Chapter 311: Chapter 265 How to Play with an Unimpressed Lind
Lind felt that he must be one of the most considerate NPCs out there.
Although he was a fake NPC, that did not stop him from locating BOSSes for the Undead, and not only that, but he would also take initiative to step in and clean up when the Undead couldn’t beat the BOSS.
If there really were an official ranking, he believed he would certainly be listed as the most popular... BOSS.
The appearance of the Cunning King was a bit unexpected, and what he witnessed was the dire living conditions of the Old Nobility.
Not only did they have to face the hunts of the Undead and the New Nobility, but they also constantly faced threats from the Abyss, or other entities coveting their bloodlines.
The Old Nobility could only squat in their castles, waiting for enemies to come knocking one after another, until they were killed.
Another reason Lind had to act was the "Abyss"; he felt a strong aversion to the term, almost feeling nauseated upon hearing it.
The first thing he considered on his way to Snake Catcher Fortress was whether he should eliminate all Undead potentially infected by the Abyss to prevent a possible plague outbreak.
Fortunately, the situation had not yet deteriorated to that extent.
When Lind arrived on his Catastrophe Warhorse, the Undead were eating jerky, drinking liquor, playing cards, and then sitting on a small hill outside Snake Catcher Fortress to watch Baron Ronan writhing about.
"Oh, here comes our Lord!" The Undead saw Lind riding towards them.
"Watch the CG!" someone else shouted aloud.
Watch the CG? That’s not wrong, as the current power level of the Undead was insufficient for this caliber of battle, but this was only temporary, so they better watch the show obediently.
Carrying his Broken Sword, Lind charged on horseback towards Snake Catcher Fortress, which had collapsed yet still prevented the giant snake from escaping.
Within the ruins, the snake with a drooping head writhed its body.
Gale winds raged.
A blood-red arm extended from a split wound on the giant snake, grasping a Longsword entirely condensed from the Storm.
After the bombardments, the ground was completely deformed, with rolling stones occasionally lifted by the storm and hurled toward the sky, then crashing down to earth.
It was like a relentless hail of boulders bombarding the land.
Lind rode forth alone, yet it did not stir a sense of tragedy, not just because of his own belief, but also because the Undead had a strong deja vu: Lind was not going to his death, it seemed he was going to crush the weak.
Unless there was a huge gap in strength between them, Lind never feared one-on-one battles, especially since both he and the Old Nobility had bloodline powers.
With the name of Noble, the Noble bloodline, and a hoard of treasures, saying that Lind was the toughest to kill BOSS among the antagonists that had appeared so far was an understatement.
"Ohoho" A cunning laugh sounded.
"A new one," a deep voice emanated from Baron Ronan, but everyone present could feel the revolting sensation coming from the gaping wound on his neck, that thing which always hid within his body.
Lind stopped in front of the fortress ruins. He looked around, and the collapsed walls had not become any shorter; instead, because of the twisted terrain, they had piled up high.
The Snake Catcher Fortress had now turned into a concave basin in the mountains, and the serpent-like monster coiled within it was the Master of the Serpent’s Nest.
Ash drifted in the air, with cold winds continually slamming against Lind’s face.
The Catastrophe Warhorse stood still, halting all movement as the immense terror ahead caused it to freeze, obeying its bodily instincts.
Lind leaped down from the horse.
The grail at his waist conveyed its willingness to help Lind fight this monster, provided that Lind cooperated with it.
This request was once again ignored by Lind, having never heard of asking for outside help when fighting an opponent weaker than himself.
Lind couldn’t see levels, but he could sense the difference between himself and his foes, especially since he possessed Absolute Control over his strength.
Like now, although most of his tremendous power was hidden within his second heartbeat, he could clearly feel that upon entering the state of his second heartbeat, he could effortlessly challenge the giant snake with his sword.
All were BOSSes, there was no such thing as an attribute buff or suppression due to status. When it really came down to it, Lind was the one who had been strengthened more absurdly.
If the esteemed Leon were still standing in front of Lind, he could strike first, making it impossible for the other to even undergo Abyssal transformation.
In the span of a year, the Undead were forcefully updated and unable to progress, while others tread cautiously, adhering to routines. Only Lind ceaselessly digested and absorbed, fully mastering the Old Nobility’s BOSS power within himself.
The sky had already darkened, when suddenly, the Broken Sword in Lind’s hand erupted into Flames, thoroughly illuminating the somber sky.
With just the power of the first heartbeat, he had already reached Hero Rank, a genuine level 31 and above.
The form of the Carrion Queen, which emerged from the sword, became even larger. It could no longer perch on Lind’s shoulder, only nestle behind him, eyeing the great serpent with a tiger’s watchful gaze.
Lind looked at the Carrion Queen; although it was just a manifestation of the Broken Sword’s power, it was still a source of strength at his side. Every time the Carrion Queen appeared wrapped in Flames, he felt a sense of comfort.
He lifted his foot and stepped forward, the earth beneath his feet crunching as he walked.
That towering giant figure, like a city wall, looked down upon him. Its massive eyes blinked like windows, silently waiting for Lind to enter its attack range.
"Lind! Lind!" Ronan the Baron watched Lind, his voice filled with a strange tone. It was hard to discern whether he was angry that Lind had broken his word by coming, or if he was pleading for Lind to grant him a quick death.
"I’ll take it as a plea," Lind said softly. "We don’t really have that much of a grudge."
His true enemies were the ten sons. Those insane fellows had already died in the Dragon Fire.
And although Ronan the Baron looked somewhat strange, he had never actually harmed Lind’s interests, merely requesting that Lind avoid this area.
His gaze shifted to Ronan’s neck and the arm that was reaching out.
Lind raised the Banshee’s Horn, his target clear.
Curse!
The first sound of the horn signaled the charge of the attack.
Useless? Lind frowned slightly. It seemed that both Ronan the Baron and the Cunning King had an unexpectedly high resistance to Curses.
But it didn’t matter, he had plenty of opportunities!
Blow again, Curse!
Continue the Curse.
On the 10th attempt, the Curse finally took effect. Lind could see mold spots appearing on Ronan the Baron’s massive head, and his muscular body seemed to begin decaying, unable to support itself any longer.
By the 20th time, Ronan the Baron’s condition had worsened, whereas the blood-red arm became increasingly ferocious.
So you thought you were immune to Curses?
Just as Lind had previously told the Queen, he would never let go of the opportunity to oppress the weak. In a battle of life and death, it’s the weakness that is exploited!
Though Ronan the Baron appeared huge in size, his strength was actually far less than Lind’s. After being weakened by the horn’s Curse, his power diminished rapidly, growing weaker and weaker!
"What the hell?" the Undead watching this scene from a distance stood up, one by one.
They couldn’t see Lind’s information, as they were on the same side and bore no hostility.
But they could see the state of the great serpent, ah! After Lind crazily blew the horn, the serpent’s HP began dropping rapidly, with the speed of the loss increasing by the moment.
"The Lord is that mighty?"
"What kind of Divine Equipment is this?"
Their whole battalion had been wiped out while hardly making a dent, yet the Lord came over, blew some status with the horn, and without even fighting, nearly took out half the BOSS’s HP? Is this game still playable?
So unbalanced. How can you play if Lind isn’t nerfed!
No, wait, this is our own NPC father, not a BOSS. Oh, then it’s fine, keep powering up.
Continue drinking, continue watching the show!
Continue playing music, continue dancing!
