Chapter 65: Secretary In Action

Liza accompanied Aryana to the CEO’s floor and led her to Camille’s cubicle. Aryana did not have a lot of things. She just has her laptop, her tumbler, and her coffee mug.

Liza sent her some links and oriented her on what was expected of the CEO’s secretary. She was given access to Erik’s calendar and Camille’s mailbox.

"That’s all I can share with you. Talk to Marlon and the CEO himself about which clients and meetings are important." Liza prepared to leave.

"Wait, Liza. Can you show me where the supplies are, the photocopier, the printer, and the shredder?" She asked in haste. "And also the pantry and which utensils the CEO uses." She added.

"He he he. I thought you’ll never ask. Looks like you will be a good secretary. You know when to ask and what to ask." Liza showed her all the things that she asked before leaving her.

When Aryana, reviewed Erik’s calendar, she had a headache because of overlapping meetings. She had no choice but to go to Erik’s office to check with him. Erik’s office was closed. She knocked twice and waited for a few seconds before opening the door.

Erik glared at her but softened his reaction the moment he realized it was Aryana.

"I am sorry. I’ll come back later." She said then quickly turned around after she threw a furtive glance at the lady who was leaning towards Erik from across the desk and showing her something on her laptop. She was intentionally seducing Erik.

"Will be done in 15 minutes. Bring coffee when you come back." It was not Erik talking to her but the CEO.

Aryana turned around. "Yes Sir." She said respectfully then left in a hurry. She did not see the smile that tugged Erik’s lips, but Josie Fejas, the Director of Sales noticed it. She frowned and her gaze followed the woman who just left.

"Is she your new secretary?" Josie asked.

"Yeah. Camille is on emergency leave. Her name is Aryana Jones. I’ll introduce her later during the meeting."

After 15 minutes Aryana came back with the coffee and her laptop.

"Your coffee Sir." She said politely as she placed the mug beside him.

Erik chuckled.

"No need to be polite when we are alone Honey." He grasped her hand and pulled her to sit on his lap.

"Erik, what are you doing? Somebody might see us." Aryana protested.

"Door lock!" Erik said loudly. The door closed and a click was heard.

Erik nuzzled her neck. "You smell so nice. It relaxes me."

Aryana forcefully went away from him. This time Erik did not restrain her.

"I didn’t know you have this side on you, Mr. CEO." Aryana was blushing.

"I only become a pervert with you." Erik teased her.

"How’s the coffee? Marlon said you like it black." Aryana changed the topic and shifted to the secretary mode.

Erik lifted the cup and took a small sip. "This is good." He replied.

"You have an overlapping schedule in the next few days. You have a lot of meeting invites. I don’t know yet which ones are important." Aryana sounded aggrieved.

"Are you complaining Mrs. Lee?" Erik asked in a teasing manner.

She shook her head.

"Nope. I am asking for your guidance, Mr. Lee. I know their titles but still, it’s hard to decide which invite to accept or reject." She said gently. Aryana has a pleasant voice and Erik liked to listen to her.

For the next hour, Erik gave her pointers on identifying which were urgent, important, and not important emails and meeting invites.

"There is an important event on Friday. Check with Marlon if Camille has completed all the necessary arrangements." He approached her and lift her chin so she was looking up at him.

"I need you to be there Yana. I will introduce you as my secretary or would you like me to introduce you as my wife?" Erik gingerly traced the platinum chain on her neck. His fingers slid downwards until they felt the ring nestled in the valley between her mountains.

"Secretary is okay." She replied hoarsely. Erik’s lips were too close to hers she could feel his breath on her face.

Aryana stepped back and gently slapped his groping hand. "Sir, this is the office of the respectable CEO who is known to detest women. I also heard that many lovely women seduced him but failed. Could it be that I heard the rumors wrongly? Is it the CEO who is a flirt?"

Erik laughed loudly.

"Honey, rest assured, I will only seduce and flirt with you." He paused and checked his watch.

"Let’s go. The meeting is about start."

’Did he not flirt and seduce Cassie?’ Aryana thought as she silently followed Erik to the meeting room.

Everyone was already seated on the chairs. All the division and department heads were present except for Julia. Aryana glanced around trying to match the faces and names with the photos in the group directory. Her gaze landed on Josie. She caught her looking at her with hostility before turning her head to whisper something to the person sitting beside her.

Erik and Aryana remained standing.

"This is just a brief meeting. You heard about Camille’s accident right? Aryana will take her post temporarily. Introduce yourselves to her." Erik sounded like the domineering CEO that he was known for.

The people in the room started talking one by one. Some were serious and some told jokes. Most of them are middle-aged saved for a few young directors in sales and training. Jax was also there.

"Aryana and I were in the same department and I’m pretty sure she already knows me just as I know her," Jax said proudly. He winked at Aryana which did not escape the keen eyes of Erik.

Erik clenched his fist and shot Jax a warning look.

"How about let’s check if Aryana remembers all of us? A good secretary should have a good memory." Josie suggested. She sounded innocent but Aryana read through her intent. If she failed, it meant that she wasn’t a good secretary.

"But Josie you did not remember my name even on our fifth meeting." One of the directors exclaimed. He wanted to help Aryana.

"It is alright Sir Dante Leynes, Director of Procurement. I think I remembered all your names and faces." Aryana said confidently. Dante was shocked.

Aryana started enumerating the names and roles of the people in the meeting room and ended with Josie.

"Not but not the least is the lovely Josie Fejas, Director of Sales." Aryana finished calmly. She has a photographic memory. She already knew all the direct reports of Erik and the directors of all the departments.

"Amazing!" Jax clapped his hands and everyone followed suit.

"Alright, that’s all for today. The meeting ended." Erik dismissed everyone and then lead Aryana back to her desk.

"You did a great job there. As expected of my wife. I’ll reward you with free lunch." He said proudly.
