Chapter 118 - 118 109 Cyclops Aihad 5 more
118: Chapter 109: Cyclops Aihad (5 more) 118: Chapter 109: Cyclops Aihad (5 more) Once again, they stepped into the narrow corridor filled with volcanic moss.
The gazes of the Undead lingered on Renzo, who walked at the forefront.
Cloaked in a thin black robe, Renzo brought an overwhelming pressure, especially when the blood-red flames ignited in the palm of his hand—the rational beat of the flames made the Undead’s breathing tense.
The heaviness of boots on the ground with every step caused slight tremors that reached the volcanic moss, which would then emit the sound of a baby crying, irritating to anyone’s ears.
“There’s one ahead,” an Undead warned.
Then they saw the blood-red flame in Renzo’s hand morph into a long serpent that slithered from his palm onto the ground, rapidly moving toward the volcanic moss.
The crying sound of the baby burst forth at the moment of contact, but it abruptly cut off as if a giant hand, anticipating the event, had seized the source’s throat.
The body of the flame serpent grew somewhat larger, wriggling back into Renzo’s palm and reverting to a ball of blood-red flame.
The threats hidden within the corridor finally met their nemesis.
The foes that had left a group of Undead at a loss were trivial in front of Renzo.
“BOSS-level,” someone muttered.
Clearly, Renzo’s strength was nowhere near that of Lady Serene, and even during the battle with the twenty-something-level Earth Dragon, Renzo could only offer support.
In the face of the Earth Dragon’s massive form, Renzo’s contribution seemed negligible.
But now, they truly recognized that the man before them was of BOSS-level; even five or six Two-Headed People probably couldn’t stand against him.
The blood-red flame serpent moved swiftly, releasing one after another, feasting before returning.
Renzo’s aura seemed to be growing rapidly.
Feasting on some conceptual entity, he could now gorge himself, and even though the meal was small, it was still a rare intake following Lind.
The Undead following him quickened their steps, which then turned into a fast run.
It was the first time it had been this easy.
The Points spent were truly worth it!
Getting the first wave of loot from the new lands and handing over the harder-to-get materials to the Lord—that was really making a killing.
If they encountered a BOSS and managed to get a complete Heart of Calamity, it would definitely be a pure profit.
A full Heart of Calamity, with the Points they’d accumulated, could absolutely be exchanged for a Mage potion from the Wizard Path.
Mage, I’m coming for ya!
After a good while, they slowly reached the end of the Dragon Tooth Trail.
“Thunderous sounds—”
Thunder?
The noise from ahead, upon penetrating the Dragon Tooth Trail, kept striking the mountain walls, echoing not to diminish the volume but to amplify it, surrounding them with sound.
The pebbles on the ground hopped with each thunderous roll.
The soles of their feet were tickled by the vibrations, prompting Renzo, who walked at the forefront, to slow down his pace.
Up ahead, the light grew brighter and brighter…
until the brightness replaced their vision, and then a vast open space took the place of the former narrow mountain path.
The wide road was spacious, but looking ahead, they could still see layers of mountain peaks.
“Thunderous sounds—” The noise sounded even broader now.
They looked around but couldn’t locate the source of the sounds.
“There’s a bridge ahead,” the Undead notified.
A broad stone bridge connected the eastern side of the Dragon Tooth Trail to the other end, and beneath it lay a deep pit with winds blowing faintly upward from it.
At this point, regardless of the true nature of the thunderous sounds, they had to move forward.
They stepped onto the stone bridge, and nothing happened.
With a sigh of relief in their hearts, they walked ahead, chests out, heads held high, as if leaving the Dragon Tooth Trail had brought them into a whole new world.
After crossing the bridge, they needed to follow the road south.
“Thunderous sounds—Hmm?”
The dull thundering finally changed, but the nasal sound of confusion made everyone feel uneasy.
Could the thunder’s owner be a creature?
The quickest to react was Renzo, with blood-red Flames erupting in his palm, the spitting Blood Python opened its mouth and bit toward the small hill ahead.
A hill?
It was a hill!
Rumbling, that small mountain was moving, in the Undead’s eyes, the peak shook, dragging down rocks and earth splattering their way.
What was most terrifying was the health bar that creeped anyone out, as well as the level 38 with a red name.
[Lizard Conqueror・Cyclops Aihad]
A few withered trees grew on its neck like rooted plants, and upon awakening, it only had to sit on the ground to be over 4 meters tall.
And when it fully stood up, at more than ten meters, almost the height of three or four stories, the Undead could only look up.
“Damn it!”
Good news, they encountered a BOSS.
Bad news, it was a mid-to-late game monster!
Renzo’s attack finally arrived, and the horrifyingly crazed blood serpent bit down, and then…
did it lose health?
A rock was flung by the Cyclops, hitting two Undead, the ground exploded like it had been blasted, the massive tremor destabilized those around, and the struck Undead perished immediately, their health bar emptied; their contorted bodies were thrown, tumbling down after hitting the mountain wall, eventually rolling off the bridge and into the Abyss below.
Now, nobody was thinking of anything else but running away, hoping that the tall one wouldn’t catch up.
Their frantic running left them gasping for air, their bodies pushed to the limits, fortunately, they rushed back to the Dragon Tooth Mountain path before the flying boulders caught up.
Listening to the Cyclops’s furious roars outside, the Undead exchanged looks.
“Did we take the wrong path?”
If Lady Serene really came from here, how on earth did she escape the Cyclops’s pursuit?
“Is there a possibility that the Cyclops has legs and can walk on its own?”
“I hate bosses without boundaries!”
They looked to Renzo, but he had already turned to head back, “We must inform the Lord of this situation.”
The Undead glanced at each other.
“Telling the Lord will probably be useless.”
“Yeah, after all, he’s just the Newbie Village chief.”
“Don’t you guys feel this scene seems familiar?
I remember a post saying they were also blocked by a Calamity and couldn’t leave, then a super strong NPC came, dealt with the Calamity, and invited them to Main City.”
“That’s a level 38 Cyclops, I doubt even Main City has NPCs of that level.”
“Wait a minute, I’ve got a crossbow!” an Undead said, pulling out a crossbow, because the Cyclops couldn’t cross the stone bridge – it was too clunky, and stepping on it would undoubtedly be suicidal, so it could only furiously fling stones as a means of attack.
An arrow bridged the distance between them, connecting from the crossbow to the Cyclops.
“It’s losing health!” the Undead cheered.
“Do you think, if we keep exploiting our point-of-view here, could we take it down?”
“It would be hard, because it can also regenerate health.”
“Damn, you’re right.”
“Wait…
what if we successfully class change to Curse Wizards?”
A few pairs of eyes lit up.
Exploiting terrain bugs, they were familiar with that.
But they still didn’t have enough Points, what to do?
“Go back to farming, raise birds, sell eggs!”
