Alanis stepped out of his Villa with Harlow and Charlotte tailing behind him. All of the servants gathered around both male and female waiting to be commanded. A few glared stylishly as Harlow and others just bowed their heads.

Ava who had been scared all morning since the news was on the verge of panicking. They were all blaming Harlow for this. Some even said she deserved to take the punishment, not their master Alanis for killing Claudia’s child.

She deserves to be in jail for her actions. Most people thought. Meanwhile, pale Claudia sat on a chair quietly, her mother behind her as they watched Alanis walk in.

George smiled as he saw his proud brother walk towards them. For years he had built an unhealthy hatred for Alanis, for years he had been patiently waiting for the day he would finally put this man in his place. The day he would humiliate his elder brother, and thanks to Harlow, today seems to be the day.

George was more than ready to whip Alanis tonight. Since he wanted to take his wife’s punishment, he should as well be ready for the consequences of it.

Harlow stared at the chains in the servant’s hands, her eyes trailed to the many weapons on a large table. It would be the weapons George would be using on Alanis. Even if she hated Alanis, for the first time she felt sorry for him. She wished there was something she could do to save him.

Alanis was doing this for her. She’s meant to be the one in his position, she should be the one getting flogged for killing Claudia’s child.

Harlow’s eyes moved to her sister and she frowned. Though her face looked almost unrecognizable, she didn’t look like someone who just had a miscarriage. She’s had one before and even if she’s still untouched in their life, the pain of losing her child was still very much clear to her.

"How does it feel to be the loser of the family now? I hope your sacrifice to that woman will be worth it." George mocked smiling at his brother.

"Chain him up quickly let’s begin the punishment, I don’t have time to waste." He commanded the servants and they quickly did as instructed. They bound Alanis both hands with the chain and tied it to a tree there.

Charlotte who was standing next to Harlow until now moved forward, "According to the rules, you’re to use just one weapon throughout the punishment. So pick one amongst all of these." She instructed.

George stared at the weapon clicking his tongue. "This punishment just turned boring." He said poking Alanis on the cheek. "Don’t you think brother?" He asked with a smile.

"Oh, you don’t know how long I’ve longed to do this. You don’t know how much I’ve longed to put you in your place." He said next to Alanis’s ears just for only him to hear.

"Be careful what you say, George, you will not be punishing me forever. Enjoy this little achievement while you still can. I’ll get my lick back." Alanis smiled. His indifferent attitude only fueled George’s anger as he picked one of the weapons without thinking.

"It seems you’ve made your decision, now you can’t change that," Charlotte said to see George smile.

"That isn’t good," Ava said beside Harlow.

"Why not?" Harlow asked her maid softly.

"The weapon master George selected is a dangerous one. It is sjambok, a weapon created mostly for animals, not humans." Ava whispered. "Oh Miss Harlow, one whip from that weapon would tear master Alanis’s skin open. Are you sure he can survive fifty whips?" Ava seems to be panicking already.

"Oh don’t worry Grandma, I won’t be changing this." George smiled swinging the whip in the air. He raised his hands to administer the first stroke when "Wait." Claudia said and he stopped.

"What is it, sweetheart?" George asked giving all of his full attention to her. Claudia could not believe Alanis would choose to go through this torture for Harlow. He would rather die than let Harlow suffer.

"What if the offender is too weak for the punishment, will he complete it?" She asked wanting to know more about this punishment in hopes that maybe, Harlow would still get involved.

"It’s a beating to the death. If the offender lives after this, he’s lucky, if he dies, the stroke will continue on the dead body until someone willingly takes the punishment from him. Charlotte explained. If everything Halw said is true then Claudia deserved everything Harlow did to her for killing her Alex and other grandchildren.

Alanis was not the person Claudia wanted to see beaten, but since he decided to take the punishment for his wife, then so be it.

"George raised his hands again and the first stroke landed on Alanis’s back. The whip tore through his shirt as it met with his skin. Everyone expected a reaction, but Alanis gave none.

He would never give his brother the satisfaction he needed.

George listed his hands again and this time Harlow closed her eyes. No matter how much she despises Alanis, she couldn’t watch him getting flogged for her mistake. The sound of the whip clashing against his back sounded again and again and again.

George was destroying Alanis’s back with the whip as he flogged him with all of his might.

Claudia and Elisa stood by the sidelines smiling as George assaulted his brother.

When Harlow opened her eyes again, her heart dropped at the sight before her. Alanis’s black shirt was torn like rags and his torn flesh was exposed with blood oozing from him. But Alanis didn’t show any weakness, or make a sound.

He stood frozen at a spot with his eyes closed.

Harlow wanted to take his place, she wanted to scream for them to stop, but Ava held her. She would never be able to handle something like this.
