The glass that Erik was about to bring to his mouth slipped from his hand. It was good that when it fell on the table it was still standing up so only a small amount of water spilled.

"But I am already married, Mr. Lustre. Wouldn’t that make your daughter a mistress?" He said blatantly.

Nicholas Lustre was dumbfounded. His face turned ugly. Katherine who was sitting beside him has an even uglier expression.

"You are married? How come I never heard that you already have a wife? Both your father and grandfather did not mention it."

"I have a wife. So I cannot take on another wife right?"

The CEOs of other companies perked up their ears to listen to the conversation.

’Erik Lee is married? Who is the lucky lady who married him?’

Katherine wanted to say something. She opened her mouth but no words came out.

’So Erik is really married? How come Cassie doesn’t know about it? Who is her wife?’ She bitterly thought.

The host suddenly announced that the ceremony would start.

Cassie who was also seated at the back was watching Katherine and Erik. She frowned when she noticed that something was wrong with Katherine. Her back was slouched and she was fidgeting in her seat. Erik on the other hand continued to sit in a dignified manner.

Cassie was expecting to receive an award that evening. She thought that they produced the most innovative products and her company was also popular. Though profit was not high at least they started to make money.

As usual Erik’s company received an award for its unprecedented sales during the year. He also bagged the most outstanding CEO of the Year award.

Jax who watched Erik go up the stage to receive the plaque sneered. ’Next year, that award will be in my hand. Just enjoy your glory for a little longer.’

Cassie followed Erik with an adoring gaze. Erik was an embodiment of prestige, success, and power. She did not stop regretting leaving him last time. They almost got married but because of her stupidity, Erik has a fallout with her.

All awardees were given a chance to speak. Erik’s speech was full of inspiration. People who heard him share his insights could not stop praising him. He was indeed worthy of being the Most Outstanding CEO.

Katherine who was sitting stiffly at VIP table no. 1, was in a daze. She seemed unable to process what Erik said earlier that he already has a wife. Katherine was a proud woman. While she was used to getting what she wanted, she still has her bottom line. She would not chase a man who was married. She did not want to be a mistress. Just the thought of it made her shudder.

Didn’t she have a lot of admirers that included some royalties and high-ranking government officials? Why would she chase after Erik who was no longer available? Suddenly, she found the event very boring. Before Erik could come down from the stage, she told her father that she will go home as she found the event no longer interesting.

"I’ll ask the driver to send you home." Her father called the driver and gave instructions. "He will wait for you at the front."

Katherine hummed. She threw one last glance at the man on the stage before she gracefully exited the banquet hall.

The next set of awards were for the new players in the industry. Cassie straightened up and paid attention. Her grandfather and her father were sitting in one of the tables at the front row. The organizers arranged the tables in such a way that businesses that contributed greatly to the economy were at the front while new players were at the back.

Cassie saw Aryana at the opposite end of the banquet hall. She was still wondering why she was present at the awarding ceremony. Her gown was a head turner and her aura tonight was different.

Katherine appeared in her line of sight when she was going for the door. For a moment their eyes locked. She was surprised to see something in Katherine’s eyes. Was it pity? Cassie wondered why Katherine was leaving while Erik was still on the stage. Maybe she just needed to go the restroom.

The host announced that the next award will be for the Most Innovative Products. There were different categories. Products related to beauty and fashion belong to the same category.

"The winner for the Most Innovative Product for Beauty and Fashion is..." the host paused for few seconds to emphasize the sounds of drums rolling in.

"CoChi for it’s Ethnic Collection of Apparel and Accessories."

"We won! We won!" Elaine could not contain her excitement.

"Go up the stage and receive the award, Vince." Aryana urged him.

"You go together." Elaine pulled Aryana from her seat and gave her a gentle push.

Vince escorted Aryana as they walked through the red carpet in the middle of the hall to the stage in front.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, let us welcome the Chief Designer of CoChi along with their beautiful spokesperson."

All eyes were trained on Aryana. She looked magnificent on her dress even from the back view. She was like a fire burning fervently.

When she passed by Erik’s table, the man with dark eyes held her gaze. Aryana smiled at him and he smiled back. His gaze was filled with adoration. Aryana noticed that Erik’s eyes gleamed with something that was not there before.

"Look at her, so captivating. I bet, this gown was also designed by the Chief Designer." The host said over the microphone while she assisted Aryana when she stepped into the stage.

The Minister of the Chamber of Commerce awarded the plaque to Vince and both he and Aryana stepped aside to give the stage to him for a speech.

"I was at my lowest point when I met her. She saved me and my wife. She believed in my talent even when I didn’t. She was one of the two inspirations behind every design I created. Of course, the other one is my wife." Vince looked at the table at the back toward the left where Jessa was standing, her hands on her mouth. He looked at the camera and raised the plaque in his hand.

"This award is for our angel, the woman behind CoChi. Thank you for believing in me."
