The Billionaire's Promise -
Chapter 233: I Hate Her
Chapter 233: I Hate Her
Cassie followed the departing model with hatred in her eyes. When she could no longer see her back, Cassie took her lipstick from her purse and applied it to her lips. She studied her reflection in the mirror then her eyes narrowed and an evil smile appeared on her beautiful face.
"Do you think a mere copycat like you can defeat me? In your dreams!" Cassie walked out of the restroom in elegant strides.
She was about to enter the VIP room when she saw Erik at the far end of the corridor talking to someone on his phone. She walked in his direction.
Erik was so engrossed in his conversation that he did not notice Cassie approaching him.
"I will be back tomorrow. Do you still have a problem sleeping?" Erik paused while he listened to the person from the other line. He laughed out loud.
Cassie froze. She never heard Erik laugh so happily before.
"So she is giving you a lot of trouble."
Another pause.
"Okay. See you tomorrow."
Before Erik ended the call, she had a glimpse of the woman on the screen. It was very fleeting that she only saw short straight black hair.
Erik turned around abruptly and bumped into Cassie. Cassie fell to the floor. Erik narrowed his eyes. Since it was his fault, he extended his hand to help her up.
"I am sorry. Why did you sneak like that?" Erik’s voice was very cold. It was like a knife that cut through Cassie’s heart.
"I’m sorry. I just wanted to talk to you for a bit." Cassie said in a pitiful voice. She wanted to keep holding onto Erik’s hand but he let go the moment she had her balance.
Erik snorted and walked in the direction of the VIP room. Cassie ran to keep up with his strides.
"Erik, please. Can talk to me in a civil manner? I am still a business partner after all. Your grandpa and my grandpa are friends. It has been a few months since she left and I did not cause her kidnapping nor did I cause that incident. Can you forgive me? Please?" Cassie’s voice sounded broken and pitiful.
Erik suddenly stopped. He looked down at her. His gaze was very cold and piercing. "I cannot forgive you for your scheming that night Cassie. Just as I cannot forget the hurt in her eyes when she looked at me and thought that I betrayed her. Those eyes haunted my dreams and tormented me every night." Erik blurted out each word hatefully.
Cassie gasped. She was out of breath. She felt as if Erik grabbed her neck and squeezed it hard but Erik had already left and entered the VIP room.
"What kind of scheming had you done that Erik would hate you like that? I can feel the chill in his voice from where I am standing." Aliyah walked out from behind a pillar and looked at Cassie gloatingly.
Cassie blinked repeatedly. The tears that were about to fall because of Erik’s words disappeared. Her face hardened and her voice was as icy as Eriks.
"Ha! And do you think you can gain Erik’s favor? Aren’t you doing the same thing? You are scheming by changing your appearance to look like Aryana Jones. Unfortunately, he has already moved on from Aryana. The look that you had painstakingly copied is useless. I saw a glimpse of the woman that he talked to very gently earlier. She has a black and short hair."
Cassie enjoyed watching as Aliyah’s expression changed.
"You are lying. Erik loves Aryana so much that he suffered a lot when she disappeared. How can he move on from her just like that?" Aliyah refused to believe what she had just heard.
Cassie approached her slowly. She was taller than Aliyah so she was looking down at her. "If you have the ability go check his cell phone and see whose photo he used as his wallpaper." After saying those words, flicked her hair, turned around, and walked gracefully back to the VIP room. The way she walked was like she was walking on a catwalk.
Aliyah clenched her fist and looked at the woman’s back hatefully. Was she telling the truth? Does Erik have a new woman that he cares about? Was it the reason why he seemed to be in a good mood and his eyes did not seem to be soulless?
Aliyah sighed heavily. She could not give up now. She has invested so much in changing her appearance and even her demeanor. Based on what she knew, Erik loved Arayana so much. It was impossible for him to forget her. It wasn’t even a year that she went missing or rather died tragically during that kidnapping.
With these thoughts in her mind, she walked confidently back to the VIP room.
"You are back Aliyah." Leonardo greeted her cheerfully. The seat beside him was already vacant. The woman sitting beside him was now sitting in the seat she vacated.
"Come sit beside me. I’d like to sing a duet with you." Leonardo tapped the seat beside him. Aliyah had no choice but to comply.
When she passed by Erik’s seat, she stopped and leaned her body so her face was close to his ear.
"Erik, is it okay if I sit beside the guest?" She asked in a coquettish tone, her eyes darted to the cell phone he was holding in his hand. She frowned when she saw the photo of a woman with a round face, very short black hair, and dark brown eyes. Her eyes were the shape of an almond.
Erik put his cell phone inside his pocket before turning to her. He leaned back to create distance from her face.
"Okay." Erik replied nonchalantly.
Aliyah was displeased by his lack of interest in her but she still kept a sweet smile on her face.
Cassie snorted which did not escape Jax. He threw her an indifferent gaze. Cassie pretended not to notice. She poured him and herself another glass of wine.
Leonardo selected the song about celebrating love that night. It was very clear that he was sending a subtle message of sleeping with Aliyah that night. Aliyah pretended not to know as she tried her best to sing beautifully and match her voice with that of Leonardo.
From time to time, she would still cast glances at Erik but like before, Erik was busy looking down at his cellphone.
Unbeknownst to Aliyah, four pairs of eyes were watching her closely.
Franco was blatantly studying her as he drank his tequila. He could tell that the woman had motives for becoming a model of CoChi and that would be Erik. Sometimes he envied his friend. There were so many women who would do anything to be his woman. His Julia was once one of them. He was just happy that he failed in her schemes and fell into his trap.
Franco sighed in his heart. He just hoped that Erik would not fall victim to another schemer. He suffered much in the last few months. It was time for him to have his happy ending especially since he will be a father soon.
Marlon, on the other hand, was secretly watching Aliyah. He counted the number of furtive glances she cast at Erik while flirting with Leonardo. He decided right then that Aliyah was a dangerous woman and could be a threat to Erik. He should remind Erik about her.
Jax openly stared at Aliyah. He was seemingly infatuated by her sweet singing voice. Meanwhile, his right hand was secretly caressing Cassie’s back. A glint flashed across his eyes when he caught Aliyah stealing glances at Erik. Aliyah can be another chess piece he can use against Erik.
Cassie was glaring at Aliyah. The animosity she felt towards her was clearly reflected in her eyes. How can she look at Erik with admiration while flirting with another man?
When the duet ended, Erik checked his watch. It was almost 12 midnight. He stood and bid farewell to the Rossi brothers.
Cassie panicked. She did not want him to leave yet.
"Erik, are you leaving already?" She asked.
"Yes," Erik answered coldly. "I have an early flight tomorrow."
Cassie stiffened. She forced a smile before blurting out, "Take care then!"
Aliyah stood from her chair and wanted to leave with Erik but he gestured with his hand and signaled for her to stay seated.
"You can stay. Leonardo seemed to like your singing. Marlon will send you back." With that, he left without looking back.
Cassie cast Aliyah a gloating look as if she was saying, ’In the end, he abandoned you.’
Aliyah gritted her teeth but she kept a gentle appearance as she went back to her seat beside Leonardo.
Leonardo selected one more duet song and Aliyah happily indulged him.
Alexander who was quietly observing, was enjoying the show. He particularly liked the copycat who did everything to get Erik’s attention but failed in the end. Erik was really special. A lot of women were fighting for him.
His two friends seemed to be loyal to him and might be his formidable enemy if he wanted to topple Erik’s empire in the Central District. What puzzled him was Erik’s cousin. He looked at Erik with envy. Does he want Erik’s company or does he want his women?
