Chapter 74: One Jealous Guy

Erik woke up with a headache. The space beside him was empty and cold. Aryana must have woken up some time ago.

He left the bed and opened the balcony to let the sun in. A view of the park below greeted him and he frowned.

"Good morning boss!" Marlon greeted him from the balcony of his room. He was having his coffee while sitting leisurely on a lounge chair.

"Looked like you had a long night. It was unusual of you to wake up late." He joked.

"You still want your job?" Erik said coldly. His gaze was trained on the three figures strolling in the park below.

"How is Cassie?" Marlon hesitated before asking.

"She explained the reason why she left." He said briefly.

"So what’s next." Marlon looked at him sideways. Their balconies have a distance of about two meters.

Erik kept silent. He was intently looking at Aryana who seemed to be having a good time talking to two men in the park. His grip on the balcony hardened.

"I was watching her stroll alone for some time. Then the two of them approached her. She looked dazzling in that attire of hers no wonder people she met always do a double take." Marlon was trying to fan Erik’s jealousy.

Erik gritted his teeth and hurried to the bathroom to freshen up. He picked up his trench jacket and left the room.

Marlon chuckled as he watched Erik disappear from the balcony.

"Hmm, this is interesting."

Erik was impatient. He pressed the elevator button several times. He was lost in his thoughts. He did remember he promised to take Aryana for a morning stroll today. Why did she not wake him up?

Given his big strides and hurried steps, he soon caught up with the trio in no time.

"Aryana!" He called out and he sounded agitated.

Aryana looked back and was surprised to see Erik. He has a scowl on his face. Was he angry? Did he get up on the wrong side of the bed?

There was a moment of awkward silence among the four people before Aryana recovered.

"Erik, this is Mu Chen, my student in English. Do you remember? You attended his grandfather’s birthday when we visited China. This is his elder brother Mu Feng which I just met today. They are here on business and we coincidentally met here." Aryana explained.

Erik extended his hand first to Mu Feng who shared the same age as him and then to Mu Chen.

"I remembered now. How is your grandpa?" Erik was looking at Mu Feng.

"He is fine." Was his brief reply.

Aryana suddenly felt tension in the air.

"If nothing else, we will be on our way. We still have a busy day ahead." Erik held Aryana by her waist and pulled her closer to him before leading her away.

Aryana turned back and waved at Mu Chen. "I’ll send the schedule of our next tutorial session." She shouted.

Erik glanced sharply at her. "You still have time for online classes? Stop doing that already."

"I still owe him a few hours. I’ll stop after that." She said feeling wronged.

Erik released her waist and held her hand instead as they trodded towards a nearby cafe.

"Why did you not wake me up? I promised to take you strolling today."

"You were sleeping soundly and you looked tired so I did not wake you up so you can catch up with sleep." Aryana tried to sound casual. She has questions but did not know how to start asking them.

Erik looked down. Guilt flashed fleetingly through his eyes. He did not say anything.

"Anyway, we are having a stroll now." Aryana freed her hand from Erik’s grasp. She took a few steps forward raised her arms sidewards and did a double twirl before stretching her arms toward the sky and giving Erik a delightful smile.

Erik’s heartbeat raced. He stretched out his hand to capture hers and he led her inside the cafe. He ordered a light Tuscany breakfast.

"Are you free tonight Erik?" Aryana suddenly asked.

"I am sorry Yana. I need to accompany a friend." Erik said guiltily. He promised Cassie that he will show up in her fashion show.

"Is it business?" She asked.

"No," Erik replied briefly. Aryana did not ask anymore. She was disappointed. It was fleeting but it did not escape Erik’s hawk-like eyes. He sighed.

Aryana masked her disappointment with a gentle smile.

"Then, I’ll just meet up with my college best friend. Do you remember Emma?"

Erik pondered for a while but cannot remember her.

"She was my roommate in the dorm and she moved with me in at the Sky Residences."

Erik finally nodded even if he did not remember her.

"She said she will pick me up at the hotel after work and show me around. Is that alright?" She asked and waited for his reply.

"Yes, but you have to bring Marlon along with you."

"But it will be awkward if Marlon is around. Emma and I have a lot of things to catch up on. You know, girl’s talk." Then she gave him a mischievous wink.

’This little girl is getting better at her cute antics.’ He thought. A rare smile appeared on his lips.

"Okay." He agreed. He will just ask Marlon to follow her secretly.

"Yes." She said happily. She then took out her cell phone and send a message to Emma.

Aryana: Our date is confirmed. Don’t be late.

Emma: Sure. Excited to see you. Kiss emoji.

Erik and Aryana left the cafe hand and hand. They walked back to their hotel walking leisurely.

Unbeknownst to them, at another hotel near the park, a pair of eyes were watching them. An evil glint appeared in those eyes. She took out her phone and dialed a number.

"Arrange a paparazzi for me after my turn on the ramp. And find out about this woman. I’ll send a photo."
