Chapter 235: The New Model
Erik took the first flight the following morning. He was very excited so the pregnant Aryana once again.
His secretary Camille, had arranged a driver for him while he stayed in China. The driver was already waiting for him at the airport. Before he exited the airport, he had already put on his mask as Ken.
The sun was already shining brightly in the east when Erik arrived at the Mu ancestral home. His grandfather-in-law was sitting on the couch in the living room reading a newspaper and having his tea.
"Good morning, Grandpa. How have you been?" He greeted him cheerfully. He handed him a wine bottle beautifully wrapped in burlap and twine.
"This is the famous wine made from Green Height’s coconut. It is very mild and good for the health if drank in moderation."
Mu Heng smiled. He accepted the gift and a nostalgic feeling washed over him. This was the wine he used to drink with Aryana’s grandmother when he was exiled to Green Heights.
Erik looked around. There was no one else other than a few servants who were cleaning.
"Mu Lan is n the garden having her working walk." Grandpa Heng spoke without lifting his gaze from the newspaper.
"Thank you, Grandpa. I’ll bring my things in my room first and go see her." He gave the old man a light bow before leaving.
Grandpa Heng sighed. Initially, he wanted to look for a husband for her granddaughter even if she was married. But she became pregnant.
When he had Erik investigated, he also learned that he was good to his granddaughter. Even though their marriage was not announced, he treated her well.
Erik did not stay long in his room. He hurried to the garden and found Aryana standing under a peach tree. She was wearing a white maternity dress with dainty flower prints. She was looking at the peach tree whose blooms had turned into small fruits.
Erik took out his cell phone and took a photo. He snapped a few more before he approached her.
"Good morning Madam. I am back." Erik announced in a jovial mood.
Aryana turned around. She smiled brightly at him.
"Ken, you are back! How is your family?"
"They are alright." Erik subconsciously looked at her bulging stomach. "Your stomach seemed bigger since last time."
"Yeah. The baby has been very active lately. Ahh.." Aryana placed her hand over her tummy and closed her eyes.
"What happened?" Erik asked. He was already standing beside Aryana and looked at her with worry in his eyes.
"The baby kicked when you greeted me just now."
"Oh really, you think Erika likes my voice?" Erik asked in a doting tone.
Aryana frowned. She thought that there was something wrong with Ken’s tone. However, she did not think too much about it.
"Let us go back. I think I have enough sunshine."
They were on their way back to the mansion when Nanny Wan came to them.
"Missy, there is a package for you from CoChi. I placed it in your room."
"Thank you, Nanny Wan. I’ll take a look later after breakfast."
"Is that the company that you have a collaboration with?" Erik asked.
"Yes, Ken. They will send the crew they hired here later in the afternoon for a photo shoot."
The corner of Erik’s lips curled up. He wondered if Elaine and Vince would recognize Aryana once they saw her photos.
The Mu brothers joined them for breakfast. It was obvious that they were unhappy. Erik would try his best to monopolize their sister.
"You are quick in coming back, Ken." Mu Feng commented drily.
"My business at home was finished early so I came back earlier," Erik said politely. He did not want to cause friction between himself and his in-laws.
After lunch, the make-up artist and the photographers arrived. Mu Heng decided to have the photo shoot at his home so Mu Lan could rest whenever she got tired.
"You are naturally beautiful Madam. You just need a light makeup."
"Thank you. How the I call you?"
"You can call me Elena." The make-up artist smiled.
"Elena, why does it sound so familiar?" Aryana frowned. She tried to think hard but started to feel her head aching.
Erik noticed the look on Aryana’s face.
"Don’t think too much. Better call her El so it is shorter." Erik spoke gently to Aryana then he turned and glared at the make-up artist.
Elena stepped back. She was confused and at the same time scared by the look that Erik gave her. ’I didn’t do anything, right? I just told her my name.’ The poor makeup artist felt aggrieved.
"Yes, call me El." She paused to look at the bodyguard standing beside Mu Lan. Could there be a bodyguard whose aura was so intimidating?
Elena finished her work in one hour. Mu Lan wanted her to create an oriental look. When Aryana looked at herself in the mirror, she was satisfied with how she looked.
She changed into different sets of maternity dresses, from casual wear, office wear, everyday wear, and sleepwear. She cooperated with the director and photographers. The director was very patient and considerate of her situation.
Actually, he was forced to be considerate by her bodyguard. When the bodyguard thought that it was time for Aryana to rest, he would simply glare at the director and the director would announce a break.
The last shoot was at sunset. The director needed a silhouette of the pregnant lady together with her husband. Since it was just a silhouette, he planned to get one of the tall photographers to act as the husband.
"I can act the husband part. Don’t bother with him." Erik said with a cold face.
The director was of course ecstatic. The bodyguard’s profile was perfect. His height was also perfect. He was a bit skinny but it can be hidden by a jacket.
He directed the two of them to hold hands together with the sunset as the backdrop.
Something clicked in Aryana’s mind. "Why does it seem like this is a deja vu?" Aryana muttered under her breath.
Erik heard her and he was worried.
"Don’t think about it. Just focus on the current scene so we can complete this and rest." Erik reminded her.
It was dark when they packed up and the crew left.
"Are you tired?" Erik asked worriedly. He let Aryana hold on to his arm as he led her back to the house.
"No, I am not tired. I actually liked it. I feel that it is something I used to do in the past."
Erik paused for a while before he continued walking.
