The Boss King actually disguised himself as a novice village chief?! -
Chapter 322 - 276: [Grape Aphid Removal Worker at Fox Hole, lv2]
Chapter 322: Chapter 276: [Grape Aphid Removal Worker at Fox Hole, lv2]
During the day, one could see people in the streets, and every villager displayed fear towards outsiders; but come nightfall, they would hide in their homes and not show their faces, and in the vastness of the village town, not a single communicative person could be found.
After walking for quite some time, he finally arrived at a place named "Hedgehog Alley," because there was a huge notice posted there.
[Grand Opening of Hedgehog Tavern: Delicious grape wine now available in limited supply]
Additionally, the notice came with a map, as if afraid those coming to drink would be unable to find the tavern’s location.
As an outsider, he could determine the location of the tavern based on the map.
Now he truly had no choice but to go.
He advanced down Hedgehog Alley, torch in hand, along the brick-paved path.
Not far along, a hanging stone bridge appeared above his line of sight.
The architectural style of this small town was very cramped, with layers upon layers; it was as though people lived in worlds of different heights, and looking down from the side of the bridge, the houses seemed to grow on cliffs and precipices like cliff cypresses. The fastest way to get from one street to another was not to follow the streets, as that would make one lose their way.
The best method was to jump down.
Here, every place was a "shortcut."
The underside of the bridge overhead, lit by the torchlight, had a body suspended from it by iron chains, clad in a white robe, resembling a clergyman.
The atmosphere suddenly became several degrees more sinister.
He hurried past beneath the body, with the spirit of exploration now clouded by a shadow.
When he first entered the Fox Hole, the Undead’s mood was still calm; after all, no matter how strange, nothing could go wrong in Newbie Village, right?
But since the encounter with the suspended corpse, he began to sense something was amiss.
The sky turned murky in an instant, and dense fog seemed to slowly rise around him, as if he had abruptly left the Medieval Magic World and entered into a world of horror and supernatural style.
This was not an unfounded judgment.
From the game’s beta version 1.0 to now version 2.0, it had showcased many forces, the clash between people, between people and Calamities, and between magic and Flames; but most of the time, it was thrilling combat, slaughtering monsters, and so on.
But the game had never been as eerie as it was now.
If it was a Newbie Village, it was too strange, but if it wasn’t a Newbie Village, why couldn’t he see any enemies?
He noticed that the stone walls and iron railings around him were covered in withered vines, the leaves had completely shriveled up, yet they stubbornly clung to the vines, like leeches rooted on a person’s legs.
"Swing the big knife at the heads of the devils!" I Have an Early Eight wanted to sing out loud, then he suddenly remembered the words of the old Hunter Charles, and quickly lowered his voice.
With a red star on the chest, let any demons and ghosts come if they dare.
Yet he still felt a bit apprehensive; regardless of whether getting hurt in the game was painful, he was the kind of odd person who, given the same horrific visuals, would not be scared at all if told they were from Magic World’s beasts, a style of fantasy and magic, and he could even pause to analyze frame by frame.
But if told it was of the horror genre, then it would be a completely different story, and he would wish to weld his hands to his face, forever observing through the gaps between his fingers.
Horror games bring pure mental distress.
Suddenly, a figure staggered out ahead, interrupting his thoughts.
The figure was wrapped in a black cloak, hunched over and appeared to carry a sickle in one hand and a torch in the other.
The distance between them was not too far, yet the figure showed no sign of noticing him, even as the light from his own torch flamboyantly illuminated the figure’s face, there was still no reaction.
I Have an Early Eight could clearly see the health bar above the figure’s head.
[Fox Hole Grape Aphid Remover, lv2]
[Health: 50/80]
This must be the vineyard enemy that Edwin spoke of.
Indeed, a red name.
I could bypass them, or I could kill my way through.
This was a multiple-choice question, and in the Hedgehog Alley, there was only the option to move forward; to reach the pub, I had to advance.
Moreover, I Have an Early Eight didn’t think he couldn’t handle that hunched figure. He crept closer to the opponent, his right hand gripping a pitchfork backward over his head, making him look as though he were preparing to throw a javelin.
He was getting closer.
The other party showed no reaction.
It seemed that as long as I made sure not to make any noise, the eyes and nose of the other party couldn’t detect my presence.
Unfortunately, when there were only two meters left, the Aphid Removal Worker turned its head to look over, and that face appeared quite normal, even more so than Edwin’s, except that the skin was ghastly pale, almost reflective under the light of the flames.
The Aphid Removal Worker opened its mouth to express hostility; inside its mouth, apart from the outermost row of somewhat ordinary human teeth, four or five rows of sharp, dense teeth filled the cavity, reminiscent of some creature’s maw.
I Have an Early Eight reacted swiftly. His left foot kicked off the ground, and his body soared up as his right hand thrust the pitchfork fiercely at the opponent’s head.
Four metal prongs easily pierced the Aphid Removal Worker’s head, the great force causing the creature to stagger and fall to the ground.
Blood overflowed from its eye sockets.
I Have an Early Eight’s heart surged with excitement.
If it were only a wobbly foe, then he certainly wouldn’t be afraid.
He stepped on the enemy’s chest to pull the pitchfork out and then thrust it down again. His arm, excited, stabbed down twice before the third strike hit the mark.
The health bar emptied!
The Aphid Removal Worker in front of me should still fall within the human category, so the pitchfork could execute directly after piercing the head.
It was exhilarating to kill an enemy for the first time.
He now realized in hindsight that he had forgotten to turn down the game’s sensory settings a bit.
The weirdly realistic tactile sensation transmitted from the pitchfork made him feel that if he were actually to kill someone, the sensation wouldn’t be much different than this feedback.
Luckily, this was just a game.
He bent down to grab the corpse, surprised to find that it was very light, probably weighting only thirty pounds or so, and he could easily flip it over with a slight lift.
It wasn’t until after the fight that he realized, it seemed there was no gushing blood.
Had he turned on "Harmony Mode"?
He stripped off the other’s clothes and put them on, and although they had no special effects, at least he no longer had to endure the embarrassment of being without pants.
I Have an Early Eight continued along Hedgehog Alley.
The wind that swept through the alley brought a low moan, brushed past his black robes, shook the light on his torch, and finally raced off into the distance. But now, he no longer felt fear; the enemy had already shown their health bar, so there was nothing to be afraid of.
The huge sign, under the cloudy and shattered moonlight, reminded the Undead that he had found the place.
The Fox Hole Tavern!
In the showcase at the entrance, a stack of books was displayed, while the strange vines encountered so often on the road had taken over an entire wall.
The faint flicker of candlelight and the soft noises coming from inside the pub indicated that indeed, there were people inside.
"Someone’s there!" I Have an Early Eight excitedly pushed the door open and entered.
Then, what met his eyes was a room full of blood-red names.
