Chapter 164: Secret Aide

The asylum had turned into no less than a hell, all the leftover staff brought and made to bow to the two devils. They trembled and silently cried, cursing themselves forever working here. Damien and Ronan looked at the staff kneeling in front of them, every person seeming suspicious in one or the other way.

"So, the CCTV was ruined just like that?" Damien interrogated the jailer who had almost pissed in his pants. When he didn’t answer, Ronan moved his gun over his forehead to his mouth, forcefully griping his job and shoving it inside his mouth.

"Whoever keeps lying to us, will eat a bullet next," The Italian mafia prince warned, his murderous glare making everyone tremble in their spots.

"Trust me! " The jailer murmured, his words barely clear with the gun inside his mouth.

"We aren’t lying, sir!" One of the staff murmured, daring to rise up and rush to them. One of Damien’s men translated what she said and Damien locked his eyes on the young woman who scrambled to the jailer’s side.

"Just like you, they just came over, destroyed everything, and dragged her out. They had bigger rifles and even bombs to blast us all if we didn’t send her away." The young woman continued the scene from last night still fresh in her mind. "Please leave my papa." She cried out loud, clasping her hands and bowing to them.

"Ye-yes sir!" Another chimed in, gathering a little bit of confidence. "They seemed like men from Vicente Lobo don."

The name alerted both Damien and Ronan who exchanged glances with each other, even his minion who had translated looked in shock. Ronan took out the gun and kicked away the jailer, their attention fixing on the guy who spoke earlier. Damien gestured to come over with his gun and the man got up before hurrying over.

"They all wear a batch on their shoulders and I saw it closely. It was Lobo organization’s batch!"

"And what more do you know?" Damien asked, trying to gather up more information.

"Livana was monitored by someone influential. We all were aware of it and were threatened to not speak about it outside by higher-ups. We believed she must be someone close to politicians but it seemed like Lobos were looking after her. " The young man, Nikolo shared everything, having no fear of losing his job since Livana was already taken away. He had always observed her from afar and felt a little bad, knowing how she was secretly tortured by the officials even within this place.

"The officials who looked after her are also gone with them. And I think they were all a part of Lobos." Damien’s brows creased as his junior finished translating the man’s words.

"They were talking of moving her away to place. But if she caused any trouble, they had received orders to kill her and throw her away. I think they are sailing through ocean port." Nikolo added, having closely heard since he was their first captive.

"And what if you are lying?" Damien asked, looking at the bullets in his gun. "What if you are a part of them who is left here to distract her in the wrong direction?"

Nikolo flinched as the translator finished his job. "Ta-take me with you. If I have lied, you can kill me instantly." Nikolo replied in a shaky voice, his eyes glowing with a mix of apprehension and honesty.

When the two devils didn’t budge, still unable to trust them, the poor guy sighed. Yes, he could understand their position. Taking a deep, he added, "We are taught that all patients are important to us and to see them as our family, sir. I swear on my mother that I mean no harm to Livana. I just hope she can live every human deserves on this earth."

Damien raised an eyebrow as Jimmy finished his translation. Even Ronan’s eyes gleamed in surprise, feeling Nikolo’s honesty in his voice.

"Alright. Let’s take him with us." Ronan declared, causing everyone else to sigh out loud. They just hoped to make this place and never return if possible.

Jimmy grabbed Nikolo and dragged him out. Damien glanced at the others, his eyes fixing on the jailer and his daughter before he walked out, followed by Ronan. His team also released the staff in the control rooms, rushing out for their next task.

The sun had already perched up, its sharp rays greeting them as everyone walked out. Damien felt his phone buzzing continuously and took it out. He let out a frustrated sigh seeing it was Evelyn. Cutting the call, Damien focused on his team. But Ronan’s phone started ringing and realizing it was Evelyn again, he turned it off. What should they tell her? They had failed their mission and her mother might die soon again.

"They might move in the night. And before that, we need to find her." Damien addressed his team, the head nodding on behalf of everyone else. "Send men to all the ports in this city. If we can’t find her by night, let’s wage a war on Lobos."

The head of Damien’s organization here, Derek opened his mouth to say something but shut it seeing his master’s determination. Even Ronan’s men who had mingled as one whole team with Damien’s were a little apprehensive. But since their boss wasn’t objecting to it, they prepared themselves for the worst.

"I need Gracia alive at all costs." Damien declared, his tone loud and clear. "So, make sure you search every corner of this city."

Derek nodded before turning around to split the thirty men into different teams. They needed more so he quickly called over to Carson and Rita to arrange for them. Gracia seemed someone really important and they would give their best to not disappoint their master.

[Meanwhile back in the mansion]

"What’s wrong?" Evelyn anxiously asked when Zevian’s expression changed. He turned to her, his phone still pressed to his ear as Damien briefed that Gracia was missing from the cell.

"Tell me, Ian! What’s wrong?" Evelyn pressed again, her heart hammering against her chest. Even Kiana who was playing with John stopped and walked over, holding her Mommy’s hand who looked pale and nervous.

"Alright." Zevian ended the call. Closing his eyes, he took a deep breath and looked at her. "When they reached her cell..." He paused, causing Evelyn to anticipate the worst, and continued, "She was missing."

"What?" Even Rita couldn’t help but frown in shock. They had visited her just yesterday, almost 24 hours ago and now she was gone? It just made it all worse! Whoever controlled her was stronger than they had guessed. Her thoughts narrowed to one person who had that much power in this country, and if Damien had to go against them, there would be a blood war today for sure.

Evelyn sat in silence, her heart clenching in heavily that she forgot to breathe. Kiana held onto her hand tightly, trying to comfort her but nothing was enough to stop her Mommy from breaking into tears.

"We should have acted fast! I should have gotten her with me when I was there!" Evelyn murmured, cursing herself. Tears trickled down her cheeks and Kiana immediately hopped over the couch, sitting beside her and wiping them away.

Evelyn broke down slowly, her body trembling slightly as she leaned down, her hands grabbing her hair. If anything happened to her, she wouldn’t be able to live without guilt or forgive herself. It seemed like she was the grim reaper of her mom’s life, whenever they met, it only put Gracia’s life at risk.

Zevian walked over and pulled her into a hug. "Don’t blame yourself, Eva." He murmured, his heart aching to see her in such a state. As she nestled into his chest, sobbing gently, he assured her, "They will find her."

Tears formed in Kiana’s eyes as she saw her Mommy cry so badly. She immediately hugged her from the other side and murmured, "Yes, Mommy. Uncle Dam and Ron will find her." Patting Evelyn’s head, she added, "They are super smart. Super duper is strong! They will protect Grandma from bad guys."

The little girl felt her tears trickling too when Evelyn didn’t stop and sniffled softly, "Please stop crying, Mommy."

Evelyn nodded and broke the hug. She turned around to Kiana who reached forward to wipe her tears. The little bear touched her Mommy’s forehead with hers, trying to comfort her in all the ways possible.

Zevian softly sighed as Evelyn’s sobs subdued down. Meanwhile, Rita and John watched with warm smiles, their hearts melting at Kiana’s love for her mother. They just hoped for Damien’s team to find Gracia quickly before anything worse happened to her.

Just then, Evelyn’s phone suddenly started ringing. She broke the hug and picked up the phone from the table. A frown tugged her lips to see that it was an unknown number. Even Zevian’s brows furrowed in confusion.

"Pick it up," he said, and Evelyn did, putting it on speaker.

[Port Ameranda.... It’s in a city next to where you are staying. Save her!] Someone spoke hurriedly from the other side before the call was cut abruptly.

Evelyn’s heart thudded in her chest loudly, and she turned to Zevian in shock. Rita quickly dialed Damien’s number, realizing it was a clue. While Zevian frowned, staring blankly at the screen. The voice felt familiar, but the muffled tone made it hard to recognize the person. Who was it? And why were they trying to help them discreetly?
