"If you’re ashamed of having my Boss’s child, why then did you do it?" Gus asked confusing the woman before him the more.
"What is that supposed to mean?" Claudia barked at him.
"I already know the truth miss, you’re pregnant for my boss but don’t want his wife to know about it, that’s fine. But I already gave her the report and she’s going to find out anyway." He said and was about to walk away when Claudia grabbed him by the collar.
"Listen here, you dimwit." She turned him around to face her. "You seem to have forgotten who you’re talking to." She said.
"I haven’t," George said calmly. "But don’t you have no shame Miss Claudia, you’re engaged already, yet pregnant for another man?" Claudia wondered what this man was talking about, he was saying something totally different from what she was saying.
Did he think she was pregnant for Alanis? She smiled. If she was, she would have exposed it long ago. Why the hell would she hide Alanis’s pregnancy?
"Listen here, I’m now a part of the Hamiltons family, which means I can get you fired from the company." Gus was unfazed by her empty threats. Gone are the days he had been scared by her, after seeing everything she’s done, he has lost all respect for her.
"You can do whatever you want, I’ll just report you to my master." He said.
"Then you’ll be dead by morning." George came into view.
"Where is the document, give it back to her now," George said.
"I’m sorry sir, but you’ll be disappointed if you see the content of the document. I think your wife should explain to you, but I cannot retrieve it from my madam." He said politely and started walking away.
"What is he talking about?" George turned to Claudia who had no idea too.
"I don’t know but he’s getting away, George, catch him before he leaves," Claudia said.
"No, what the hell was he talking about? What secret are you not telling me?" George yelled at her.
"I told you I have no ideas why not make him explain to you?" She yelled back.
"He said something about me being pregnant for Alanis when that is in fact not true, maybe that’s what he was talking about." She said and George ran after Gus, but before he could get to the little man he was already driven off. George gritted his teeth in anger.
He turned on his heel as he headed back to Claudia. "You need to tell me everything that’s happening." He said.
"That stupid man has my medical report which shows that I’m still pregnant George. Harlow already has it, it’ll be a disaster if she reads it." Without thinking George hurried towards Harlow’s Villa.
Meanwhile, the doctor finally left Alanis’s room after cleaning the covering the wound. He arrived in the lounge where Grandma Hamilton and Harlow sat waiting for him.
"The wound isn’t so deep like I imagined it would be, so no stitches are needed." He said.
"I’ll be every morning for a week to dress the wound." He added and Harlow nodded seeing him out.
"Mrs Hamilton, your husband’s recovery is in your hands take good care of him and try not to be harsh with him." He smiled and then walked away. He had no idea why Alanis would tell him to say that to his wife.
Fuentes shook his head softly as he walked away. The last thing he wanted was to get caught up in the Hamilton family’s drama. On his way out, he saw George walking in and smiled at the young man.
"George, how are you doing?"
"I’m not in the mood, Fuentes." George shunned him and walked away. Harlow and Grandma Hamilton both went ahead to see the injured man leaving the document Gus had brought on the couch Harlow had sat on.
But when she got up, a pillow had fallen on it without her knowledge. She didn’t know the content of the file and assumed it to be work-related which is why she has not even bothered opening it.
When George and Claudia got into the Villa again, they were greeted by Ava who was instructing a few maids to clean the place up.
"Where is it?" Claudia demanded.
"Good evening Miss Claudia." Ava greeted with forced respect. The nerve they both have to come in here after everything they did. She eyed Claudia stylishly. She was waiting for the day karma would catch up to her. Ava could already imagine how joyous that day would be.
"Keep your greetings to yourself, where the hell did Harlow keep my reports?" Claudia yelled at confused Ava.
"I have no idea what you’re talking about Miss Claudia," Ava said. "But not to worry, I’ll get my miss Harlow right away," Ava said as she headed towards the stairs.
"Find it, George, Harlow has asked that man to keep it here and he did." She said staring at the table filled with documents. Harlow has a habit of keeping important files and documents on the side table, in her past life and in this life. Claudia smiled as she approached the table.
"Come help me look through them." She said. Not only was she afraid of them knowing she had lied to punish Alanis, but she was also scared of her true identity being revealed. She couldn’t let anyone know about it.
She needed to get her hands on that document else she would be doomed for life. Claudia’s heart raced as she looked through the file one after another.
The file Gus brought should be the first on the table right, so why does this read something else? Claudia moved her hands through her hair, her breath ragged as she looked around.
"I don’t think it’s here, if Gus brought it today, it’s supposed to be the first file on the table," George said.
"I know, but I’m not seeing it." Then she turned to George as realization hit her. "Are you sure Harlow didn’t take it to Alanis ready?" She held George’s arm, her eyes moistening. "We can’t let that happen, George, it’ll be over for us."
