Chapter 82: You Are Not My Cassie Anymore!

Cassie selected the most secluded table for couples.

"Erik, about last night, it was really an honest mistake. The waiter was fired." Her voice faltered.

Erik looked at her thoughtfully.

"Don’t think too much. It is already in the past." He said indifferently.

Cassie sought his eyes. She reached out to touch his hand but he lifted it and took out a cigarette.

"Are you going back tomorrow?"

"Yes, after the conference we will head straight to the airport."

Cassie appeared melancholic. "Is there no chance for us to see each other tomorrow?"

Erik lighted his cigarette and just let it burn.

"No Cassie. We will be busy the whole day."

Cassie leaned closer to Erik. She looked at him with pleading eyes and said in a coquettish voice.

"Can you spend the night with me?"

Erik was taken aback by what she said. He was seeing her in a different light.

Cassie panicked when she noted Erik’s reaction.

"What I meant is we can just hang out like this and talk." She hurriedly explained.

Erik flicked the tip of his cigarette which turned into ash. ’Does she think I am stupid?’

"Cassie, if there is nothing else, let us head back. I have lots of things on my plate tomorrow."

Cassie hesitated. "Can we go back to the way we used to Erik?" Tears fell from her eyes.

Erik sighed. "Things changed Cassie. I think we are both confused. Let’s call it a night. I am also tired."

Cassie wiped the tears from her eyes and nodded. Her plan failed. She needed to execute her Plan B. She will not allow such an excellent man to slip from her fingers. She rearranged her emotion and followed Erik back to where the others were waiting.

When they were leaving the restaurant, she was expecting to share the car with Erik because he opened the car door for her.

Erik leaned over and said. "Goodbye, Cassie! I am happy that we met and settled our misunderstanding." He closed the door and went to the other car where his secretary was.

Cassie was fuming. His secretary must have seduced him that’s why he was cold to her since last night.

Aryana smiled warmly at Erik when he joined her at the car. She inched toward him and leaned on his shoulder. Erik caressed the left side of her face and tousled her hair. He realized that he liked the feel of her hair.

When they arrived at the hotel, Erik passed a bag to Aryana. "Wear that tomorrow when we go back to District City."

Aryana opened it and it was a burgundy two-button jacket with a matching short plaid skirt with a white and red pattern and a white long-sleeved turtle neck blouse. It was beautiful, especially when matched with thigh-high dark boots.

Aryana gave Erik a light kiss on his lips.

"Thank you. It’s beautiful."

The following day, they arrived at the airport at 9:00 pm. Aryana wore the clothes that Erik gave him. Erik regretted it because Aryana was attracting too much attention. Both men and women that they meet along the way would always take a double take on her.

A man who was holding hands with his girlfriend gazed longingly at Aryana when he passed by. His girlfriend was so angry that she smacked him in the face, cursed him, and left.

Marlon took a photo of Aryana and posted it on his social media account. Soon his post was flooded with comments.

"Love the outfit."

"What a pretty lady."

"Is she the bride in the Bay Gardens commercial?"

"Introduce her to me Bro. I’d like to marry her."

Cassie was in Marlon’s circle of friends. She saw the photo and her heart was filled with jealousy. It was the piece that she modeled the other night. Her eyes glinted with malice. She realized that the outfit looked prettier on the secretary than on her.

Aryana spent most of her time sleeping in the airplane. Her body has not fully recovered from the two subsequent nights that Erik tortured her. Erik covered her with a blanket and cuddled her in his arms. His gaze was gentle.

When they arrived at Central District, Aryana was shocked at the trending topic. She did not pay attention to local entertainment news when they were out of the country. Now that she was back and has slept all throughout the flight she was wide awake and greeted by disturbing headlines.

"Gaeya Corporation CEO seen with a famous model in Italy."

"Back in each other’s arms?"

"A Real Wedding for CEO Lee?"

Aryana clicked on the first link and saw Erik carrying Cassie at the theater. She already knew about that. She clicked on more photos and saw Erik sitting beside Cassie on the hospital bed and he was feeding her. The picture was a bit blurry but it still captured the adoring look in Cassie’s eyes as she looked at Erik.

Aryana’s heart ached. ’It is in the past. Erik did not fall for her schemes.’ She comforted herself.

Aryana clicked on the article titled "Back in each other’s arms." There were a lot of photos shared by different people. They were old photos of Erik and Cassie. A few were taken in college. They looked young and the way they looked at each other showed how much love they shared.

She continued browsing the photos. Her hand froze. It was a photo of Erik on his knees and proposing to Cassie who was looking over the moon, her hands clasped over her chest.

"A match made in heaven. I hope they will have their happy ending." a netizen commented.

"I am a witness to their love story. Fate must have brought them together again."

"Rooting for this lovely couple. Let the love continue."

A strange feeling engulfed Aryana. She was jealous and felt defeated.

She looked at the photos again but something went wrong. The photos were suddenly gone. She checked the trending topics but she did not find anything related to Erik.

She refreshed her browser and searched again. Still nothing. The articles and photos were all gone just like that.
