Nobility would have to ensure Queen Rania’s safety.
Seeing a Flying Dragon for the first time, and even the Queen, evoked complex emotions in the hearts of the Riven Soldiers.
The proud New Nobility, unwilling to come forward, and the Queen, who maintained her composure for the sake of peace, presented a stark contrast.
The Riven Soldiers who resolutely followed the New Nobility said nothing; they just felt the charm of Queen Rania at this moment.
But the Undead were different; they always made judgments based on their subjective feelings. The right and wrong of factions mattered far less to them than a charismatic character.
As the village chief of Newbie Village, Lind seemed to lack the "tragic" aspects or the charisma. He was like a specific image envisioned by a planner, always making decisions that provoke cursing but are nevertheless followed by relentless spending and hard efforts.
He was forever disassociated from charm.
"Indeed, beautiful," the Undead whispered among themselves.
"Starting today, Queen Rania is my new wife!" another Undead declared, not to be outdone.
"Can’t you guys like something else?"
"But I do agree with this! Truly worthy of being my cyber girlfriend," another chimed in.
Pretty female characters aren’t rare in the game.
The Undead are able to create a stunningly handsome face at the beginning of their character creation, followed by pairing it with a devilish figure. However, female characters without story and personality support are like cardboard standees – utterly unattractive.
Characters who occupy a spot on every top beauty NPC list almost always have very distinct traits.
Beauty is just the basic requirement for selection.
Beyond appearance, Queen Rania’s attitude also gave the Undead a different experience – as a Queen, she was sufficiently friendly, noble yet not aloof.
This approachability, coupled with her emphasis on peace, involuntarily stirred feelings of admiration and allegiance in the Undead.
Only those like Marcus, who followed the Queen closely, knew that this was just the Queen skillfully using some of her tactics. She was very adept at showcasing her own charm, and those with keen minds could sense some clues to respect her even more.
A monarch need not display absolute sincerity; methods that invoke fear can also earn respect.
She was not as clumsy as Lind.
Although their loyalty made them unwilling to hear anyone slander Lind, it was clear that Lind’s methods couldn’t compare to Rania’s.
He always traded tit for tat, whereas the Queen was much more clever.
Perhaps for this reason, the Queen felt very assured about him, for she had long realized that Lind lacked the potential and ambition to become a King.
Perhaps it was this very clumsiness that made the soldiers remember Lind, who was not present at this moment.
No, although Lind was not present, that dragon could represent him! They themselves could also represent him!
The soldiers puffed out their chests, the sudden change in their demeanor left the Riven Soldiers bewildered; the Golden Knights were spirited and filled with confidence.
The so-called meeting place was at the ruins of a small outdoor roadside station. The dilapidated walls were overgrown with the withered vines of a new era, the leaves as small as fingertips fiercely digging into the cracks, attempting to merge with the wall.
The roofless building welcomed any visitor.
Flame Tumor Alex folded his wings, resembling a giant hunchbacked snake crawling on the land, lazily following behind Queen Rania.
His tail swayed left and right, whipping up scorching hot winds.
An Undead tried to stealthily approach the big fellow but was knocked over by the gust from Alex’s sudden tail swing.
The Undead spat out mud and got to their feet only to see Alex looking at them with what seemed to be a hint of amusement in his eyes.
He had been mocked by a mount! Even though it was a Flying Dragon, it was still a mount.
Meanwhile, Queen Rania had already entered the ruins of the station.
The roofless space was bright enough.
The entire space had been cleared, leaving only a round table, and several people were already standing around it.
The round table meeting, standing before her were the most powerful forces of Raven City.
The most eye-catching was a woman with extremely short hair, like a man’s, who enshrouded her body entirely in a black cloak as dark as raven feathers.
Her face was very delicate and pretty, with a slightly upturned nose and skin far whiter than Queen Rania’s. Her eyes seemed to be etched with mystic runes, beckoning one to look into them, yet instinctively repelling with their indifferent chill, forcing others to lower their heads.
Queen Rania smiled at her, feeling at that moment as if she were an ant.
Gazing directly at a deity with the body of a mortal.
Inner turmoil made her throat slightly parched, she was sure that she had not felt this way even when facing an enraged Lind or Flying Dragon Alex.
This meant that the short-haired woman’s strength far surpassed that of Lind.
Queen Rania recalled seeing a similar face somewhere before, and after pondering for a while, she finally remembered.
That face could be seen in sculptures and frescoes of churches.
It was a face with a divine aura.
She was the legendary Songbai Knight Guard from Permafrost Land, the City Lord of Raven City.
But, where were her wings?
Another person was an old man, his right hand, like a withered chicken claw, emerged from his robe holding a twisted staff as gnarled as tree roots.
The seemingly ordinary staff had a crystal ball embedded at its tip, inside which, there was a fragment emitting strange light like a snowflake.
There was also a woman dressed in a plain, loose black robe, her head wrapped in a headscarf that symbolized vows of chastity and purity, with a black belt around her waist representing obedience, poverty, and chastity.
Unlike the indifferent divinity of the short-haired woman, her delicate and pretty face bore an allure that could not be ignored. However, she controlled it very well, keeping it subtle, showing only her personal charm, yet it was hard to believe she was an upright nun.
As for the last person, Queen Rania maintained her smile, but her violently constricting pupils and rapidly beating heart betrayed her unrest.
Her intense reaction drew the attention of everyone present except her. This included the Great Knights who were responsible for following and guarding from behind, as well as the Flying Dragons that had already spread their wings.
Thud, thud, thud, thud!!
Heart racing.
The sound was loud!
Queen Rania looked at the face before her—a familiar one that filled her with revulsion.
He should have been dead, or turned into a mad noble!
But now, he stood here, smiling at Queen Rania.
"Dear Her Majesty the Queen, are you very excited to see me?" he asked with a seemingly kind smile, yet it made Queen Rania feel uncomfortable and even nauseated.
She knew what kind of person he was, as did the entire Rand Kingdom.
If one had to choose the most utterly vile person, the man before her would certainly top the list.
Cruel and fierce, with sword skills beyond belief, and taking pleasure in the bloody torment of others, he had often come close to sparking disputes on a whim and showed great interest in slaughtering commoners and even other nobles in duels.
Queen Rania subconsciously envisioned herself as Lind. What would he do if he were here? Perhaps he would have directly pounced to kill the man, because that was always Lind’s way.
Although there had been no direct conflict between Lind and him, Lind had friends and distant brothers who had died at this man’s hands. Every time there was a noble duel exhibition, this fellow would jump on stage if he felt inclined.
No one could defeat him, and the young nobles seeking glory would die.
There had never been anyone so feared before turning into a monster. Queen Rania had even thought that the end of days might not be entirely bad, since it could take away some troublesome characters.
Yet, the moment she saw him, she was certain it was the worst news of the day.
Far worse than the new nobility of Raven City preparing an ambush to rout Lind, or their disdain for the war between Raven City and Mountain Demon Castle.
She understood all too well Lind’s style of handling things. He did not like to leave danger unaddressed and would always take the initiative against uncontrollable factors. The man before her was an absolutely uncontrollable variable.
Just like the day Lind disrupted her wedding and killed her "fiancé," even congratulating her on becoming a widow.
Lind was always so despicable and yet so proud.
Queen Rania forced a smile that even she loathed, but she understood that it was something only she could do; some charged forward, while others needed to oversee the entire situation.
To fulfill the covenant of companions she made with Lind, she had to do some things he could not.
Exercising patience was one of those options.
"It’s a pleasure to see you again, Uncle Saiwen,"
The man before her—Sword Saint of the Rand Kingdom, the most notorious criminal and lord, Black Catfish Prince Saiwen Hedwin!
